Several years ago, I rode handcycles without e-assist technology. They were a lot of fun, but my arms and back were sore. I'm glad handcycles have advanced technology, however it appears difficult. Hopefully with more modern advances it will be easier.
I am curious, what made you decide to go with front wheel instead of mid drive? Also did you have to change wheels in the front, or simply install the hub on your current wheel? I have tons of questions, please let me know th easiest way to communicate with you. Thank you for your time.
The biggest reasons are cost and installation simplicity. Adding a mid drive is nontrivial on this frame and also adds a significant amount of stress to the drivetrain and hand cranks assembly. Normally we cannot crank ourselves at 500W :-) The wheel comes pre-built. All you need to do is swap out the chain ring from the old wheel.
