For me overall I really like Raleigh, I have lived in some major cities, Detroit, Miami, Chicago, and even Greenville SC.. My biggest complaint is all of the beggars, and people throwing beds frames, there trash all over.. To many beggars I have never seen so many in one city, is there homelessness sure, but do I believe they are homeless absolutely not, when they have a cash app number you can send money to they are just down lazy to go and get a job, and I have never seen so much trash all over, and people taking shopping carts and just leaving them wherever…

This is exciting, I hope they have more shade in their new location. Holy wow! It's hot when you're going to a show in July! And Raleigh definitely needs a better, nicer, newer convention center.
Great video. We lived in Amberly for a few years and LOVED the pools, food trucks, events and walking trails. The pool never felt packed, we always got in a shaded area. The clubhouse/ fitness center is pretty dated but otherwise we loved living there.
I personally feel the places you picked were too costly for the average home buyer. What I call upper class cities. My first choice is Garner. My home is reasonably priced, 15 minutes from Downtown Raleigh, and only 30 minutes from the Airport, and I40 goes right past Garner, which puts you at the Beach in no time. Not to mention lots, of shopping and convenience. It’s a nice quiet community compared to Raleigh and Durham. Durham in my opinion is too high in the crime category. We all have our own opinions. After living in Garner for 12 years now, I wouldn’t consider moving to another place in NC.
Thanks for sharing! Garner is definitely a more affordable option around the triangle with a median sales price of 420,000 for a single family home in 2024!
There’s no real culture here, no real downtown area, restaurants roll up the sidewalks at 9pm, very vanilla and has lost its charm. Private school was a requirement. Paying too much for less here. Poor city planning. One giant suburb with a failing downtown scene. Lots of great places in NC this is just not hitting on much.
@@sokratzmmf Buffalo NY! We are the only city where normal people can afford to rent a nice sized home and our schools are some of the best in the nation. Buffalo has possibly THE best Summers in the United States. You have so much nature in and around the Buffalo area. Close to Canada, close to other fun areas like Lewiston NY, Rochester, NY. Some of the best state parks are in or near Buffalo. You can actually live in downtown Buffalo and not pay an arm and a leg to do so. Yes, we have high amounts of snow in the Winter but our winters really aren't that bad compared to other snowy areas. It rarely gets below freezing. Buffalo NY is an up and coming city with rich culture and lots to do. Come visit Buffalo NY! Our waterfront is absolutely STUNNING! Plus, Buffalo is 35 minutes from Niagara Falls!
Watching price cuts and houses sitting much longer. Lots of home builders slashing prices as of July 2024. Less inbound migration. Tech job layoffs. I think house prices will drop 20% in next few years.
When we planned our move from Roanoke, VA, we had 2 options: Atlanta or Raleigh area. Not affordable: New built home from same builder (Pulte), was costing us $300/sqft in Atlanta, while Raleigh area it costed us $185/sqft. Agree prices increased, but it's across the country. Complicated school system: Coming from Roanoke, though my son (2nd grade) was in a good school, after we moved to WF, we noticed schools are more competitive compared to Roanoke. He took his time to get adjusted but he definitely struggled in initial days of his school. Now we could see a lot of improvement and his teachers are very focused my son's growth. Lack of public transportation: I lived is NJ, CA, VA. I noticed this issue almost everywhere. Vanilla: I guess we shouldn't be expecting entertainment if we're not happy with it's fast growth. Fast growth brings in new people, new businesses, more options for entertainment.

We have one of the most educated populations in the US, so it makes sense those parents might instill similar values into their children! We are happy to hear you are liking it here!
Very true! East Asian couple moved here about 2 yrs ago getting local (non tech) paychecks. We found the area being not as affordable as it was advertised. Authentic Asian food being more expensive than a lot of places in NYC bcuz of lack of competition. Very few things we can do after work, although I have spent the past two years studying for two major professional certificates thanks to the quietness of the area. IMO it is a nice charming area where people came for job opportunities, which boomed during the past 10 yrs and which pushed up real estate market, but the city itself is not growing as fast as jobs and houses, making the value of the move questionable.

People keep trying to sell Durham. For decades. Known many yuppies proud to move there and were gone within a year. Do your research b4 moving there...

Congrats on the upcoming move!! We love WF you are going to enjoy it for sure! no news at this time on the WF Costco situation but there is a current Sam's Club so hopefully that can be helpful in the meantime! There is a Costco in Raleigh nearby as well if you are willing to leave WF for a bit!
Check out the Wake Forest development map. Costco is rumored to be built right next to the Lowe's across from Wegmans. Also, rumors that at trader Joe's will either go directly across from Wegmans or closer to the new Costco.
Liar it is a horrible place! Every trail has sewage going in to the river ,constant shootings, and 100% discrimination against women.....pay is horrible and being car jacked is a norm there...and homles can get pan handling permits

Hi everyone, my family and I need to move to Rayleigh because of a job transfer. The official offer will take effect this coming January. Out of all the videos we watched we have chosen you. We love your disarming dispositions, warmth and energy. How soon in advance should we contact you? We are an ethnic family. We are respectful of people, we are quiet and warm natured. Do you know whether we would be welcomed in NC, particularly in this area? We admit we feel apprehensive. We come from a Blue state where the people are educated and diverse. However our in particular town it’s not that way. The population here is not particularly found of other nationalities especially from certain countries. Our native country is an ally of this great country so we’re not understanding of the unwelcome sentiment here. We want our next move to be in an area where we won’t have to endure things we have thus far. We will bring value to Rayleigh as a doctor and a healthcare worker in Phlebotomy. Inventory being up these substantial %s has be looked at in terms of where we were last year. Wasn't inventory ridiculously low a year ago? I watch my mother's neighborhood carefully and the resales seem to be flying off the market if they are fairly priced. The ones that sit are clearly way above the market. As for new homes in Raleigh, it seems to be mostly townhouses and an inordinate number of million dollar+ homes. At least that's what I'm seeing.
You are spot on about inventory being low last year! There certainly is a perspective element to this. You have to go back to 2020 to see June inventory higher than it was this past June. But we still are below what we had pre-Covid. High prices and high rates have also hit buyer demand so hard it's slowing the market down even though inventory is lower than pre-Covid times. It's an interesting market!
