Peter Graves acted in NUMEROUS films, yet the year he died, when the Oscar ceremony recapped all the industy people who passed away, he was NOT mentioned. That was an unfair oversight.
I like the picture of Barnaby Jones hanging in the colonel's office. He must be president in this universe. So much to love about these movies. Go from an imminent plane crash to showing up at the base gate, a bit ruffled up but hairstyle intact. A giant surgical scar. Shrug. Golly, must have got it in the crash. Oh, only ten minutes in. Back to the show!
If you are going to disect everything in these movies , then this genre is not for you ! My god dont take everything so serious ! Werner Von Braun, said it had a serious message! I thought so too ! No silly monsters or aliens! Very different entry & enjoyable !
I actually saw this film. It was shown during the Cinematic Titanic Final Tour in 2013. It was essentially a music video narrated by Trace, I think, with Frank playing a Frankenstein's monster rip off (the role he was born to play!). I don't remember much of the specifics, but the ending was like a dance party with kids dancing with Frank to some cheesey song with lyrics that went: "Do the Frank!" "What's up? What's up?" "Do the Frank!" "What's up? What's up?" Something like that. It was a really dumb fun video. I'm bummed it still hasn't been uploaded anywhere.
I've seen worse films that were newer. Even more weirdly some of the science is actually correct. Certainly not one of my favorite but better than I thought it would be.
It's like a lot of Talking Heads music. Should never work but it does. Even more goofy in parts than the dumbest "modern" film but feel zero insult or exasperation because they really go for it with what they had at the time vs. today's laziness or sheer lack of talent. Love Peter Graves shrugging off a scar that to me (as an EMT) suggested major organ transplants!
