3D modelling, architecture and history are my passion. On this channel I want to present short animations showing how buildings changed throughout history, how the landmarks we know now developed.
When our gallant Norman foes Made our merry land their own, And the Saxons from the Conqueror were flying, At his bidding it arose, In its panoply of stone, A sentinel unliving and undying. Insensible, I trow, As a sentinel should be, Though a queen to save her head should come a-suing, There's a legend on its brow That is eloquent to me, And it tells of duty done and duty doing.
XI wieku i NIE BYŁ ON KATEDRĄ WAWELSKĄ. W literaturze przewija się ten błąd a jest on dość poważny.
Oh wow! I liked the way of how the towers emerged from the ground, later the walls deconstructed and rebuilt. I always wonder, how on earth did they had the perseverance to build it. Just imagine, that a farmer went out to give food to his herd of calves, later on the field turned into a wall or a fortification, which was deconstructed, rebuilt, deconstructed and so on. This literarly blows my mind. I remember that I even had the chance of visiting the tower in 2015. I was like 14 years old at that time. I was amazed by the architecture back then.
ur missing the cage w the 7 ravens, it’s an old super natural thing that if there was ever less than 7 ravens the entire castle would collapse and they still have the ravens to this day.
Without the Norman invasion, one should wonder how and when would the english folk adopt the construction of castles, and what style they would use (I'm mostly siding with the idea they would copy the architectural style from Denmark and Norway).
Historical and modern day fact: The worst thing to ever have happened to England/Britain was the invasion by the Normans. Before the invasion people owned their own land and could read. After the invasion, land was confiscated and everyone became serfs/slaves and the masses were prohibited from reading. Everything became under the control of the French ("Norman") king and his "aristocracy" of Normans. This is pretty similar today. The masses still haven't got their land back, and the aristocracy (now mixed with a few Germans and others) still control education and all the organs of power. The masses are now modern day serfs, extremely rarely breaking into the ranks of the Establishment. Even the "upper class" accent (the classic marker of an apartheid system) is basically a French accent mixed with some German. Dialects and accents of all the British regions ie former kingdoms or realms rarely if ever occupy influential positions. Tragically this is rarely if ever written about and most people accept their slavery.
Honestly, I'd love to know more about what we know of Roman London. Like, I recall the story of there being a big basilica of black marble where the tower of London is now.
Thank you so much for this. Getting to see what London and the surrounding area was like throughout the ages is fascinating and I think there should be a kind of VR set to view what places really looked like at given points in history as it is so hard to fully appreciate when all you see are modern buildings. To see what someone in 1066/1250/1600 would see is real history.
I'm pretty sure, although correct me if I'm wrong, there were no contrails in the sky in the 16th century on account of the lack of jetdriven airplanes. 10:28
I myself have been to the Tower of London, twice. I loved it, one of the most magnificent castles I've ever seen. I was once caught filming and was told to stop and seeing as it was forbidden to film inside the keep, I never released that footage to the public, but then I was given a private individual tour of the keep, including Saint John's chapel.
I love videos like these! Do you specialize in english history or do you make videos about whatever interests you? Because in that cause I would LOVE to see videos about the construction and expansion of cities like Rome, Constantinople/Istanbul, New York, Himeji Castle and other great fortresses/cities :-)
Thank you! I pretty much do whatever interests me, but it needs to be on a manageable scale - reconstructing a whole city for example would take too long and my pc would not handle the model sizes. I especially like castles as they tend to evolve quite a lot through ages.
Worth noting Edward III started his works on the Tower in 1342, living in the Garden tower which is now the Bloody tower, and he moved Parliament there from Westminster.
