I actually love this bike and was planning to get one. But to my shock, it doesn’t have traction control.

@Andre-Mostert 11 часов назад
Yes I think I mentioned this in one of my videos. Its a great bike dont get me wrong and if you going to be smashing out trails and you are a taller rider its great. Sounds awesome and very smooth. But for my riding here in the UK its a bit of a overkill and yes all the basic traction control that even bikes has that cost way less it does not have. A few reasons I moved the bike on, it was too tall for riding in the traffic daily I am 178cm. It was top heavy with a full tank of fuel. I also spend too little time on gravel to really warrent a bike like this. Hope you can get a test ride as its the best to do before you buy.

Mine was like this from the start. Well from when I got the bike at 100 miles. I managed to pick this one up from a dealer where the client did not like the alarm light on the dash so returned the bike with 100 miles on. So I jumped on the deal to take it. From the sounds of it there was a batch in the beginning that had this issue and this should be sorted now. Only thing if you feel it start happening let the dealer know and they can get the replacement parts. Pretty easy fix, new disc and pads. Keep well and anyjoy the bike its so much fun.

@@Andre-Mostert thanks 🤙🏼I haven’t covered 200kms yet but I’ll certainly keep an eye out for any symptoms thanks. I’ve got a really good triumph dealer close by and there PDI was exceptional. I do get the immobiliser light on when riding now and again which doesn’t bother me which I’m hoping is rectified at the first service but other than that I’m enjoying this bike and I’ve had a few. Your reviews helped me make the decision to buy this instead of a street triple as this suited my biking needs and so far it’s perfect. Thanks

The front brake disc is probably warped because the brake caliper is holding the pads on it and it's getting hot.
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert 11 часов назад
They did a spin test and there where very little drag this is from new pads. I wonder if they just did not have a bad batch or the pads might have been too thick. They assured me that they only replaced the disc and the pads and no further adjustments. But then again who knows lol.

Nice video man! Do you think that starting out of the second gear would be a good option for normal road use, or do you think that would be too hard on the clutch?

I have been short shifting the first gear and it just takes a bit of time to get use to. I am also looking at swapping the front gear for the one on the Speed to give it a bit longer gear. I dont really need super slow speed for the 10% off roading I am going to be doing. That is if I can find gravel trails to ride here in the UK. Thanks for the feedback.

I won't ever ride without my wrist guards and helmet. I just don't feel comfortable on the wheel without them. I usually also wear a Knox Urbane Pro armoured shirt with Alpine Stars AST-1 trousers. And cheap steel toe cap work boots on my feet. My go to helmet is an LS2 Fast Evo. On hot days I wear a Met Parachute which is very similar to your Bell. Same problems with the bugs too. In winter I wear a Shark Evo-One modular helmet. It's warm and very quiet. But is quite heavy at 1.6kg. I have cheap cycle helmet mirrors mounted to each helmet. The mirror is something else I don't feel comfortable riding without. Your new camera setup looks & sounds great, by the way.

Now there we go. Some really good information with kit model details. I will go and check out the kit and models as I really need to get sorted with another helmet. This morning was the same just bugs in the vents. I got the pidzoom helmet mirror on the way as I think this one will be a good fit but we will see. The hand mirror is ok but I want to be able to always just glance to see what is behind me. Interesting how you get use to it and when you dont have it on its a worry. But fully agree helmet and wrist guards min. Keep well and thanks for the comment. Super happy with this base camera setup.

I've put on the Speed 400's 15T front sprocket to replace the Scrambler's stock 14T front sprocket. It is a good modification if you are primarily riding on roads and motorways. Lowers the RPM of cruising speeds and reduces vibrations. The bike now feels more comfortable on the motorway as it is less buzzy. Less stress on the engine too I imagine.

Nice this is what I am also looking on doing but my local dealer is so slow to get parts and spares. I am also waiting on the front screen, they have the mounting kits but not the screens. Its a bit of a pain at the moment as I do like the Triumph screen. Thanks for the comment and it makes sense if you not going to be spending loads of time on slow off road riding that there are so little of here in the UK.

I wear gloves under my wrist guards as well. Had to modify the wrist guard straps to fit. Mirror, I fitted a cycle mirror to my helmet - the mirror (4"in dia) I use is intended for the end of the handles bars of a cycle, but is modified easily. Always the same boots to protect my ankles. I've taken to using a tether on my Begode Master - principly to topple the wheel. Very hilly in Cornwall with these steep gradients the idea of the thing running off by itself after a fall is the stuff of nightmares. As to practice absolutely - gradients particular down gradients with tight turns and seated riding really must make the effort to learn that. And emergency stops/hard deaccelerations.

Looking at a few right now, the 850 sport and the tiger rally's. Not really sure I need the Rally b/c although I go off road, I don't do heavy off roading due the weight of the bikes. But, I do like the Rally's and there are some good deals to be had now. I saw the 850 while at the dealer and I liked the good ride height and liter weight. Not sure at the moment, will have to take some test rides, but the 850 sport is tempting. Good review!
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert 24 дня назад
This is what I was thinking too as I did the test ride on the 850 Sport and they had this one on a really good deal. I must say the Sport was for me a better deal if I think about it as the GT Pro has loads of extras that is nice to have but very rarely used by me. I also liked the Sports exhaust note, it was a bit different to the GT Pro for some reason. You can also add bits that you really need on the Sport like heated grips for me. The only reason I went with the GT Pro was because of the deal as it was the last one they wanted to get rid of but otherwise I would have gone with the Sport as my first choice. Hope this helps and good luck

@@Andre-Mostert Thanks for the feedback! The 850 does have a different tune (mapping), so maybe that's why it sounds a bit different. Due to the weight and height, I am leaning more towards the 850 and it will do the lite off roading that I do. Thank you for the review. I too own a Scrambler 400X, and have done my first 1,000 Km on it now. I love it. One thing I noticed though, is that at low speeds - anything below 40 Km/hr - the motorcycle exhibits some jerkiness. It doesn't matter which gear I am on. And this happens on perfectly flat, smooth road surfaces while keeping a steady throttle. It does not go smoothly, but rather continuous back-and-forth jerking, and the slower you go, the more noticeable it is. Is this normal? I am looking for feedback from people who own the bike. Is this a normal single-cylinder behavior, or is there something wrong with my bike? Thank you.
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert 27 дней назад
Thanks for the comment. I have not found this on mine at all. I do get some but this is only when I open and close the throttle in a not smooth fashion. It might be worth to check that they installed the latest software/firmware on the bike as I have heard on some version this helps. But I can say I do not feel this at all. If you keep the throttle smooth its smooth. This can also be that you are in too a low gear for the revs but it sounds like you know how to ride a bike. I am sit at 25-30mph in 4th with out any jerkyness. Hope this helps.

If you can try and get a version for the chrome delete I think this is 2019-2020 when they did this. But all depends one where you are based as it might be different in the US or EU. Its a great car and the white seats my wife loved as they are easy to maintain and looks great. I have sold mine and moved to a Model Y but this is only because I like changing my cars. I am also not looking again at a 2020 model 3 as its such a great all round car. The key is the sceeen/software and the charging infrastructure. Hope this helps and good luck

They should be able to as its ride by wire but then enough people needs to complain before they are doing to do something. I must say the bike does settle in after the 600 miles and the slow speed riding is smoother. You must also check with the dealer at the 600 mile service to make sure you are on the lastest firmware. So far it's been amazing, but then, this is my first bike. Other thoughts, foot pegs are too small for my feet, will look for bigger ones as I am size 11 US or 43 Euro. Plan on getting a small windscreen from dart to help with wind on the highway, very tiring. The rear brake is weak AF. tried to skid o gravel, NOPE! Yes, I was in off road mode. Cheers for the feedback. Weird that they are taking this long. The dealer did say that they received the disc and pads but not the bolts. They where waiting on confirmation if they need new bolts. The answer was no so they can go ahead and fit the disc and pads and reuse the current bolts. Check with your dealer, they might be in the same boat.

Ooh this is an old video, they dont do it like this anymore. Now you go to a massive lot, get your key cars and location of the car and off you go. What is nice is when you drive out of the lot all the other cars beep and flash their lights at you. You do feel part of something different.

I love the gearing on the 400x. It is just right for adventure riding on dirt forest service roads. I hauled my wife over rough, rocky roads on my 400x Scrambler. It traveled through the terrain very well.

Yes some guys fit the Speed 400's front sprocket to make the first gear a bit longer. That is if you need it.

10 degrees sounds so nice... When it’s not a heatwave it’s raining. Or when everyone in our group is finally free to meet up and ride together it’s raining. Big sigh. Let’s do good-weather-dances together.

Liked your video thanks, anyone know of a suitable rear paddock stand for essential chain maintenance ?Triumph seem to pass the buck onto the owner?
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert Месяц назад
If you get the bobbins then any standard paddock stand will work. I got one from amazon and it works with the bobbins or the rubber mounts so you dont need bobbins. Something like this shorturl.at/PGYhE shorturl.at/iSnBw Hope this helps

So from someone that's put over 5k miles on his 400x I ran my Karoo streets at the listed pressures, 1.8 on the front 2.3 on the rear, interestingly when I picked the bike up both front and rear were at 2.3 bar, this made the front feel quite punchy through the bars, I did change out the Karoo's at 4.5k for a set of Dunlop Raids, for more off-road grip, much better on the trails but it does take away some of the brilliant road holding of the stock tyres, Dunlop have advised me that I can run the Raids at+ - 7psi on the rear and+ - 5psi on the front. The more aggressive tyres are a little more noisy but not unobtrusively and will no doubt drag the mileage per gallon down, but I'm almost at 200 miles range even with a little bit of offroading thrown in, and I'd swap out the levers for 3 finger and replace the handguards for ally reinforced for when its inevitably dropped.

Awesome and thank you very much for the feedback. Yes I am looking for a few upgrades here and there and waiting on stock to arrive. I am also getting the front disc sorted begining of Aug. Massive wait to get a slot to get this done. But so far really enjoying the bike I just wish the weather in the UK would sort it out. Dont mind riding in the rain but not all the time. lol

Prepare to change also the handlebar. Mine bent on a ultra low speed fall. That also made my brake lever a 3 finger on for free! The foot break pedal also bent. Cheap parts that need to be upgraded for off road use

Fully agree with that, its also my rule, run the base stuff till it goes wrong then replace with something a bit better. Thanks for the feedback.

I bought my 400x about a month ago (mid June 2024) I have put the first 500 miles on it and it is a super fun bike to ride. If I had one complaint about it it is the 1st gear. Starting from a stop, you have to shift into second just after letting the clutch all the way out, this may be useful for off road but I have not done a bunch of that yet. Also going from first to second gear, I accidently land in neutral more often than I care to admit but I hope it is more me than the way the bike is set up. Other than this it is a great bike, fun to ride, looks good and feels great on the road. Enjoyed your review, keep safe out there scrambler friend.
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert Месяц назад
Great and glad you are liking the bike. You might just need to adjust the shift leaver on setting up so you get more movement from 1st to second. On the short 1st gear.. the guys use the Speed 400's gear on the front and replace it with the one on the 400X and this sorts out the short 1st gear. But I agree if you not going to be doing much super slow riding then changing that front sprocket might be the way to go. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy getting the first service out the way.

I think what I have seen is people switching the front gear to a 15 tooth to get taller gears. They are using from a duke 390. If I remember correctly
@Andre-Mostert
@Andre-Mostert Месяц назад
This is correct the Duke 390 one is more freely availible compared to the Triumphs Speed 400's one so the fit that one. Thanks for the tip @krisgarcia4452

Second gear for the win. With a lighter bike it makes the second gear start much easier.
