This has been a go to spot for years, in the warmer months it's teaming with them, but doesn't seem to be any natives, I'm thinking because it's just a drain, the good news is there is always a large die back each season and only a few tough ones survive, it's a good source of live feeders or good stock for breeding projects.
Please be aware that while I have been unable to locate detailed information about all of the different species of gudgeons southern purple spotted gudgeons are an endangered species and a protected species it is illegal to catch, keep, posses, sell or harm southern purple spotted gudgeons.
Where abouts is this spot? I found tonnes of gambusia & swordtails up the top of parfrey Rd in the creek and the little lake up there yesterday. I'd love to get some of those orange platys
It's a beautiful little creek, shame about all the invasive fish living there, good to see a good population of Eels though, the snake skin looks like it might be from a Keelback or also known as Freshwater Snake, common around creeks and good for Cane Toad control as they are one snake that can actually eat them, when you find a skin the snake is actually much smaller because when they sloth the skin slides of the top and underside of the scales that then makes the skin much larger then the snake it self so a metre long skin will probably come from a snake probably only 50 to 70cm, unfortunately Keelbacks get mistaken for Brown Snakes and people kill them, where they are harmless and good for the environment, in saying that no snake should be killed or harmed, best left alone to do their own thing, even Brown Snakes are good for rodent control, I hope this helps 🙂
@@goldpanningwithscott 😂😂😂. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve heard that!! “Don’t tell me about boats fella” 😂😂. My comment was for your millions of viewers and the rest of the world than for you. If you’re Australian, you know clearly what you’re doing
@@goldpanningwithscott Agreed! I'm also doing a video at the moment on the Pearl Cichlid, I wend diving with them the other day and it was disheartening to see just how many there were, much more then a few years ago so they are spreading well, lots of adults with fry to.
@@goldpanningwithscott I went out today after seeing your video- local creek in Caloundra- must have caught 500 gudgeons in about 20 mins/ at least I think they were gudgeons
