The thing that's missing from the axe animation is the hand slide with swings. When a person uses an axe or any other heavy swinging maul (sledge hammers and polearms) or similar they natural slide their hand part way down the handle from the start point. This allows you to swing a lot harder irl, and makes the action look a lot meatier in games.
That's a great point I didn't think of... Main thing was tho to make an animation that would work for any 2 handed weapons in the game, but I actually think hand sliding would probably work for that.
