My name is Doris Green, I am an ethnomusicologist, creator of Greenotation the system for writing music of African percussion instruments aligning it with the dance movements in a single integrated score. It says that an error occurred and my comments did go through. I am hoping that this comment reaches you. Please let me hear from you. Thank you. Doris Green
Hey Doris welcome to the Channel, and it’s very exciting having you here, and yes! We received your comment. Would you have any favourite African percussion instruments and have you written any music piece on them yet?
Thanks. Here as well. I love you have the clear understanding of time signatures. I play guitar but will bring my knowledge into my drum. God bless you. Ill be spending time on your channel.
I enjoyed watching your video. I have played this rhythm many times in samba bands and I have also heard it in Ewe music from Ghana, and now I know the name of it! I noticed that the rhythm you play right at the start of the video is slightly different to the one you teach us to play!
Thanks for the feedback, and yes you are right. The rhythm is slightly different but the structure/backbone is the same one taught in the video. Plus you could make different variations by skipping a count or playing double on the other. It’s actually fun if you have multiple people playing together. Thanks for dropping by
