Actor and comedian Bill Murray met German cellist Jan Vogler on a trans-Atlantic flight. The two struck up a friendship and soon had the idea to work together on a project: New Worlds. Murray - as both singer and narrator - brings his charm and wit to songs by Foster, Gershwin, and Bernstein, as well as readings of Whitman, Hemingway, and Twain, joined by musicians Jan Vogler (cello), Mira Wang (violin), and Vanessa Perez (piano).
You realise it was written by Van Morrison and only excruciatingly 'sung' by Murray do you? He clearly didn't know the song and resorted to Hollyweird histrionics to get through it.
I remember seeing Bill performing this on Colbert. This was a few weeks after Puerto Rico suffered the earthquake, and Trump responded in as shitty a way as one could. When Bill got to the line "Puerto Rico is in America!", the audience burst into wild applause that seemed to repudiate Trump.

On the other hand it goes to show that money, fame and good humour can get you a long way with very little talent. I mean your singing is absolutely abysmal. I have played with professional musicians and they are EXTREMELY intolerant if someone is not cutting it. They just want you replaced. The fact that didn't happen to you speaks volumes of how much they must have enjoyed your humour and company on tour....
Thr sincerity of bill's performance so vulnerable and so sincere....his joy is apparent....and its beautiful...I am so happy for him....this is now my favorite version of this beautiful van morrison song...as bill sings his praise you can see how surprised he is regarding how naturally he feels the music and the lyrics you see how it is moving him on a spiritual level....he transforms as he sings. This performance is significant and meant to be shared with the world its true art and truly gods love manifest. I think this may be the most beautiful thing he has ever done....pure beauty.
This is what Bill needs.....what he can't find in his movie and comedy material success is unconditional love for god..and God's for him..this is what his heart longs for ...and this is the happiest I've seen him. No anger in him while he sings praise.
Like my pastor always says "it's not about your ability it's about your availability." Bill Murray most definitely is not a singer but he obeyed what God inspired him to do and he put everything he had into this song. And through it he touched people. God bless you Bill Murray you earned a crown in Heaven for this my brother.🙏

We all lived in City and went to Gordonstoun, and Eton. My absoulute favourite film of all time is Razors Edge. Magnificent perfomance by you xx I will never forget how bloody brilliant you were in that. I read the book. Your best perfomance. @@amberdt82 no its really terrible and lazy - every singer knows he cant get the right expression if hes reading the vocals. You need to know your vocals close your eyes and sing. So your argument doesnt fit to me, there is no special emotion.
Bill Murray and Eric Clapton is friends for a long time. Jan Vogler plays with Eric Clapton for three songs in 2019 at Germany. I wonder if Bill introduced them?
