@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV Год назад
I also have caught them without using a light… however I’ve had better luck using a light, so that’s why I use them. However I think someone that has had better luck without using a light would argue that not using a light IS better. It’s like I always say, there are a million ways to catch a fish, every way is right if it works 💪🏼 tight lines!

Are those lights one time use? Does it stop blinking after it comes out of the water?
@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV Год назад
Hey Stan, they have a battery and last about 300 hours depending on how you take care of them. After fishing, I will rinse them with my fresh water wash down on the boat, dry them off very well, then put them back in the tackle box. After they are dry, they stop blinking. Tight lines 💪🏼

What to do if you get snagged on the bottom? Is there some kind of fuse on your rigg?
@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV Год назад
Hello George! Best thing I've found when getting snagged on the bottom is to quickly back the drag off all the way, then tighten it down and try to reel. This typically saves my rigs about 80% of the time. A secondary option is to put your boat in gear and head the direction you were drifting from and hopefully it was just snagged on a ledge, this will free it. I hope that helps!

Great video, just got back from a deep dropping trip and watched you to help pick out tackle for my boat/learn how others do it. Stupid question time…How in the world do you keep your camera still while the boat (and you) are rocking- you’re not moving too much but still…no clue why the camera isn’t moving with the boat. Thanks for taking the time to go through what you do, how you do it and what gear you use, all the way down to the weight bucket. All of this is critical for those (like me) who are considering spending a significant amount of money buying gear- mistakes are expensive and magnified by the cost. You answered literally every relevant question I could think of from rod to reel to hook/weight size, I can figure out the rest such as line/leader. Well done. *earned a like/subscribe, thanks again!

Great info Cap I am just getting into dropping deeper with electrics, is that a swivel rod holder and what degree is it? Not sure if I need to add swivels and some 0 degree holders. Thanks for the video and super nice boat!
@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV 2 года назад
Thanks Scott! It is a Gemlux bluewater HD 360deg swivel rod holder, it’s 15 degrees. If you don’t have a swivel rod holder, an old school trick is to take an 8oz egg sinker with about 1 ft of mono tied on it, drop it in the rod holder with the tag hanging out (so you can get it back out), it will act as a makeshift swivel with your butt end. Let me know if you need anything else, good luck and tight lines 🤙🏼

Are you going braid directly to the swivel? If so what knot are you using. Do people ever use top shot mono for tiles or not needed? Thanks!
@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV 2 года назад
Hey Matthew, thanks for the question (and great question)! I go braid directly to the ball bearing snap swivel. The knot I use is a “cats paw”. If you’d like a tutorial let me know and I’ll add one! I am sure people have different preferences, but mine is no top shot. Reason for me is that sometimes I am dropping in excess of 900’ and I would think adding mono top shot would increase the line scope. Remember, you want your line to cut through the water so you aren’t paying out thousands of feet of line. Hope this helps!

The Tile Fish live in groups of pretty much the same size so if you catch a smaller one move away maybe 100-200 feet and try again . Also if you can find where a slope starts next to the muddy bottom try up the slope maybe 50 feet or so and let it come back down to the bottom . The bigger ones will be on that slope most times . Here off Virginia Beach you can find them more so in 650-800 feet for the bigger ones .

I believe that you will damage your break soon, it’s better to release line on a normal way with your hand control the spool, the weight you use is also to much, I use maximum 5lb and with electronic anchor only 3lb in 600m depth. Anyway it’s a nice and interesting video
@ReelFamTV
@ReelFamTV 2 года назад
Hello Mar Dim, thanks for that! Using the drag to lower the line down gives me more control so there is no snap back in the line. I use to put my thumb on the spool and use the free spool knob, however even shimano recommends not to put your fingers near the spool when in free spool mode. Sometimes we have fish in excess of 8-10lb of lead where we live (Florida east coast). Every area around the world differs based on current.
@cwill114
@cwill114 Год назад
How are you going to say the man is wrong when every situation is different. You could pull up to a spot one day with 1 knot of current… day later 5 knots. There are currents forever changing offshore. Iv Ben grouper fishing with 3knots of current, moved the boat 300 yards hand had slack tide almost no current. So think before you speak next time bud

if we are grouper fishing I will do a three way but I use a 20oz bank sinker on the bottom swivel and my bait line on the side swivel - that's another video we will be coming out with soon. For deep dropping (300ft +) I typically just use 6lb lead sticks on the chicken rig style set up with my electric reels.
