I just watched this video with my 7 yr old grandson. I've been teaching most of my "littles" (grandchildren) ASL since 2020! I learned some ASL in 5th grade & after rededicating my life to Jesus on 3/3/2020, the Lord renewed my love for ASL worship & ASL in general, so I began doing video visits with my grandchildren to supplement their education while at home during that difficult first year of lockdowns. I noticed your shirt has JESUS on the sleeve! I love it!! God bless you, sir! 👑✝️❤️🌎👨👩👧👧🐑☝🏼💪🏾⚓️🪨🏔🏰🛡🗡📖🙏🏻🛐🎶🙌🏼🧂🕯💧🔥🕊🤟
I just found you and wow. I don’t think I’ve ever picked up on anything so quickly. I appreciate how easy you make this to learn I really do feel like as I’m watching you do more sentences I can start making my own that I would use on a more regular basis but I’m still picking up the other pieces that I might need along the way. You are amazing ♥️
I am taking an online ASL Class but am also learning so much more from youtube. I really enjoy SWO! I love that Omar explains in detail what each hand is doing, he repeats the sign, sometimes shows it from different angles, and sometimes explains an easy way to remember the sign "It's like you're doing *blank*". I usually don't subscribe to channels but have happily subscribed to Signing With Omar as I am learning so much! 😊
When I learned “HOW” it was the same double thumbs up, but both hands turning to be facing sideways. Is that just an alternate way of signing it, or is that incorrect?
I didn't think i could ever figure this out, but you make it pretty easy to understand. I have a LONG LONG way to go to understanding ASL but you've given me some hope! Thank you Mr. Omar.... You have no idea what this means to me to learn this! I truly do appreciate it. Thank you for sharing this invaluable information.

This is an absolutely wonderful thing you've doing. I'm going to start practicing off your channel because I'd love to know how to communicate with the deaf. Im very surprised you dont have more traction. Don't let the algorithm get you down
Very Good question: The signs are very similar with the exception of facial expression & speed of movement. -Soon has a gentle movement to the chin -very good at: (different facial expression) the movement is faster to the chin
Quick question from a student here! Why do the eyebrows go down when asking someone if they need help? I was taught that yes/no questions usually go alongside a lifted eyebrow expression. Is it because you are expressing concern? Thanks!
I do not have the technical answer: however, I tend to agree with the demonstrating of concern… It appears a natural reaction of the eye browse on the face while asking questions…
