A very fun series indeed, Black Echo is my favourite too. The Face was always planned to return - in fact him (and I think Louise too) were revealed to have been frozen until 1966 in the original pilot episode. Hadn't come across your channel until now, but have subscribed and look forward to checking out other episodes!

As good as any comedy of any era, marvellously written and acted, the timing is impeccable. If you don’t find it funny then you don’t have a sense of humour, I think Simon must be an alter ego of Delaney, he sounds like him?

"Many, MANY times." 😂 My pandemic activity was taking a tour of American radio shows, and this year it's led to a lot of Hancock, Navy Lark, Beyond Our Ken, Round the Horne, Men from the Ministry, etc. My gosh, Kenneth Williams was a popular dude. What I'm dying to find are more Band Waggons, which seem to be rare. Arthur Askey is now my absolute fav. Great podcast, kids!

Count Arthur is comedy marmite, I know. I love it, the radio show especially. I've never thought of him as being senile, and though he might be showing some of the typical symptoms, I don't think he is actually senile at all. I get the impression that he's always been like this, and Delaney playing him as an older gentleman makes it funnier because his frame of reference is the era that many listeners can relate to, not because he's ill.

Only just randomly come across you guys. Massive fan of Round the Horn which I missed first time round. If you fancy something a bit different try some of the 50's American private eye radio shows. Johnny Diamond is a good one to start with.

Thank you! We're mainly focused on British archive material as that was how we became mates in the first place. However, this has definite possibilities! We have just recorded an episode on Mark Saber from the 50s for our archive TV podcast, The ExtonMoss Experiment, and we were wildly enthused! We have come to the conclusion that the 1950s archives need to be explored further so we'll definitely consider your suggestion.

Are these taking the pi$$?!!! Is that Steve Delaney in another guise? The not funny doctor? No way is Arthur mocking dementia or sufferers He's a finessed blend of various characters and lots of observations of life in the 60s and 70s.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a load of miserable sanctimonious virtue signalling drivel as this review. Right from the start it was appalling. The ‘I recommended this but I can’t remember why,’ set the tone. What a brilliant and professional beginning. Then you mentioned you could not get through many episodes of Count Arthur, well I lasted three and a half minutes of this. Then I fast forwarded a few times to see if it improved, it didn’t. Why people with no apparent sense of humour want to review a comedy show is a puzzle. You’ve managed a hundred and seventy views, goodness only knows how. I think you called Steve Deleney’s show ‘shit’ at one point. Well you boys need to take a look in the mirror. Keep telling your friend’s at dinner parties about your RU-vid channel , and massaging each others egos but if i were you I’d stick to your day jobs.

I heartily laugh at some of this work, the rest I find mildly funny. Humour is different to different people. These sketches might be ripping at dementia sufferers, but that’s life. My mother died after a very long struggle with dementia. The early days of her illness were similar to this, and I can look back at that period of her life with both sadness and pleasure at being there for her and still enjoy these performances.

OMG wonderful program! Thank you so much. I'm an anglophilic American who was given the gift of RTH by the algods. I agree, they survive a back to back listen in ways that even the Goons don't. One minor point, I would argue that Julian and Sandy exposed and familiarized many with Polari, but J&S' place today is not to be dismissed. Now that popular usage has waned almost to extinction, J&S provide an immense value in glimpsing Polari's usage and context while it was still needed. Arguably the usage on a radio program with a listenership of 15M brought it out of the closet!

Vaccines offer immunity & contain attenuated virus, mislabeled experimental injections do not. Deception through slight of hand, but you still insist on using their deceptive terminology? There were no 'vaccines', no ;vaccine mandates, only medical experimentation, & experimentation mandates for lab rats.

I was 9 and was scared but still knew it wasn't real. I was more scared that I would have nightmares because it was just beforehand bedtime. Like other people commented, I'm suprised so many people got so upset about it and phoned the BBC and complained etc. It all looks like bad acting now but at the time I might have been caught up in the beginning of it and suspended my disbelieve but by the end when the studio lights were blowing up and the little girl had a demonic voice and cats were shrieking out of the cupboard under the stairs it was so ridiculous 😂 Still both scared by it and loved it though 🙂 Can't be arsed to listen to this podcast because most podcasts go on about how shocking it was and make more out of it than it was and say nothing new. Might listening to it later actually 😂

I am listening to this after all and enjoying it😂 I agree the psychiatrist woman was very acty. And she was a poor actress. Parkinson was convincing. Like one of you said, I think they should have ended it just a little sooner with a test card and saying technical issues or something. And like the other guy said, have the sound of the psychiatrist woman going "round and round the garden like a teddy bear" would have been funny 😂
