Adobe tip: create account, start a chat with support, say you'd like the All Apps Suite but it's too expensive. You'll get a 1yr discount and pay around $35 which is close to the price of just InDesign or Photoshop :)
Question, I have been referring back to your videos and I am looking to start a niche publication, I have a domain, an idea, the space it would fill, audience list, etc. The space is dominated by one major conglomerate, before going live, does it make sense to trademark my name?
Cool, great tips, thanks. One question, if we have paid Canva, do we still need to place credits for image we use, next to image or somewhere in the page, to mentioned it?
Hey there! No, you do not. If you have the Canva Pro Model, you have access to their stock photography library and do not need to credit the images in your magazine.
love to hear that it can happen. great video. my niche is professional paintball and magazines are a cherished item in our community. the nostalgia of picking up a paintball magazine at Walgreens is constantly romanticized and talked about. I’m curious if physical magazines are a piece of your revenue streams at all?
But how do you achieve getting advertisers if you’re just starting out? Love your vids btw, I am starting a Magazine Business and your vids have been a great help❤
I noticed you featured the author of Chatworthy magazine. It seems like she has a VLOG; totally awesome. I am just wondering... Do you have any additional student video testimonials?
How do most of your audience consume your PDF-style magazines? They work well on larger tablets, but on smartphones and laptops, the experience is not very user-friendly. Despite my appreciation for magazines and their layouts, I find the website more convenient and versatile. Or in your niche all the readers have iPads? 🤔These limitations have always stopped me from focusing on digital magazines.
My readers are split 50/50 mobile vs. desktop. The publishing platform I use does a great job on all devices and makes the magazine single page when on a phone and iPad and two pages when on desktop. I find it pretty easy to read and navigate on all devices.
Kate - Good job on the videos. I've watched several today and really enjoyed them - entertaining and informative. Quick question: I know you recommended Issuu and I've noticed that others have as well. Why, specifically, do you like them? Is this covered in one of your videos? Also, if someone is viewing a digital magazine on an iPad - smaller than a computer screen, larger than a phone - can you view single pages at one time, rather than a two-page spread? Just curious. Incidentally, I'm a longtime Kajabi user as well. Ken
Hi Ken! Great to hear that, thank you so much! Issuu is very user friendly and easy to navigate, whether you’re a beginner or super tech savvy. I’ve used them since the beginning- I talk briefly about it in my latest video. Yes, when viewing on an iPad, you can open up the full screen viewer and view single pages at a time!
@@minimagkate Hi again, Kate. Actually, one more question - if I'm just starting out on this venture, and doing a short 10 to 12 page digital mag to get used to the software, will the "starter" plan on Issue have enough bells and whistles? I'll want to embed not just links, but RU-vid videos, too. Hard to tell from their plan descriptions. Thanks a ton!
Hi Ken! Yes, absolutely! The Starter Plan has everything you need- you can add links, videos, GIFs. No need to spring for a more premium plan right away!
Thanks for sharing. I had given up on my dream of workinb on a magazines because they seemed to be a "dying" industry but your videos have ignited my passion. God bless you
I'm so glad that one of your videos came on my feed. I want to get better with graphic design, and the idea of creating a digital magazine came to mind. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏾💜.
Thank you so much for creating this video. I literally just researched on RU-vid "How to start an online Magazine" I searched last year and couldn't find much last year. This video really encouraged me so much. I always wanted to start a women empowerment magazine, writing is my love language. I'm a wedding coordinator and wedding content creator and blogger.
