btw, guys, this is an old video of mine from my old account. I did this top speed run with my cellphone in one hand and my right hand on the throttle. didn't know what I was thinking but I was young so I did whatever to get the footage lol. I did this at a safe location though. its an industrial road for trucks mainly but they rarely pass. its a 7km straight. Didn't know it would have picked up this many views though, jees
I own a 2005 hyo Gt650R, and it keeps running good... is not a fast bike, but it does the job well. *good handling *good as a first bike *good reliability(if you take care of it) *good mpg --only issues i had : *rear brake pads goes fast (it doesnt happen to other bikes i had) *Because of the carburetor, in cold mornings takes like 10 min to turn it on
Overall my assessment is this, nice bike, I wouldn't be comfortable abusing it the way you can a Japanese bike, but if you take good care of it, do a proper break-in and careful maintenance, I suspect it will last you. I would never pay MSRP for a Hyosung. Find a dealer that has a leftover from a previous model year (these things don't sell very well because of the skepticism) so you can get one for cheap.
My brother has a 2008 GT650 naked, bought it new as a leftover last November for $4000 out the door. We've done everything we can to be critical of the bike, but so far he is very happy with it. The parts that matter seem to be built well, the motor runs nice, the frame is solid, and the brakes and suspension are quite good. It's the little things that are annoying, soft fasteners prone to stripping and rounding, no available MPH speedo for the naked version, manual written in 'korenglish'.
