Besides the reasons explored in the video, homelessness is becoming a bigger issue in the SA, especially in and around downtown areas. I believe this is indicative of emerging housing and cost of living issues in the city.
Correct on allergies, horrible drivers, lack of alternative transportation, 8 mos of miserable weather, outrageous property taxes. Texas was designed for cattle runs, not humans wearing cowboy hats with NO cattle.
No they don't take the dogs to shelters. In spring branch and canyon lake alone there's 22 dogs a week abandoned or running loose now. This has happened since all the new people moved here.
The San Antonio heat is nothing compared to Houston and Corpus Christi heat with humidity is worse. I don’t have any issues with the heat in San Antonio is dry heat.
Also not many jobs I mean non back breaking labor. All the medical and office jobs are in north side very competitive. Reason why the East, west and south are the poorest areas
San Antonio used to be more livable. There’s endless waves of illegals being processed filling the hospitals and wandering aimlessly. Last year I was plowed into on my motorcycle waiting for the light to change, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene pdq. If you value your life stay away from SA?
My teenager is autistic and her developmental age is much younger. It's VERY difficult to find affordable activities for her. She is not high functioning to do what some of the activities are designed for. Also, once you do the Doseum and other places like that, you've done them. It's not something you would go back to ten times like swimming. She has outgrown park equipment. Theme parks are too expensive. We've already been to Morgan's several times. I wish there was more to do that is fitting for her.
Heat is the #2 reason why I dream of and probably will eventually move back to the midwest. The midwest gets hot but it's not an impossible hot like it is here in SA. For two months straight you can't even sit outside without risking heat injury. The car AC doesn't cut it at all. It's like it's not even turned on. When the sun goes down the mosquitos immediately attack and they're thick as a blanket. I have never successfully grown a full garden because even with a screen shade it's still too damn hot. It never thrives.
The whole 'people love animals and will drop them off at the shelter' is not exactly true. The only statistic out there found via google is there is on any given day over 35,000 strays. Houston is worse with over one million. ALL of the shelters are full. You 'might' be able to give a stray to ACS but they are very often put down after the stray hold is over. I think I saw where the city is offering 'more' locations for affordable spay and neuter but it won't help much if the culture doesn't change. Too many people don't give a damn that their pets are not fixed and they let them roam. This leads to a perpetual out of control stray population. Likewise, inflation is so bad that people can barely feed themselves let alone feed their pets and pay pet fees at apartments. Some people would rather dump than give their pet to ACS where the chances of the owner surrendered pet down immediately are high.
I’ve lived in San Antonio since 1988. It’s hot here of course, much like the rest of Texas, but overall it’s a nice place to live. Traffic here is average for a large city in my opinion. Never had a problem with unlicensed drivers. The traffic is much better here than some places - Houston in particular. They drive so fast in Houston and tail gate way too much.
if there so much you do not like fo San Antonio go back to California or that shit hole you came from you're not from San Antonio you don't have a right There's nobody going to miss you
My understanding is San Antonio is a sanctuary city. So there’s lots of illegals there that don’t respect the law. They contribute to the high number of DUIs, driving without a license and no insurance. And if you ever get into a wreck there’s a high probability that the driver will run away or was drunk.
Allergies is why I can’t ever live there. The theater made me want to scratch my eyeballs out. And there was nothing over-the-counter or orally that I could take that helped.
To the gentleman in the blue shirt, please go get a skin cancer check. I believe I see some areas on your skin that are concerning coming from someone who’s had it herself and has a family history of it. It’s not some thing that you wanna play around with and please start wearing sunscreen, especially on top of your head my grandfather was bald. He almost died from skin cancer on the top of his head.
Nobody likes a crybaby, move back to wherever you came from. No matter where you live, there are things you will get used to and things you won't. I don't know what they are putting in Flintstone vitamins anymore, but it sure is creating a lot of wussies.
If you can’t take the weather stay out of Texas period. I am a native Texan who has lived all over the world and Texas is the most brutal place overall to live.
