Lol. All great comments even tho its many years old. Its now August of 2021 and it seems most of us have stocked enough ammo (around 5,000 rounds) of just about everything. But lately around America? Walmart has plenty of Winchester Shot gun shells. Yes its 3 boxes per person. But #2, #4 2 1/2 are in abundance. And just lying in a normal king size bed in a normal bedroom? Or in a normal house? 10-15 or 20 feet even a 2 level home? The intruder is going down. I'm using the IWI TS12. 15 rounds of whatever. Keep shooting and turning the barrel. Like they say; 'Intruders walk in and get carried out" Case Closed! 😎
birdshot is good to 12 feet/4yds. after that its mass is to spread out and it exponentially looses energy. if you have a full choke its good to 15ft/5yrds . bird shot is deadly until the mass clump of pellets spreads out
Great video sir!!! Just brought a lynx 12 gauge..gotta 20 round drum. I got some federal 3 inch, 1500 velocity 1 1 1/4 2 shot. Should be good enough for stop someone.
I have told people that are trying to find buckshot that #8 shot will work great with a full choke. I have a Rem 870 20 guage with an IC, MOD, and Full Choke options for slugs to #8 shot.
03:09 You ground the fuller out of that blade! I really wanted to say fu#$ instead of fuller but funny enough the fuller (that was never there) is gone. That or it's full fuller ground instead of hollow rofl.
Here is a lesson for you people from African hunters: ALWAYS BRING ENOUGH GUN! Birdshot is not reliable in the penetration department. Do yourself a favor and use Number 4 Buck. You have NO excuse in using birdshot as the speed and weight of the shot SUCKS. That is physics. Your pattern difference can be adjusted with a choke tube and your pattern difference between bird shot and buck at short range is insignificant anyway. I have watched birds get shot with birdshot and survive. Period. P
I hear ALOT of shit about birdshot. Quite frankly I've never been shot with bird or buckshot. Honestly at ten feet I would rather not have the boldness to care to be shot with either. If anyone thinks an oz+ of lead at 1100-1350 ft is tolerable they are foolish beyond compare! Wether it's buck or bird!
You notice that everyone uses 7 1/2 or number eight shot, when there are plenty of other sizes like six five four even 2 for a buck or two more, just saying. I wish somebody test these things. I use number five on our farm for close-up work varmints of all kinds good to about 20 yards I found the eight and seven they are pretty small for 20 yards. And will wound larger varmints.
I seriously just had a guy tell me that my Carhartt jacket would stop birdshot. I've watched a ton of videos on the subject. I have yet to see a single naysayer back up their claims with tests. All the tests I've seen have convincingly proved that birdshot is lethal inside around seven yards.
Birdshot is most definitely fatal at close range. The goal is not fatality, it’s incapacitation. There are two was to accomplish this, one a shot to the central nervous system (head and spine) and two massive amounts of blood loss. Guess what a bunch of little pellets don’t do, create blood loss or penetrate enough to hit the central nervous system. I have been a police officer for 23 years and did 10 years at homicide. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen people fatally wounded still be able to fight and return fire. It’s all about creating the best situation to survive a gunfight in all conditions.
Most people forget three things 1 most fire fights take place within 10-7 feet 2 birdshot will put a hole through 1/2 inch plywood at 5-7 feet 3 nobody likes being shot
At the time, best 2hp 72" machine i could afford. There are a lot better, a LOT, but i am still grindingvon that Pheer all these years later......so it was worth every penny.
Warning signs, Locks, a Dog, Center Mass, #4 Buck with 21 pellets, Mossberg 88 7+1 rounds = 100% dead Home Invader who "had" bad intentions. If youre buying a weapon for Home Defense to mame lnvaders with Birdshot...maybe you should rethink about owning a weapon in the first place.
People who think bird shot isnt tought lettme shoot you with in a educational video since it wont hurt. Thats why people say shotgun is best for "home defense"any gun is good for home dfense but bird shot wont over penetrate n hurt your innocent neighbors it will just kill the intruders
