I like this guy! Hi ya Nick. Thanks for the review I just bought one from a store who's motto is "The Store that ate your Brain" so I had to get it. Can't wait to try it out on Country & Western which is what my band here in Las Vegas does. Best to you bro. Tod :)
@@nickpharvey yeah! it started with me watching a bmartinsounds video tutorial, then i saw your daily warm ups video on the side bar and clicked it cause why not. i watched for 30 seconds then you prefaced it saying its for intermediates so it didn’t apply to me lol. i still felt like snooping around your channel so i watched a video or two before i stumbled upon this beauty
@@okaydiesel o that’s so cool!! Glad I decided to make that video, I’ll try some more! And I appreciate the kind words! I’m halfway through recording my next instrumental album to come later this year, maybe I’ll try to get another song like this going! (Or in the next one haha)
I love your point about being positive about warm ups leading to creativity rather than being too strict on yourself. I found that you will always pick your guitar up more when you let yourself genuinely have fun with it
amen! I'm glad that resonated. I used to beat myself up for getting off track when practicing, and then I realized 'hey youre playing & having fun, aint that the point?!' Since ive embraced it, I've actually written a ton of stuff thats ended up in songs too!
I totally get that people want to wear their stuff out themselves, but it would take decades for an instrument to get road worn from use, wouldn't it? If it feels great and you like the look, who cares? I don't have enough time left in my life to wear an instrument to that level. I'd get it if it felt and sounded right.
Sounds like you’re more concerned about looks than you are sound and playability. Spend a few less hours looking at yourself in a mirror and a little more time learning how to shred the damn thing youngster!
heh the playing demo towards the end didnt do it for ya? lots of talking up front, but its also an unboxing vid, not a playing demo? feel free to make your own!
Hey there - tapped ‘unboxing’ into the RU-vid search to see if anyone ‘unboxed’ the mustang and found the rumoured extra black pickguard. Been mulling over ordering one of these bad boys for ages but what to go for, black or blue finish? Now if there was a black pick guard in there too that might just be the clincher. Well that’s what brought me to your vid. Rubbish ‘unboxing’ Great review! Good job lad 👍 So did you get an extra [black] pickguard in the box? 😂
Really cool video, I like your vibe. You will get used to the thumbrest, my first bass was a Fender Musicmaster and it comes in handy. Awesome bass, I want one so bad!
enjoyed your video - thanks for putting it out there - but I gotta say I think that's the only 12min+ demo/impression video I've seen where the playing doesn't start until 8:47 🙂
thank you my dude! Been trying out a few different set ups. I have a SM7B i used on the Kinks cover I have up - but then this one is actually just straight iphone vid/audio all the way. ha!
@nickpharvey For real? Wild. It sounds way better than when I've done that in the past, but it also seems like you've got a lot more soft stuff in your room for noise cancellation.
@@nickpharveyI've got a scarlet solo audio interface that I run a line in from my ukulele or my banjo. For the guitar, I don't have a pickup so I just use a single condenser mic (cheap but pretty good, bought on Amazon). Sometimes I'd do an SM50 for the vocals. Man the world of recording for RU-vid is such a rabbithole.
nice! That sounds rad! I have an apollo interface, been trying a condensor and recording both vocals/guitar at once. But then iphone sounded kinda good? haha idk, gonna keep experimenting
The bass sounds amazing, and short scales basses are dope. Both the Beatles and the Stones recorded their classic albums with short scale basses, so why would anyone disparage short scales??
I've just bought a Classic Vibe Mustang Short-scale Bass, and put Gotoh Vintage string tuners and La Bella Flatwound strings. I'm really enjoying it. And, then i went into my fave guitar shop, and lo and behold, there was a JMJ Mustang Short-scale Bass hanging on the shop wall. I'm getting it! Mustang City! ❤❤😂😊
I came upon Wasted On You recently and was looking to learn the song's name! Went down a rabbit hole and this blessing of a cover came up, your voice could get you a record deal.
