Hi! My name is Virginia Belle and I love watching journaling videos so much that I decided to start making my own videos to share about my journaling! hope you enjoy my videos :)
This channel is just for fun so I upload when I have inspiration and ability to make a video rather than on a particular upload schedule.
I think that it's very admirable that you pick up all these different thrifted diaries. I am so picky about the design, size, spiral/bound etc. that I can't do what you do. But by the end, you'll have a very diverse library of completed diaries!!
yeah, I'm not super picky... it is pretty fun to have such an all-over-the-place collection because they still all have one thing in common and it's that they're mine and have lived my life with me :)
oh what a cutie little kitten!! 💜💜💜I love how many journals you thrift, that's amazing! I wish the shops around me had more journals- although I have plenty of my own in my stash lol The pink journal is super cute!! thank you so much for sharing this tag! I always look forward to your videos
Hi! I love journals you showed, and I especially enjoy the fact that they are mostly not that expensive. Many other blogs sports those pricy journals - I've once seen a video where blogger bought at least 10 awesome Disney journals of limited edition, and I can't imagine how much they costed. It nice to look at them but it's not relatable(?) I hope I won't sound intrusive, but I don't exactly understand what is prayer journal. Do you write your own prayers or copy them from some others sources?
Thanks for watching :) I am lucky I’ve got good thrift stores around. Also you don’t sound intrusive… good question! Most of the time, my prayer journaling is stream of consciousness writing specifically directed toward God. Sometimes it may be gratitude, sometimes I may be feeling sad or angry or anxious and takes those feelings to Him because that’s the best way to address them… sometimes I make pros and cons lists when I’m making decisions… in the one I showed I took notes on a book I was reading at the time… so it’s basically writing intentionally to or for the purpose of knowing God better. Hope that helps!
Haha and of course I wanted to be Gryffindor, but always got Slytherin too🐍 I’m thinking I may use that journal this fall… only the half blood Prince and the deathly hallows left for me to read in the series!!!
I love my journals! I just finished number 35 yesterday. I am a Gryffindor. My mom just gave me a couple of Molskine journals. I really like it. I am using the purple one which I love because purple is one of my favorite colors.
This video was so calming and interesting to watch. I love seeing the variety of different journals people buy. I like how you thrift journals as well. I have thrifted several of mine, and have found some good quality and unique styles that way. I probably have somewhere around 20 unused journals, including pocket notebooks.
Thanks! Yeah I am excited to use that journal when the time comes :) I’ve previously used her All Too Well notebook for thanksgiving through the winter months and I loved it :)
You've got a great collection of journals-lots of variety! I really love that psychedelic one for spring! I think it's awesome that you thrift so many of your notebooks :)
thanks!! actually just finished the psychedelic one on Monday so I got to use it as we entered spring! & I'm very grateful for access to thrift stores around me :)
Thank you for making this nice video. I am currently in a huge journal slump, I am not even in for making my monthly flip through. So I find a journal collection video somewhat inspiring. And relaxing. May I ask what the point of a prayer journal is and how it is being used? And can it potentially be used for pagan prayers as well? Greeting from a Ravenclaw. Have a nice day! 😀
Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope you’re not guilting yourself for your journal slump; there are different seasons in nature and our life and our hobbies, so we’re not gonna be journaling all the time. I prayer journal essentially to talk to God… because if I only did so in my head I’d never really think the things through that I need to. Sometimes I just tell God what’s happening in my life or I ask Him questions or I make pros and cons list in decision making and ask for His guidance. Sometimes I journal in gratitude. Recently for Lent I’ve been answering a prompt a day. That’s how I use one, but like any journal there’s not really rules, so you could use it for pagan prayer but I don’t know what that would look like for you because it would kind of be up to you.
@@itsabelletime Thank you for your answer. I do spiritual mediumship and I have many dreams of angels and such, but I never thought of writing my prayers down in any shape or form, except if it was some kind of invocation to an entity such as a pagan god, in order to re-use it in another ritual. So the topic intrigued me. I was recently thinking of building an altar space or shrine for God in my house. Most people have figurines of Jesus, the holy Mary and Angels, but I never saw a shrine for God himself, as an entity, in someone's home. I wonder how it would look like. :)
The science notebook you should use it for abstract art if you want to just look up some inspiration online abstract art ideas on google arts or just google images😊❤
I love your collection of these beautiful notebooks. I am starting to get into pocket size notebooks I think they’re so convenient and comfortable to carry in my large purses. Thank you for sharing the two notebooks that you said you might use for spring screams spring vibes. I love going to shop at thrift stores as well❤❤❤
thanks for watching! and awesome to hear you'll be thrifting for notebooks too! they're so fun to hunt for! and yes I just started a new notebook for spring! all bright colors on it and I'm so excited to use it :)
@@itsabelletimeyes totally journals are so totally awesome❤❤❤ the last time I went to the thrift shop I did not see any notebooks but I am planning on going tomorrow to shop for a bag and some notebooks and barbie dolls❤❤❤
aw! Thanks for watching haha! the doodle planner was fun, but I ended up switching to the passion planner after it which I've not shown much on my channel but I LOVE!
Definitely go back and finish your summer journal.... the past memories can be in boxes labeled for the year and then you can go and journal in those when you feel like it and you have free time... you can also record your voice speaking about the memory boxes and be inspired from there when you listen in your free time. You can also do a journal just for past memories and have fun with it and pace yourself... go slow or as fast as you wish... take a break when you need to.... take pictures that sum up the feeling for the current days so things dont build up if you dont want them to. Make your own rules and break the ones you dont like.... art has no rules... life is art.
I love this… you might be the only person who has told me to go back and finish it lol… I’d still like to try to do so before I give up on it! Such a cool idea to record voice memos with the memories in the meantime!
I like to make it fun so I dont feel pressured, I have turned my life into art and your art and creative spark should be fun, it feels like your inner child is so happy and free.... you can even record videos for yourself as well. No one has to see what you dont want them to... but yes you should definitely go for it if your memories mean a lot to you... some ppl only take a picture for the day and write a quote or a few thoughts so they free up more time for past memories.Eye look forward to seeing your new videos... btw Im new to your channel and eye love it already@@itsabelletime
I have a question for everybody who all goes to thrift stores like St Vincent de Paul or Goodwill? Did you know that people give away writing stuff like cool writing paper to write on or journals that are partially used or sometimes even journals that are really not used with all blank pages and people also donate pens and other writing paper and notebooks and journals? So what do you guys think about using journals and notebooks and other line paper and other writing material from a thrift store? It's not that expensive so that's one way to save money and save the writing stuff from going to the dump because I know that dumpst are starting to run out of room so I guess it's a way of like recycling if you think about it that way. The thing is if you get journals and notebooks from thrift stores you should at least take out the pages that are used and recycle those so that way you could fill it up with all your own things. It is fine going to thrift stores and hunting for writing things and sometimes you may find some other cool things to that you want to buy and thrift stores also have other things that you might like to add to a journal too. I love going to thrift stores and hunting for journaling things are things that are just writing related also if you check out the book section you may find some different books on different types of journals that you can use and these ones are like guided journals in a way so they give you ideas on what to do in those books and it's fun. So I would like to know how many people would use writing material from a thrift store? I don't see nothing wrong with using things that you find in a thrift store have fun craft things to do. Have fun searching for your writing things at thrift stores because when I go I have fun finding different items for writing and I see nothing wrong with it. What do you guys all think about getting writing materials and any kind of crafts items at a thrift store? Going to thrift stores what's saving money and you'll have fun hunting for those things. I really recommend that a lot of people do this to save the planet and so we don't have so much waste in the landfills. Also I think it's a good way of recycling if more people could look at it like that it's perfect for everyone. I suggest that people do a lot more shopping at thrift stores to find things to use for crafts are no books and journals. The Hunt is fun in a thrift store for all these different things.
I really want to do the morning pages but I feel like the mess letters and all (which sure will happen since i will be sleepy and all) will drive me crazy! The punch studio one is soooo pretty :OOO Question: what do you do if all the finished journals? Like, they must need so much space, how do you keep them (if you keep them)?
I had been putting them in some plastic drawers in my room, but I ran out of space... so I started piling them on my bookshelf but still didn't have enough room (already full of books 🤷🏼♀)... recently I was able to replace both my skinny bookshelf and those plastic drawers with a larger, wider bookshelf. So now I just have a whole shelf in that bookcase dedicated to them! I'm really happy with my new storage system because it's so much easier to see them/get to them, and they're on/in something much sturdier now too.
For the spiral notebook, why don't you remove the rest of the pages? you can even save them and put them on a separate spiral!! Just remove this spiral, separate the empty pages and put it back on your written ones! I think this will also help preserve the notebook since it won't be that expanded any more!
I’d have to see if I have another notebook spiral hanging around haha! I know I’ve saved some in the past, though I may have used the wire for something else 😅 thanks for the suggestion
I personally think: If you are finished with a book, then it is finished, no matter if you filled out every last page. A lot of people leave a bunch of empty pages at the end. Not a big deal. Because empty pages can tell a story, too. 🖤🖤
I think for the ephemera, journal pockets are a lot less effort and quite efficient. But if you were to glue them in then may be try to not worry about context and let them be memory objects by themselves.
I like your planners, I need to get into doing them to get more organize with other projects. I just started journaling last year so I’ve only finished 4 journals and 1 this year. Those little journals are so cute, especially the Paris one.
Personally, I would remove the empty pages from your camp journal and let it be complete as it is. Or glue in the last few bits of "stuff" but don't worry about writing a long entry about it. Otherwise it will get pretty chunky if you try to use it again for another summer, and I like the feeling of a fresh new notebook too much, lol. Since it's spiral bound it's easy to just tear the pages out and it won't feel unfinished anymore. I think the way you used your last journal is the easiest to keep up with and not fall behind. When you have time or want to write a long entry, do that, but if you don't have time just glue the ephemera in with a date or short note. Or if you dislike that, you could even have one journal for ephemera like a smash book and another for writing. I don't really use my journals for lots of writing so my advice might not be right for you, but I know if I fall behind I will never go back no matter how much I tell myself I will, lol, that journal will just be half empty forever. Which is okay! But I like keeping all the tickets and wrappers etc. Like someone else commented, that can still bring back lots of memories, or even if it doesn't, someday in 20+ years it will still be fun to look at even if you don't remember every detail about it. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for such a thoughtful comment! I think in looking back at how I "failed" to keep up with my ephemera I don't notice as much how I did, for about half the year! My summer journal was almost completed (just not filled) and my yellow fall journal did get completed! I think I am just gonna start doing more popping stuff in, even if I don't write about the memory :) thanks for your suggestions
I had one of those travel journals too and tried using it! I ended up ripping out the few pages I used and donating it because it was terrible to even try writing in. I guess it just shows that not all the cute journals are always practical to use lol I had a handful of journals I didn't finish last year too and I think that's okay. We can always come back to them in the future if we feel drawn to them!
Right! I forgot to even mention how the ring holes kept ripping and the pages kept falling out! And yeah I figured so many of us have unfinished journals that it’d be good idea to show it!
Don’t be too hard on yourself. I think I would just glue in all the ephemra anyway. If you get a chance to write then that’s an added bonus. But I think seeing things you collected will trigger memories. In any case, I enjoyed hearing about your travels.
thanks for commenting! I've really thought about that... even just like scrapbooking... taping something in and saying the date and what it's from! we'll see when I get to it haha!
Hi there, I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I love to watch journaling videos. It’s hard for me to write everyday in my journals because I will either forget to or just not be in the mood to write. I do love your pages, they’re decorated so nicely. I need to go back and finish my old journals. The journal that you shared at the end was my favorite because of all details of decorating. I’ve never seen journals like your traveling one before but yes it would definitely get on my nerves with it’s wobbling and yeah I would take the pages out and put them in an another journal. I’m going to watch your other videos. I’m enjoying your content.
I love this! I’ve made a handful of diy journals too with paper scraps and noteboo paper I’ve had leftover from school too! It’s nice to be able to put the paper to good use! Thank you for sharing 😊
I don’t know… I’ll be finishing my art journal soon and hope to flip through that when completed. I’ve also got a few planner flip through from the past couple of years up!
Beautiful journals! Ever since discovering fountain pens (which finally got me into journaling) I have become a paper snob lol. I do have a collection of 10 journals because the paper was discontinued & I had some FOMO, but for the most part if I want any fun covers I will be investing in journal covers rather than cute journals.
NB: this is not meant to be rude. People are so weird, i never knew a blank journal videos were a... genre? on youtube. I dont have anything insightful to add, other than hopefully you filling these will help you to be more mindful and stronger person.
Not rude at all! Yeah I never would have known it’d be such a big thing… we can blame hyper consumerism for that… not a very sustainable practice, which is why I try to thrift most of these! It may take some time, but I’ll fill them all!
I enjoyed seeing all your blank journals. I thought I was the only one who had a stack of them. :) I also love thrift stores and have purchased several of my journals while thrifting. So awesome that you are going to World Youth Day! You will have an amazing experience. God bless.
Haha you are certainly not alone in having a stack of blank books! Though I wouldn’t have as many if I hadn’t Thrifted so many of them… I’m pretty cheap haha. Thanks for watching ‘
