We are an Aussie couple that explore the back roads on the "Ox" our Super Tenere or cruise the highways on "Suzie bike " the Suzuki GSX1400.
Having ridden two up for the last 20 or so years, we purchased The Ox with our cancelled European holiday money ( thanks Covid Pandemic )😷 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Inspired by Itchy Boots and other Moto Adventurers we filmed our first trip to Broken Hill on a GoPro Hero 3 that we bought on marketplace a week before we left 🤪🤪🤪 learning as we went
On that trip in Mildura the RU-vid name of Two Up Travels was born over a few bottles of the regions finest 🍷🍷
Upon arriving home with no editing experience at all … we started on our RU-vid journey and adopted our Channel’s motto that it is ever evolving just like us…
So join us from our very inexperienced filmology beginnings to now where with every journey and every video we learn something new
@@twouptravels2022 As I have said before ours is only 411cc, and I am a slow rider on a 75mph max bike, although I only sit on 90-95km. I was tempted to get another Diversion 900, but thought better of it, and realised we could still tour on a smaller bike. We have a 400km range too, which is the main reason I went for a smaller bike - economy.
Lovely ride, I haven't been out there since I was out there on my treddly, with my dog in his dog trailer, in 2017, took me 3 weeks to get from the New England to Tib, and the whole place was in drought, I did have issues getting water the whole way there.
Plenty of water out there in June. The road hadn’t been open long due to the amount of rain beforehand. We were lucky to sneak through before it hammered done again a few days later.
Good vid as usual, unlikely we will ever get out there unless we were with someone else as well. We don't go remote much anymore. What was the reason to send your camping gear back? Also I would like to ask your husband a question what he thinks about doing a trip to tassie from the QLD/NSW border, by 2023 mod 411cc Himalayan 2up, and yes camping will be involved, is it madness, and if so, should I take my mates 2023 mod, Tiger 850, or even his 650 Interceptor, he has offered either one for the trip, he thinks it will be pushing my himi too much. We have done about 3000k's on the 411 2up, and it handles it okay. We sit on 90kmphr 2up, and on my own about 95, not into speed anymore. The himalayan is well known as a tractor, so has got the low down torque for pulling power, just no top end speed, which suits me fine.
We sent the camping gear home because we weren’t planning to use it until a couple of weeks later as we’d booked accommodation and… this is the primary reason.. the weight up high on the bike meant it was very hard to balance doing slow manoeuvres..as we discovered in the soft sand. Seeing as though we were planning to ride more sandy trails we decided to post it home.. we often do that on longer trips.. if we find we don’t use something.. we often mail stuff home rather than carry it on the bike for no reason. As for the question re the bike and camping.. do a couple of overnight trips first and you’ll soon find out if you’re good to go or need to rethink your plans. Enjoy the process 🙂
@@twouptravels2022 We have done some 2up camps in the new England and over to Coonabarabran, Warrumbungles, mostly on dirt over and back, and their was no problems. The bike handled it quite well. It is a small single engine, so it doesn't feel pushed, and the other couple of reasons I would prefer my himi on the trip, is 2up loaded getting 400km to the 15lts tank economy, and 2ndly I would be responsible for someone else"s bike, and that is worrying in itself.
Haha this is all too familiar! We've ridden our Super Tenere two-up 24,000km around Central and North America. We've agreed on no more sand! She loves gravel roads though!
up THE XT1200Z sick bikes very much undervalued. Ill rather save the extra cash and have a little less hp and torque then the others. Im no slim jim and this bike is very comfortable on 3 hour rides
I avoid sand also, heavy bike and sand is also a problem. My himalayan, is small but 240kg loaded so just as heavy as your bike almost, so sand riding is not our thing. Lucky hubby didn't break his ankle. Hopefully like us you carry an epirb
@@twouptravels2022 Yeah agree with you about high up weight. I will have relearn to ride with my new to me Malle panniers and Mosko mounts, as it pushes the panniers up higher. I needed it that way though as I would have had to change the muffler, to a smaller more noisey one and I didn't want to do that.
Wow, you guys don't mind doing the long trips. You do well to carry all your stuff plus camping gear for 2 people. How many kms has the Ox done now, the wife and I ride on a super tenere as well but it's the later ES model with cruise.
We love a looong trip, this is double what we normally can wrangle time wise. The Ox is only up to 38k..,it had 7 when we got it 2 yrs ago. It’s been a full on 30k though 🙂
So 1200cc bike, puts our 411cc 2up bike to shame, but I like to do it the slow and hard way, always have, haha. I don't know why you haven't got more subs,. youtube, do push your vids. I would have thought others doing 2up with their wives like us would chomping at the bit to see vids like this. I am, glad I found your vlogs, good info can be had here.
We use a combination of paper maps and Google maps for the rough outline.. then use the Garmin apps for details. This trip I picked out a couple of gpx files from the adventure riders website to mix it up getting away from Brisbane.
@twouptravels2022 G'day.. Thanks for that, I will try that combination, it works for you.. I think my triumph scrambler xc 1200 could handle some of the plces you pair go, it would be the rider that has the limitations. I'm using Australian motorcycle atlas, trying to do their top 200 rides.. thank you take care..
Yep white swamp, paddy’s, rocky river great loop one of my fav, just wanted to say watched a lot and I mean a lot of adv vids and have to say enjoying your channel , Great job
@@twouptravels2022 absolutely awesome I can’t wait to get out and do all these different destinations with my wife we are just deciding what bike to buy
Nice tour! More realistic than some; something to do with the lens you use I guess - not such wide angle - more like the human eye view, I guess. I'm curious about your bike, a peaceful sound! Thanks for taking us along.
Loved the trip. I have only just started experiencing the beauty of this area, and it is extraordinarily beautiful. Up that way again soon to explore more.
Another good one, you blokes sure love our side of the border. 2 years ago the wife bought me a go pro, and a Sony camera to makes video's, to be honest I wasn't into it. Both camera's have never been opened. But I do like watching other's vid's.
I really like your rides, but my wife and I do all our two ups on a 411cc. We are quite happy motoring along between 90-100km, maybe depending on the hills down to 85. My last bike a 900 Diversion, was just too quick. So we cruise along now usually at 95km, although it will happily go faster. What I do like to see is your husband riding in the middle of the lane, where I ride, not on the center line or near to center Too many older and younger riders still ride the center line.. Much safer to do what he and I do.
Companion Pro Hiker 2 person tent, the same one I use, with my dog, either bicycletouring, and on the m.bike, He is a bit skitish on the motorbike though.
Your husband just putting his fingers up to wave to the other bikes, is what I will be doing from here on, after last weekend. I had a 45 minute ride home from town, on the weekend, and saw a policeman I know on his cop bike, so put my left hand up to wave. He turned around and put his lights on and pulled me up for it. He knew it was me as I have the only Himalayan in the district, just gave me a warning for it. He said it goes under Unsafe Riding here in NSW. Then we had a chat, it started to rain and we split. Wont be doing that again.
I really enjoyed your trip. I recently did a trip up to Tenterfield from Newcastle after watching your videos. I hope to take my wife along next time. Looking forward to your future journeys. Cheers 😀
Thanks for the support. We love travelling a different way to and from the Hunter Valley from Brisbane. So many different variations, the only limit is time!
very nice country side you guys have been through an nice videos as you are showing me what the places look like now after 6 years away from that part of the world cheers
