Hi, got a question l, I have a jk looking to upgrade my radio head unit I like the look of the k1 but no one has mentioned the audio, how does it sound music wise vs the stock. I am torn between the k1 and the kenwood exceleron 1057. The look of the k1 after install is very nice but I am pretty sure the kenwood is better for audio. Do you know the specs on the k1 for the audio, power per channel
I’m not sure the exact specs anymore.. I had the alpine speaker upgrade in my jk, and this made it sound better than stock. However, I can almost guarantee kenwood will sound better. Everything other after market head unit I’ve used has been kenwood. If I did not have the k1, that is what I would do.
Thanks for a great video. I know I’m coming at this a little late since this video is two years old, but if you are still checking it, I was curious if this head unit comes with an OBD connection so I can put my vehicle diagnostics displayed on my head unit? Thank you.
No worries!! To my knowledge there was not a hook up when I wired it. I still use the OBD JScan app. Maybe that app can connect to the unit? I guess I could try that, I never thought of trying. Good question. I will look into it!
No issues in the sun/ heat or cold. I can you it is not going to be water proof. On the back end and around the buttons there’s no water resistant material
@@only4jeeps571 yup. im trying to remember if the dash ever got really wet. I have been caught out in the rain, and even with the top off I usually carry the freedom panels in the back. They have protected me and the passenger from heavy rain and hail in the past. One trip had about an inch of hail in the back... its a jeep. So, still considering this, as long as I dont forget the panels.
If it’s wired correctly, I’d say it’s defective and would need to have @corobotor replace it. There may be a work around my checking terminals behind the screen but I have not seen that done
How did you turn the strip light below the radio on??? In the beginning of your vid yours is off, then about 14:10 it’s on. But you cut the vid and didn’t show how it turned on.
Yes it is! I know for many though, there have been issues. Been meaning to do another update, but life is busy. Hopefully come mid January I’ll have something out.
Hey Jake, great video very informative. I just have one question for you if you’re sitting in a jeep and you have the speedometer OEM I heard you say you leave the far left small black plugged in when you’re transferring all the other data why is that? I’ve seen other videos where they unplugged everything to do the data transfer, just curious because I want to order mine soon
That’s a great question.. I would be lying I said I knew exactly why. I received directions directly from carobotor. If I were to take a guess, maybe to supply power? Not too sure on that one! I just know for me, I’ve always left it plugged in when installing these
Hello. How did you turn on your ambience lighting ont he unit? Mine doesn''t work (so for keys and lines on bottom)? Also, were did you get he black vent trims? They look really cool!
I sand my oem trim and matte black painted them myself! Thank you. For your lights, they should go on with the wire harness and tap into your normal light control settings near the steering wheel. If not, the device might be defective 😬
Do the LED Markers , or should the LED markers, work as turn signals also? or is there something extra to do , to get that to work? Appreciate the video. Helped make this a smooth process.
Great video. I know its been up for a while and I've scoured the comments for an answer but didn't find one. Does the unit fit snugly in your dash after cutting? Does it make any rattling or creaking noise while driving? Thanks
It fits perfect, and I have not observed any rattling. I will say if you use your glove box for winch controls like I do, the extra wires can be a pain in the ass to sort through 🙃
I think you are misreading the camera abilities. The 360-720 is the dpi range of camera. Basically low definition only. Mirror cam, you didn't mention but that just flips the image on a camera to orient it correctly. it is a 2 camera system. Nothing more. Mine is still in the box and i am leaning toward keeping it there. I am seeing so much negative reviews. money spent already is bad enough but buying a new dash is another $250 if I hate this thing.
I have been lucky, no issues on my end. But I can’t support the product anymore. I’ve heard all the same bad reviews, will likely do a video on it this summer when time permits. I never installed 360, just did a custom mod for the back up💪
@@only4jeeps571 I have watched all of your videos. They are very good and helpful. Thank you for that. That being said, I find that in itself concerning. The marketing/support should not be a third person doing it out of interest in their product. Their own info is atrocious. You mention way more than they advertise. Everyone talks about firmware updates. I bought directly from them and there is no mention of support on their site. Sad because the thing is dripping with potential but I'm not sure they're going to get there. I have the dash too. I will install it. My stock one is just ugly (call of duty edition). I would love the interaction but I am going with stinger. Four cameras and talked going to eight. Thanks for the reply.
@@paulmartin769 I think that’s a good idea. They could have had an amazing product. Especially if it communicated w the jpro more. They just used it as a money grab and moved onto the JL. Oh well. I don’t care much, that’s what I get for trying to add technology to an off road vehicle 😂 their stuff ain’t even water proof from what I’ve been hearing. Unreal
Nice dash. One question with the digital dash if it goes bad a year from now and I want to plug back my OEM dash will it work again and then pick up the miles from the cam bus where I left off if the digital dash goes bad, I don’t wanna have a jeep that I have to trash because I don’t have a way of putting back the oem dash
It’s in the last module I believe when you scroll over. Selecting is weird and takes some getting use to. I’ll try to make a reel on it soon, Jeep is in the shop for paint so I’m just speaking off memory 😬
@@only4jeeps571 i got a tmobile sim and it seems too big the orientation isnt marked like where you put the notched corner man im not an idiot but just doesnt fit lol
Also my Bluetooth isn’t saving my contacts into the device. It works great with CarPlay but I never can use normal Bluetooth cause it says device disconnects each time
Bluetooth does the same for me. Only work around is to run wired CarPlay and eliminated wireless CarPlay:/ as far as internet goes, I don’t run a SIM card so I’m not sure how to fix that:/
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can fix the fact that when my K-1 boots up after starting the engine it only shows a white screen and I have to push the home button to have the home screen appear.
I would try to do a complete factory reset. If that doesn’t work, try to have them send out a new unit. However, they have the worst customer service so I wish you good luck !
No there has been no update for maps, or anything with the cluster. I think it’s just too different of softwares that they won’t be able to communicate
@@only4jeeps571 ohh, that’s a bummer. 🫤 I noticed when I’m playing music on Spotify , the dash media screen only shows a Bluetooth icon, not the song name… integration not as comprehensive as I expected. I’m happy with mine, but it could be better….
@@dmelfa1 totally agree. Bluetooth music shows and radio. That’s all I can get working. Carobotor made a lot of false claims, and seem to be more focused on pumping out new product instead of perfecting what they have. Tis a shame
@@only4jeeps571 finally got the K1 head unit installed and i used Google find my device to lock the K1 head unit (secure device) works Great. When I start up the Jeep enter in PW and all good. When the vehicle is powered off and turned back on again U will have to enter in PW just a good layer of security 🙌👍
I think aesthetic wise it’s great. I’ve had minor lags and glitches. However the customer service is terrible, and many people have had issues. If I swap it out/it dies, I will likely go with the kenwood with the wireless CarPlay.
@@only4jeeps571 thanks. Yeah that is the consensus with regards to customer service for sure. I have the jpro and about had my limit with it and them as a company. Thanks for the advice. I’ll likely avoid the k1
@@timw3411 anytime! I’m running their products till they die and not going back unless they do better. If they focused on products at hand instead of making new stuff like the JL model stuff they would likely do better. Poor planning
Hey there, so I have a after market subwoofer and amp. After installing my K1 radio the sound sounds cheap and the sun is not that loud. How can I adjust it.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! THEY ARE FAULTY AND YOU WILL NOT GET ANY HELP FROM THERE COMPANY. IT IS CHINESE BASED NOT CANADIAN. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Mine is usually running fine with both. How ever when there are issues, i’ve had to remove the wirelessapp to get wired to work. Now I just leave it, I don’t have a reason for wired anymore😬
