Test current for keep the load stable at particular Vz, and that current must pass then only your zener act as proper Vz. Max current current @5.1v zener around 60-70 mA for 0.5w zener, @1w 5.1v zener around 120 mA safely.
@7:08 Your explanation is wrong 49mA for attain particular Vz Or you will get must pass 49mA through the zener then only you will get particular Vz, max current Pz/Iz you can use below the max current only, ex 0.5w zener you can use 0.47w @5v1 zener upto 60 mA run the load safely without damage, if you need more current choose 1w zener @5v1 you can use 100mA safely.
