Did Moog have a reason? Curious if you ordered replacement parts if you have the same problem. I am assuming you ordered AC Delco for replacements? I'm fixing to order suspension parts for my 56 Chevy. Now I am paranoid! :(
Papasmurf covered EVERYTHING I was about to mention including the fader switch because the fixed antenna is on the driverside fender, And important note that he mentioned is those oil cooler seals, Check the coolant reservoir tank, radiator and IF they have the “Milk Shake” mix I would inspect the Main bearings on the crankshaft….. But these cars CAN withstand some neglect for a little bit and just about ANYTHING can be rebuilt on these cars…. I’m running Volkswagen Golf visor clips in stainless steel and they’re a direct bolt on….👍👍👍
The answer to your question is... Rock Auto 😂 they are notoriously bad. Ordered two of the same water pumps for a 95 Mercedes SL.... they send me two water pumps for Mercedes S500
The rotary switch in the console is for the stereo fader control. The visor clips are pretty easy to find on ebay and amazon and are about $15 but they tend to be kind of fragile. There are some metal ones that are available that are much more durable and nicer looking but they cost about $40 a pair. The sport seats are nice looking...they look to be recovered. You may indeed have a blown head gasket but I would also look into the oil cooler seals as they have a tendency to fail as well and can cause similar looking intermix and the seals only cost about $30 to swap out.
Very informative upload. I just discovered rockauto and have put in my first order with them so I hope everything goes well with part selection and fitment. Your experience is very much appreciated. Keep informing the people...
Best film camera ever made. I have three of them, and all work like new...metering very accurate, dead on compared to my Pentax spotmeter V (calibrated by a reputable shop in Hollywood, California).., to my Minolta Spotmeter M, and to my Daughter's Nikon digital camera..I am still shooting film negative and slide..Wonderful piece of jewelry..
Moog has stuff made in china , Korea , Mexico , and Alabama. You can differentiate based on the letters in the part number and price . You get what you pay for as ussual
Moog has like 16 countries they sell and manufacture from. The RK series is the 3 year warranty oem replacement, the CK series is the more expensive upgrade version.I found this out the hard way
It matters where the parts are being made, for a number or reasons, quality of the steel being one that isn't readily apparent like fit but, the primary factor is that it matters, when they are being made, here, then there, then someplace else, then all over the place, while a bunch of management suits, chase the lowest operating costs around the various third world nations of the world. Far as I can tell, Moog doesn't make parts anymore at all. They just place orders with various third world factories, package them up in their boxes and peddle them to the end users. Made the mistake of replacing the lower control arms on my Subaru Outback with Moog assemblies, Made in China. One of the ball joints completely failed within 15k miles... Ate up a practically new tire too.
I ordered ac delco lower control arm bushings for my 82 c10 after watching this vid. The ac delcos are loose on my shafts like the moogs are in your vid. I'm returning them and going poly now.
Rock Auto drop ships from the same distributors as the local guys, enjoy paying twice for the same part. Also their is nothing wrong with the MOOG in this video, The shaft is NOT suppose to be an interference fit, it grips on the ends of the inner sleeve when tightened down, it isn't going to rattle when tightened down.
I just put one upper ball joint on my 1995 Chev k1500. I haven't changed one of these in years. I bought mine through Gilberts, in Canada. The partsman told me, over the phone, that Moog was junk because it is from China, and this brand was much better. I picked up the part, and when I looked at the box, it's made in China too! I did not research this company, but I can only say that the upper bg I put on fit properly, and maybe your part was mislabeled on the box... 🇨🇦🙄🙄🙄🙄🤔🤔🤔
Moog quality drop alot. Pass Moog at all cost. I like to add, my Camry lower control arm with the ball joints already clunking and making noises. Just don't have the time to get another LCA, because it is hassle replacing it.
You can order the same part from ten different places; everyone will be different. Doesn't matter who the manufacture is, they all buy from who has the best price at the time. All manufactures are doing that. No one place is better than the other.
Muncie SM330 HD 3 speed. Can ID it by having 2 bolts on the top rail of the side cover, opposed to the Saginaw SM326 3 speed which has 1 bolt on it top center of the side cover. Sags and Muncie both came with/ without the 5th bolt depending on year
I have a 1964 Chevy c10 it has a three speed manual with an unsycranized first gear with a four bolt pattern shifter cover do you know what it is thank you tim
I use to Buy Moog suspension components. Dornan use to be good My replacement instrument cluster for my Silverado was off by 3-4 mph under over 60 was 4-6. An led bulb was out., Soon it shorted out it was fun to find the parasitic drain. The cluster. Ac is spot on use cell speedo app and timer is exact. NAPA is going to stop selling Dornan due to fitment and quality control. A shop I use to hang out with the now new owner gets after me for not using Delco or Delphi. Everyone in the shop has lecutured me. In a bid needed new caliper bought house brand O'Reilly's as out of better brands it leaked fluid in steady stream I refused the OEM calipers until Rock Auto sent Delco it worked first try. The I o Reilly nearly broke head off banjo bolt try to stop the leak used the new washers it was not machined correctly.. Like optics, tools , audio you get what you pay for
Rockauto is an aggregator of sellers, just like Amazon is. They scout and find parts providers then give them a selling portal to access more customers. Sometimes the high use items are directly shipped from RA, other times the seller ships to you using RA boxes. It’s like Forest Gump says about a box of chocolates.....you never know what you’re going to get.
deck the block and resurface the head and put a metal head gasket on there. use npr piston rings and call it a day. im curious what did you do with this engine. ill have to look at more of your videos. great 4age engine.
I just watch another video that the MevoTech control arm's ball joint is TOO long which hitting the CV axle. What are they thinking? any QA department? I got MOOG 's bushing and they are made in India, the bushing's hole is even bigger than my 15 years old OEM bushings. I returned it and go to dealer instead. Thanks for the video.
