This is my favorite song from “The Lace” sung by Benjamin Orr, music by Benjamin and lyrics by Diane and Benjamin. In one of his interviews about this album, Ben said he had the music composed but his weakest point was in writing lyrics. His fiancé at that time, Diane, collaborated with him on setting words to his music. In my opinion, it worked out well and it is one of my favorite albums. Benjamin had a wonderful voice.

How in the world did Ben ever sing those complicated lyrics so seamlessly? It honestly astounds me every time I listen to his The Lace album. I’m also surprised a modeling agency didn’t put him on a million magazine covers. 🎉 Rockstar doesn’t do him justice because he is far above that.
I believe they dropped this song from their playlist during the tour. This is from their Door to Door - the last tour they did. The band was breaking up after this Orr and Ocasek weren’t speaking to each other, and no one was happy.

I think these lyrics are from DGPs point of view. believe they’re about how she feels when Ben is on tour,and the lyrics “I keep wondering what you’re doing when I’m not around “:and it’s “a shady thought to ask now” makes me think she doesn’t trust him to be faithful. She sounds insecure about their relationship and where she stands. There sounds like a lot of pain and uncertainty.
