I seriously can't get enough of this song, I listened to it 9 times on the trot before leaving for work this morning and still craving for more, I've never been so mentally hungry in a long time. I'm gonna devour all the releases from No Fashion Records!
Bret Hoffman's best vocal performance on a Malevolent Creation song off of their best album. The way he enunciates and slurs several words in a split second time frame in several parts of the song (especially during the "We are all participants of this malevolent creation!!!!!!!!!!!!" line) has never ceased to amaze me and stood out quickly as a very distinct standout quality when I first heard this album and this song. I like his style on this album the best. He became too guttural and slowed down the speed of his enunciations on Retribution and Stillborn in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with guttural vocals of course, but the raspy and thrashy high speed enunciations of Bret Hoffman on the Ten Commandments album are what made the vocal performance so unique and cutting edge at the time and still to this day
I love that line haha. The band was clearly inspired by the chorus of Slayer's "Hell Awaits" when Tom says a bunch of fast words as the guitars tremolo pick open notes with no other instruments playing. Likewise Bret Hoffman says those lines as the guitars pick open notes with no other instruments playing. Malevolent Creation just made it ten times better and took it up several notches in extremity
