My pal had two 15" Sony explodes in he's Renult 19 16v on a nice mono block amp about 20 years ago i think they was a 1000w each , omg this motor absolutely rocked the low notes it took your breath away you couldn't breath 😅it set car alarms of up the road, it was very loud hit them lows hard and never give up
I would love to see the new r2 series of alpine amps, they show s series amp guys but never the r2 series, I’m still trying to decide btwn s series 1200 watts rms mono amp and the r2 series 1500 watts rms one, I really prefer replaceable to-220 mosfet, rather than surface mount mosfets, cause they are better cooled and easily replaceable or repaired, these surface mounts are harder to repair and like in these models are cooled through thermal pads to the heatsink that’s not very efficient hence they run hotter less reliable
All the good brands seem to have gone this way. They were started by Idealists that had something to prove and as engineers they built equipment they could be proud of and eventually their companies became known for their build quality and reliability. Those idealists get old, bored, or just ready to do something else and they sell the company to capitalists who ride the name of that brand into the dirt with low quality products at high prices and the consumer gets screwed. Orion, Sound Stream, High Phonics, Dennon, Zapco are the ones that pop into mind as I type this, but there are way more. Even middle of the road brands have had the same thing happen to them, Pheonix Gold, Sundown, Lanzar, JBL, even Eclipse is now selling old tech crappy low quality amps. I know they are not efficient, but I still love my Orion amps from the 90's. I have an HCCA 2100, an HCCA 150, and a couple of the cobalt line. On that note, even Orion's Cobalt line of amps were beasts back then. As a teenager, I ran my Cobalt 230 bridged to two dual voice coil 12" subs ruthlessly, (1 ohm mono?) On the hottest days of the summer it would go into protect if I was really ripping it, but that cheap little amp was good for 138Db and I cleaned up in the low power classes every event I took my truck to.
I have the same amplifier but the 8000W one its showing -4vdc on speaker out what to do ? My amplifier is keeps on flashing protect without anything connected besides from power supply ? I tried to read the H1 A2 labeled output transistor and it shows an open reading should I only replace the transistor or what else help ?
I just wanna say your videos inspired me to fix an old peavey 400w amp. Its not always about saving money or keeping old equipment thriving, its almost like a puzzle, a challenge. Im an auto mechanic who specializes in wiring and electronic diag, and man i learn things here and there from you that i can apply to cars. There's nothing like a chill dude who loves doing what he's passionate about.
My Fusion Powerplant is frying the input mosfets on startup almost instantly starting from one side. It fried all 8 mosfets years ago. I replaced them all recently and it wants to keep doing it. I have a lot of the resistors and transistors to replace just because but this is making me wonder if the transformer on that side is shorting out. I wish you were local because this amp has a lot of sentimental value to me. Maybe if I'm lucky it's a gate resistor or one of the PNP's.
I have an amp repair question, my friend said he blew his amp from wiring the speaker wire from the head unit into the amp output. He got confused wiring the hi level input. It's a cheap amp(audiozerone 1000.1) is it worth fixing? Would it be an easy diy?
Hey could you review his video about the Deaf Bonce Sport Amps to see how good the Korean boards are in these Chinese made amps? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62TWB_oUnBU.htmlsi=2M1OWqs0gTol_113
I'm starting to wish I had stayed at home. It's a long story but basically I was trying to get to two parties and to see some friends. I got to the bar and they had already gone to the house. Everything was cool but my car had broken down (camshaft position sensor and or carb throttle potentiometer position, after checking with the diag computer). I was originally supposed to be doing the party, sound and lights plus dj relations however the party was cancelled for a hifi dj selecta sty;e party due to noise restrictions. I knew the owner of the chalet and the client. I tried to explain my situation as it was a 2 hour walk home on dark mountain paths and was hoping to crash on a couch and hitch back in the morning. Anyway I was more or less turfed out at 4:45am and managed to get home in limp mode with around 1500rpm max (going up some steep hills in1st gear) I couldn't believe I made it as I thought I was facing a 2hr + walk. But. What I couldn't believe more than that was peoples ability to turn a friend off of the couch which I hadn't even started to crash on yet. Blankers!
I wouldn't feel bad charging a premium price for a premium service, you need to eat as well, if people have an issue with your rates, they can go buy a new unit,🤷
for google to find you, you should have the names of every amp on the market, this way every time someone has a problem with their amp and do a search for that make of amp, you will show up.
The problem with your site is that you don't have enough descriptors for google to find you. I've been watching repair videos for years and just recently found your webnars. They are fantastic, I wish I had found you sooner. Im from USA.
I know this is an old video but I decided to try to contact you here through this one out of just not knowing where else to turn I do have a Taramps Big Boss 3 with this problem but that's not necessarily my concern considering how cheap they are to purchase but I have stumbled across some strange acoustic properties in building a box for the subwoofers that this amplifier is powering it's a ported enclosure for 2:15-in subwoofers but when you run a sweep it plays flat from a low pass all the way to subsonic with no EQ rather unusual but when I go back and review the building choices I made are lending itself to this flat response this box plays very loud but because the response is flat the harmonics with the cabin gain are so uniform it's unreal... The box is tuned to 32 Hertz and like I said if you run a sweep from 25 to 70 hz it'll be flat all the way to your subsonic I tried to invert the subs in the same enclosure with results that were ridiculous the tuning changed so dramatically it peaked at 29 hz rolled off sharp above but extended way down into the teens... This is an exceptionally unique box and I know you like acoustics.
@@davidvarner8793 I'm starting to understand this, and it's quite hard to read without punctuation. Sounds like you have something weird going on there though. Perhaps the subs weren't sealed against the wood and when you flip them you made the seal. I don't know, doesn't sound right.
@@barevids The design of the box is rather unique it's on a solid platform every wall is single walled except for the baffle the interior port wall The enclosure is 24 and 1/4 in tall up firing up ports independent chamber independent ports when you drop the subwoofer in this box you get great extension because of the distance from the loading wall but when you invert it it's like hollering down a railway tunnel... The box sounds amazing and the design features lend to a very high SPL it directs pressure to and through the port...
Okay after a little bit more time and testing because this box has independent chambers, I inverted one subwoofer and regular mounted the other. I achieved the results that I would have got with each orientation coming from a single box. Which was a bandwidth that is the sum of the two orientations. It goes from the low pass filter to subsonic with an extremely shallow slope to the upper teens. It is about acoustics and pressure distribution. It is actually quite technical but I know you can understand.
I think you should revamp the series with no community interaction and use a model of your actual personal vehicle (approximately). Then build a real world one at the end. Probably would solve the headache of emails, would let you use your own creative direction at all times, and the virality of the videos may be better particularly the finale where you do the same testing at full scale. I still love this series. I came back to this video because I'm modeling out something similar for fun right now, might build one
Hello, I see that you have experience with alpine powers. I have a pdx v9 that a channel fails and goes into protection just by touching the channel one input with your hand have you had this problem can you guide me I'm from Argentina we don't have much information thank you very much in advance
@@sergiomazzini1322 hello, this isn't a common fault or issue that I could easily tell you to do this do that and it would be fixed. The amplifier will need to be inspected and diagnosed professionally with an oscilloscope etc.
