My name is Bill and I'm a record collector. This is my little presence in the vast vinyl community universe. I'm calling this channel The Vinylverse. In early 2016, I dusted off my vinyl record collection after years of being stored away. Shortly thereafter I discovered the vinyl community on RU-vid. Ever since then the hunt has been on.
This channel and series of videos is intended for all lovers of music and specifically vinyl records. I try my best to keep the content and context of my videos family friendly but the intention of these videos is geared more for an adult audience.
Thanks Steve. I really enjoyed putting this series together. A lot of work but enjoyable. It's nice to hear that you are enjoying them. And that was totally my intent to have something to play in the background during the halloween season. Even though I have the records I like pulling them up to listen to at work also.
One of the first German Krautrock bands that I ever listened to. I had a friend who was really into Moog synths and bands who used them. It really wasn't my thing at the time. I was more into the hard rock scene in the early/mid to later seventies. But after getting into King Crimson I started to explore more. Plus the VC opened up the door to a quite a few seventies bands. You have excellent taste in music Bill~ Rob/Boston
Hey Rob, I love hearing about your journey. I didn't know about Popol Vuh until joining the VC. One of the greatest benefits of this wonderful community is discovering and exploring music. Popol Vuh have grow into a favorite of mine. I first saw the 1979 version of Nosferatu about 7 years ago or so. I think it's an underrated vampire movie. The soundtrack is also very underrated and very Popol Vuh. I was happy when I uploaded it and saw that it was not blocked. Thanks for stopping in for a listen to this one. Also, I have to mention how much I enjoy the Buckethead album you sent me. My first listen I was grinning from ear to ear because I had no idea how experimental it was. Both sides are enjoyable but side 1 is really spectacular. It's one track per side but the way he moves through different styles and time signatures fits right in my wheelhouse. Thanks again!
@@TheVinylverse Thank you so much Bill. It pleases me immensely that you enjoyed it. I was hoping that you would. Really appreciate hearing it. I wish that I could track down more of his releases. They are short printed and kind of pricey. Have a super week~
I saw these guys play live in a little bar in Dallas somewhere when I was right out of high school. Must have been 77 or 78. I had Gentle Giant and Three Friends on 8 track and wore them both out. ❤ They were truly an acquired taste and I loved them. Thanks for sharing this!
I had absolutely no idea about this record, but the album cover and title grabbed my attention. And I'm glad that happened. Great album. Thank you for sharing it!
Real Gone Music does such a great job with their reissues. I noticed you had a couple copies over your shoulder in a recent video. I picked this up last year and thought it'd fit great with my 13 Days Of Halloween series. Who doesn't love some good Moog!
@@TheVinylverse I LOVE the score to Ends. Especially The Junk Yard track. And the Procession. I hope he puts out a "best of" compilation from the trilogy. Though I don't need it, I would buy it. haha
Thanks Rob! And yes the Motown label. Actually, Rockwell is the son of Berry Gordy. The refrain with Michael Jackson is so catchy and sticks in your head.
Hey Steve! Agreed that it's Rockwell's only good song. And good is being generous, lol. The Michael Jackson refrain is so catchy. I watched the video for this as I was putting together my video and he runs around in a towel for most of it. Weird, lol. Thanks for stopping by for a listen!
Hey Rob! Goblin are great and made some really good soundtracks. The music is pretty creepy at parts. And the movie is wild. The remake is very good too. Thanks for stopping by for a listen!
sounds like you got some of Waxwork’s trademark clicks and pops on Side C … wish their records actually played as good as they look (and as rich as they cost)
Hi, thanks for checking this out. Actually it's a bit confusing trying to figure out who were in the band. I'm pretty sure Duane Eddy is on guitar but other than that it's a mystery. Believe it or not there is speculation that Sun Ra and members of the Blues Project are on this recording as they released the Batman and Robin album around this same time. It has a very similar sound.
Suzanne Ciani is quite amazing. Got the 2024 edition of her Buchla Concerts 1975 - Fantastic album.. Caretaker is not exactly an easy listen, but very interesting indeed. Achtung Baby is one of the U2 albums I can listen to again - even POP is a good one imo.
Hello again! Thanks for stopping by. I picked up the Suzanne Ciani 1975 Buchla concert too. Also, grabbed the one from 1974. They are both great. I don't really listen to U2 but if I do it'll typically be Achtung Baby!
Fantastic soundtrack. This and Escape from New York are my all time favorites. I´ve got the Silva-Screen versions of both, but not very happy with their pressings - pops and clicks don´t belong on new pressings ! Great quality upload ! Thank you :)
I am not sure if I have seen the movie, but sounds like a very era appropriate sound track. I prefer the little older scary movies. Some nostalgic feelings I suppose.
Hey Rob, I'm pretty sure it's Duane Eddy on guitar. The musicians are definitely no slouches. I think it's a fun record. Thanks for stopping by for day 1!
Thanks Richard. Yeah, it's a fun record. A bunch of these records were put out. I have a few and like you said lightens the mood. It's enjoyable to pull out this time of year.
Love the green screen! Wish I had time for this, but with all my upcoming travel to the NYC area, picking up finds, etc and of course my record store, ugh! But it's nice we're going to get little bread crumbs from Uncle Billy leading up to Halloween. POOOKE!!!
Got it quite a while ago. I had plans to utilize it more with Will. Didn’t really happen this year. Maybe next year. This was a good excuse to dust it off though.
Thanks Beth! And let me just say... I don't know how you do your clips practically everyday. For a minute there I thought I bit off more than I can chew. But it all came together. And, you'll be happy to know that Mr. Carpenter is represented! 👻
@@TheVinylverse I worked most of September off and on getting everything scheduled out for October, so I could just coast and enjoy the month. There's my secret. Work ahead :D
I am late to the party here. Great response Bill! I have pigged out on a bit of Eastwind lately. A lot of great Japanse jazz and fusion releases. That Hackett album is great. High on the live ranking for me. Nice ending drop! Take care, Richard
Thanks Richard! I know you picked up a bunch from Mr. Golden when he had those EW releases. I enjoyed getting this vinyl tag together. It was a bit more challenging but I enjoyed Brian's questions and watching his video really made me want to jump in. Thanks for watching it. I know it was on the longer side. I hope all is well with you!
Nice video Bill. I missed this one of Brian's and I am glad you alerted me to it since my watch time is limited these days. The Passion was a good choice for the last question and I found it to be appropriate. Moreover, I have to thank you for the copy you gifted me. I do hope you will make to Japan someday. It's a totally different experience that I wish most could see. I am hoping to connect with Brian in person sometime next month if my work plans come together.
Hey Paul! Very nice to hear from you. Oh wow, I hope the stars align and you and Brian can get together. I've loved seeing you pop up in different locations throughout the past year. Brian's channel is so interesting and unique and I love that he put this vinyl tag out there. And even more that it's gotten a pretty good response. This has been one of my favorite vinyl tags to respond to. It was a challenge but a lot of fun for me to pull together. Thanks for watching it. Passion still remains my very favorite Peter Gabriel record. And With This Love is such a simple song but I just find it hauntingly beautiful. Japan is my number one place I'd like to visit but I don't think I'd ever be able to get my wife to want to go there. Maybe someday it will happen. I hope all has been well with you Paul. Take care!
Hi Bill!!! Well done and cool response to this tag...... with lots of challenging questions!!! hahaha none seems to like Jon's latest album artwork, to be honest it screams low budget!!! Btw cool japanese mini Lp's, there are other bands/artists who have done something similar like Ian Gillan, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden just to name a few. cheers and be well
