To get access intercooler must be removed and It’s five minute job remove hoses on both sides and some 10mm bolts that hold intercooler core. Good luck 👍
plz bear with me on the questions...does the intercooler use its own oil and needs to be drained/changed every so often or does it feed off the main engine oil thru the hoses that is disconnected???
@@davet7231 If there is oil in the intercooler then it’s not good at all can be a little greasy but not dripping oil. Overall it’s air-to-air dry core intercooler. If there is lots of oil inside core then turbo is done or engine block is worn out badly resulting cylinder pressure blow by and crankcase pressure pushing up oil in to turbo and intercooler.
I have an E39 530d myself. From the sound of the starter, I would say your battery and starter are fine and not to blame. Typical remaining reasons could be old injectors and old glow plugs. Both could be ugly to replace on cars with many kilometers as they like to bake with the cylinder head. The glow plugs are powered with a relays. You can rather easily do some electrical measurements if your glow plugs are supplied with power and also measure their ohmic resistance. For the injectors there is also test methods available where you measure the amount of diesel that gets returned from the injectors, indicating which of them could be bad
I don’t have good diagnostic test tool on my hands so I can just imagine what’s wrong. I guess you are absolutely right about. Starter motor ir good, about battery it’s 50/50 not sure is it turning on full speed or bit slower than it should, still need glow plug test and as you said can be bad injectors as well. @@craelectronics -22 last night couldn’t start it up again. There is some issue with glow plugs or injectors that’s for sure. Two cylinders of six fired up right away but four of them was pumping white unburned diesel smoke ticking noise right after start up is unburned diesel fuel hydro locking. So yeah, problem must be solved. Thanks for your care. ✌️

It indeed is not good when it is about to hydrolock :-/ But also sounds that a lack of fuel is not the issue in the first place. Regarding testing, there is not much needed. A simple multimeter can tell you already a lot about your glow plugs (if they are even powered, and which ones are bad). The error code doesn't tell us anything new what we wouldn't know: glow system: plugs or relays. I have the very same error logged as well in my car, constantly present. All that unburned fuel stays in cylinder and reduces the combustion chamber volume after each injection cycle only case can be bad injector that sprays uneven and doesn’t ignite of course there is slight chance that the glow plugs don’t work right resulting same. Will find a garage time and sort it out if problem is bad injectors it’s not healthy engine can cause hotspots and damage pistons.
Thanks for question. My views are subjective it’s not worst power plant and isn’t the best ether. Regular maintenance don’t push it to the limits and it will run fine. Of course there are many weak points plastic parts that like to break apart 16 valve head is one of main weaknesses. There is no reason to blame engine at any way. I hope you got answer.
The box that you ask about at 2.57 is a control thing for a butterfly valve that is in the original exhaust pipe, I believe that it is part of the quick warm up system for the engine. There are still parts available on the net, ebay and other sites offer just about everything that you want, but postage can be expensive.

David already called it... you have an issue with your float valve in the carb, either a small piece of debris is holding the needle open, the float has stuck or the float has a hole in it and is full of fuel or water so it it doesn't float.
I have a 2001, isuzu bighorn 3.5l v6, I will be taking the body like you have. I am putting a Toyota 3uzfe v8 and 6 speed in to it, now I can see better what it will look like 👍 I am from New Zealand also Good video
Awesome. Since ever I dreamed about v8 but not easy to get hands on nice engine here in Europe. Junkyard digs are rear and treasures are highly valued.
What’s happened with stock v6? Up here 3.5 is very rear mostly diesel or v6 3.2 petrol motors. Now is problems with spare parts for my 3.1TD since war situation at Ukraine most of 4by4s are donated there and Trooper getting expensive and hard to find. I am stuck on my project right now I am working on new episode to show you guys my huge problem.

@@allstatekiwi5646 This going to be a problem all over the globe good old dinos are kind a dying same as good durable engine are more hard to find now. Part list for my rig is slightly longer then list for my other projects. It contains various braking system components like a master cylinder oh, clutch slave, all around body mount bushing. Mostly related with rubber article. At the moment I am struggling with this. After 24/02 world is different all the oem parts was imported through the Ukraine also at the junk yards is kind a sad sight. If it keeps me away from going forward I will improvise anyway.
