Sharing my story after losing 100 pounds through bariatric surgery!
My name is Shea and I’m here to share my life with you. While many people have niches they focus on in their content, I keep my options open. Here you can expect to see what my life looks like after having bariatric surgery in March 2022, fun adventures, how I’m healing from polycysticovarian syndrome (PCOS), how I'm working through mental and emotional trauma and lifestyle vlogs that are sure to feature my corgis and people in my community.
In many ways, I’m hoping to share highlights of the variety show that is my life. So sit back, relax, get some snacks and hang out with me! You are so wanted here.
That’s awesome! I liked all of the sit down restaurants a lot. The little self-serve food station wasn’t awesome. We loved having espresso martini at the lobby bar in the evening and try a Scooby Doo shot!
I'm proud of u too! u look wonderful! I'm so grateful for your mentioning the shame associated with all the failures of weight loss. I truly. love. love love that u r listening intuitively . yes..we fail to listen to that inner voice..im so glad u r. hearing it now! I'm on day 1 of my pre surgery diet. its. good to know. the. 2nd. part after may. be more challenging. thank u so much. for. your courage. to. share. so honestly.

Shea, I appreciated everything you shared. I'm heading for surgery in a few months and your video is one of the most reassuring I've watched. Listening to your body, to your intuition. Thank you.
Aww thank you so much for your kind comment and congratulations on the journey that lies ahead!! So happy and excited for you! I JUST posted a video where I answer a ton of questions about my WLS journey that might also be helpful. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to support you! 🩷
This is such an inspiring story. Thank you for sharing it. I just had my gastric bypass 18 July and for the same exact reasons you stated. I put in so much work before but my body never matched the work I did. Wow what an amazing video ❤
Aww I'm so glad you found my channel! Obesity is a disease and a complex one at that. I'm so excited for you advocating for yourself and seeking treatment to help! Feel free to reach out on Instagram @growwithshea any time! I'd love to hear how your journey goes!!!

Thank you head of time could you please give me an idea of how far was Cabo Wabo cantina is from the resort we are going there in the fall and really want to go to see the cantina and wanted to know how far we would have to go, thank you and is so appreciated of any and all help.
That’s awesome! Cabo Wabo is about a 12 minute drive from the Riu. I believe there is a shuttle you can take to get to town or you can grab an Uber to get you down there. 😊
The salmon was absolutely amazing and the ice cream had the perfect amount of sweetness! Thank you for the yummy dinner Shea and for the delicious drinks Dillon!
i am curious about how the female brain works.. what exactly makes a hiking trail " cute" or not.. i mean we all agree puppies are cute and some girls are cute but a hiking trail ? i am confused.... and side note,,, i am a professional chef... your gravy split because you got milk too hot... you can not boil milk . only cream.. milk splits when it gets too hot. it has nothing to do with any ratios.
I love your story and its my 5th day post op and i feel great.cant wait for the results of ny surgery.for me i feel that i made the best decision. Mine was affordable in Turkey and the Doctor❤ super professional.
I'm going through pre-op testing right now and hoping I can get the sleeve in July '24. I'm very independent and have always conquered everything that came my way, but couldn't conquer sustained dieting, much less weight loss. I've been hard on myself for not being able to do this, but have come around to the idea of surgery because at 68, my time is too short, and yet too long, to be spending it hindered and limited by weight. I've tried everything under the sun to lose the extra pounds, and even though some people view bariatric surgery as the "easy way out", I've suffered long enough and don't care what anyone else thinks. I, and my quality of life, are worth it. I loved this video, and I'm so happy for you.
You’re amazing, Debra!!!! Obesity is a disease that needs treatment. So happy you’re looking into a treatment to help. Not sure if you’re on Instagram, but there’s a woman named Michele and her account is @gasbygranny. She had weight loss surgery in her 60’s. Might be a helpful person to follow and reach out to! She’s wonderful. 🤍 Best of luck with everything! Please reach out if you need anything at all. 🤍🤍🤍
I was annoyed I had to wait to get my surgery. Up to 3 months and lots of pre surgery appointments. I'm glad now because I decided not to do it. Did lots of research and saw a new PCP. It pays to get a second opinion. On my blood, I had really bad numbers. My A1c indicated diabetes and no one reached out to me about it. My doctor was shocked also. I'm taking Ozempic and doing the whole lifestyle change and my doctor is helping me tremendously just by listening.
That’s so wonderful! I’m so glad you found a doctor who listened and could offer you treatment options so you could be fully informed on choosing the best one for you. I’m hoping the more people talk about obesity, the more educated our healthcare system can be and the more resources we can have more available. Thank you for sharing part of your journey here!
I've spent 6 mos going thru the program to get my VSG. the process is important. You have to show that you can change your diet, are cleared by psych, have a healthy enough body to go thru the surgery. Quick fix is not a good process for surgery
@@veronicavatter6436 That’s awesome! Congratulations! I think everyone’s process can look different depending where they’re at in their journey. I had done a lot of nutrition and mental health work 2 years before surgery so I felt ready to do it. Having surgery is a big decision and getting the support you need before is definitely so important. Best of luck in your journey! ❤️
I'm having a gastric sleeve on 1st August (2024) (in the UK). Very nervous but excited too. Videos like this of people's experiences are very helpful! X
Yay! That’s so exciting!!! It’s totally normal to feel nervous. Feel free to follow me on Instagram @growwithshea or reach out via email at GrowWithShea@gmail.com if you have any questions or need any support! ❤️
A club 33 bariatric meetup would be so freaking awesome. I’d go in all the debt to get there lol. 😂 there’s gotta be a member in the community lol. 6:53
With insurance coverage, I ended up paying $8800 and was able to finance it through a company Blossom recommended. Prices are always different depending on insurance and where you go to get it done. Hope that helps!
I really enjoyed your story, thanks for sharing with us. I too had gastric sleeve four months ago having a great experience so far my only downfall is constipation, but pushing through it I take MiraLAX every day. I’m surprised with insurance you had to pay so much out of pocket. I was so fortunate to pay my deductible and my insurance covered the rest.
@@sherrytiago6930 Congratulations on your journey! Yes, the constipation was rough for me in the beginning too. Miralax was super helpful. I’m glad my story has been helpful! Feel free to follow me on Instagram @growwithshea or email me at growwithshea@gmail.com if you have any questions or need support! ❤️
Thank you for reaching out! I did a more in-depth video about my PCOS journey. It’s in my Bariatric Surgery/PCOS playlist. I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was on medication before bariatric surgery. After surgery, my numbers improved so I went off of medication. At about 1.5 years post-op, I needed to go back on thyroid medication. Hope this helps! 😊
Subscribed to you today great info and appreciate you speaking about obesity as a disease❤ I wasn’t aware the bariatric surgery resets your metabolism/ hormones . In the process to of getting the surgery
Aww thank you for the kind comment and congratulations on your journey ahead. If you have any questions or need any support, feel free to follow me on Instagram/Tik Tok or email me at growwithshea@gmail.com. There is such a cool community of people who have had bariatric surgery! ❤️
