Sticker sent me flying out of the shower one day to find out who the hell had the nerve to create a song like that. It popped up in a playlist out of the blue, and after years of listening to K and J-pop mostly out of curiosity, a band had finally done something that made me sit up and take notice. And it's been 127 love from then on. So, blessings upon you for the deep dive into the miracle that Sticker was, is and always will be.
Thanks for your analysis. I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about Sticker in such detail. I love how you love it. Visually, I really think "Kick It" is a gem too. The colors in these videos are incredible. Idk if it's texture or what, but one of the things I love about NCT 127 specifically is the unexpected juxtaposition of the pieces. Does that even make sense? I guess whatever it is that makes them known as being experimental. If you're talking about texture, I also really love Taeyong's "Shalala" song and MV. Btw, Taeyong is my ult bias in all of K-pop, and I have to ask if you've heard his solo work? The b-sides on his newest album TAP were so good. Talk about variety! Every song was a different genre. I loved it! He's such a talented and artistic songwriter. Anyway, thanks again for your reflection on Sticker. His SoundCloud is also amazing.
I’m glad you liked the video 😁. I’ve been listening to NCT 127 for a couple years & while I do think they’ve always had an experimental sound, I feel like ‘Kick It’ was where they REALLY nailed how to express that sound visually. It really is a beautiful video. & the transitions?? *chef’s kiss* I’ve heard ‘Shalala’ & loved it! I haven’t gotten around to seeing the MV though. Taeyong himself has such an incredible vocal texture let alone the song itself. I’ll definitely watch the MV. & thank you for his other song recommendations! I’ll check them out too~

Hi Atiny, I understand what you said about the money thing, when I heard about it I got a little worried too, but they told they wanted to make their easy to listen song for the first time and we also know they would never jump in the bragging territory cause they remind us a lot of humble and kindness so would be contradicting. So I noticed the song is far from embracing captalism is actually a satire and a criticism, they too are victims of the captalism monster, we know better than anyone else they can't rest, can't have family time, can't keep up with friends and social things cause they had to work a lot to make their money going against the current cause in their own country there were very few oportunities and they literally broke bones to do their best. So there is a video you should watch that explaim a lot of the symbolisms on the mv and how they relate to their story line and as a critique. Also in the new diary of the lore, you get to see how work and money relate to their storyline right now and is not something they saw as happiness, is more like a sad reality of the adult life and anyway is kind of sad. I'll link the video for you if you wanna see how their work may seem like ordinary money song for non fans but for atinys there are lots of easter eggs and is not even bragging, is more like statement over their achievments conquered with a lot of sacrifice.
I’d love to watch that explanation video! I’m a bit behind (& confused 😅) on the lore so I wasn’t able to mention anything about it & more-so stuck to the perspective of how I perceived the video & song by themselves, if that makes sense. Even without understanding much about the lore, it was clear when watching the MV that it wasn’t the stereotypical bragging song plus, like you said, they aren’t those type of people but my first knee-jerk reaction to the teaser wasn’t positive & I wanted to talk about how my opinion shifted once my understanding expanded.
