This is one of the most entertaining matches I’ve seen in a long while. I recommend watching the full 90 minutes. You won’t be disappointed. GDR were robbed, but Yugoslavia won’t have cared as they secured an invaliable away win in what proved to be such a tight qualifying group.

Was für ein Team hätte es noch eine Dekade lang sein können. Sammer, Effenberg, Doll, Kirsten, Basler kamen noch hinzu. Der Kern des 90er Teams blieb noch knappe 5 Jahre, Häßler und Möller zB blüten erst nach der WM auf … aber bis auf Sammer konnte/wollte sich kein dieser Spieler großartig hervortun.
Theoretisch war das 92er Team nochmals stärker als das 90er. Vielleicht der ein oder andere schon über seinem Peak hinaus. Aber im wesentlichen ist die Hauptmannschaft zusammengeblieben und es sind noch Topleute wie Sammer, Doll und Effenberg dazugekommen.Leider Matthäus verletzt nicht bei der EM. Für mich damals ein mittleres Drama.

Germany was top over all from 80 toll 96 starting and ending with the EM title. Then going down from the WM 98, till 2006 with the „Summer Miracle“ a long way to the WM Title 2014 starts.
