Welcome to English Village. On this channel you can see the everyday lives of British expats in Russia and their adventures around the country.
On top of this, if you aren’t a native English speaker this channel aims to improve your English skills by teaching you British pronunciation, native speaker idioms, and everyday expressions.
I noticed that you seemed to have an unpleasant situation during your walk that spoiled your mood. If so, it's a pity you didn't film them, at least in the background. As they say, the country should know its 'heroes.' What can I say about this... Two things: First, Russia is potentially a country of extremes in everything, both good and bad, 'you never know where you'll find or lose,' and you need to be prepared for extreme actions - actually, not just in Russia, but there it's almost a given However, this does not mean that all such situations should be resolved through conflicts. The nuance is that you should have a real choice, the ability to choose between the extreme points of possible reactions. To do this, you need to be prepared; this is called real Life (as opposed to just 'life'), without risk and sometimes even significant risk, it won't work. And then you will be calm, and your mood will not be spoiled. Good luck! P.S. I am actively using AI now and asked ChatGPT-4 to give its opinion on the essence of the comment. I think its additional explanation might be helpful: "Opinion on the essence of the advice: Filming offenders: This advice can be interpreted as active participation in life and a desire to change the world around you. However, it is important to consider the risks and possible consequences of such actions. Extreme situations and readiness for them: Accepting extreme situations as an inevitable part of life requires inner readiness and the ability to cope with them. This is indeed an important aspect of a fulfilling life. Conscious choice in reactions to conflicts: The advice that you don't always have to choose confrontation emphasizes the importance of conscious choice. This is an aspect of maturity and wisdom in the approach to life. Conclusion: The comment offers a deep philosophical view of life, emphasizing the importance of active participation, readiness for challenges, and conscious choice. 'Real Life' with a capital 'L' is a life full of risk and challenges, but also opportunities for growth and self-realization. This approach requires courage and readiness to accept both pleasant and difficult moments of life, which makes it truly fulfilling."
That's the thing with Russians, bro. You have to know a person to earn a smile. They won't smile back at you "just 'cause", they will smile when they really feel like it, not when it's expected of a person to fake it.
Okay, I subscribed. I hope it will be interesting to look at Russia through the eyes of a Brit, and at the same time it will be useful to listen to a non-American accent. For some reason, I suddenly remembered a quote from a famous Soviet comedy: "- Well, if you come to our place on Kolyma, you'll be welcome... - No way! You'd better come to us!" 😂😂😂 Greetings from Krasnoyarsk!✌😉
You will definitely get a distorted understanding of Russia and its history if Katya is the guide and lecturer. She does not know the history of Russia, grew up and was brought up more on the American cultural product, the lost generation of the period of globalization of the liberal type in the American way. I don't judge her, most of her peers are like that, and she's a great girl.
The drone moment was funny. Interesting format. It’s too long for my taste tbh. It’s a beautiful city. I’ll watch the whole vid when I have the time. Other channels never show this city.
Hey guys! Your a very nice couple, that would be very good to see more about the place you live now, your plans on it and what do you both do in there! Thanks!:) Please, don't be worry about haters, they are everywhere!
Hi! Thank you very much for interest, it means a lot to us. These ideas are great. We will try to make few videos about it. Thanks again for your nice comment)
TD RS and Craig Hughes are VICIOUS trolls (not trolls, bots). They’ve come from Travelling with Russell. They are under his every video. TD RS is not here yet for some reason. Chaldon 41 and Alex Bayer are ones, too. I haven’t figured out which side they’re trolling for. I seldom pay attention. But they are everywhere. I’ve seen thousands of their comments going political all the time. Russell never blocks anyone. He only deletes single comments. They come back again and again. I would block Russians, too. But they are very few. I’m not apologizing them, they are really 10:1 ratio “optimistically”.
@@EnglishVillage_in_Russia I respect that. I'm with you. 👍But - you haven't been around much 🙂. Their only gaol is to discredit the channel. I know, they'll send some more - but those four - everyone knows them. And Max Ring - very "famous". They're lost in the commts NOW on the Russells channel but it used to be pretty bad. Stay strong.
Café propaganda 😂 crap food, poor hygiene (one lady serves food while on her phone the whole time. The jukebox is a German 90‘s CD one - Soviets didn’t have CD jukeboxes😂
Hi, thank you! It’s Alec and Katya. There are few restaurants and pubs in Moscow. Our favourite one is Sous-Sol pub at Patriarchs Ponds. It’s has quite a big British expat community.
What does politics have to do with it? This cafe is for those who miss the times of the USSR when such canteens were everywhere in the country. They cook as close as possible to what was in those days. Well, all peoples have different tastes - you won't like a lot of what we eat, and we won't eat a lot of what they eat in your country.
Only some of the posters on the walls are authentic in this cafe “in the style of the USSR”. Neither the furniture nor the objects with Soviet symbols displayed in the display case at the entrance look like real Soviet ones.
If you want to have a distorted view of something, ask an amateur about it, he will tell you his understanding and his interpretation of the question, in which he is an amateur and has his own limited experience without understanding the big picture. Congratulations, you did it, it's hard to find the worst expert in the field of Russian education, but you're lucky.
