I have a Nordic track t10 and by default it has no sleeve on the roller, however after a few years, even after replacing the belt, lubricating it, and tensioning the new belt enough, belt doesn't slip at slow speeds(below 4kmph) I do notice occasional belt slip at higher speeds. Does it mean it requires a roller sleeve? Is that a recommended solution?
GOT A PROFORM MODEL # PFTL13115.3 Plugged it in and nothing console does Not light up, motor doesn't make any noise, treadmill itself doesn't even make a startup beep. Took the bottom cover off. There is a red LED light & a green LED light on ( not flashing or blinking ) just solid on. Took a voltage meter and there is power to it something like 9-12 volts went up to the console and there is power there too only something like 8 volts though. No signs of any burnt areas neither the controller Nor the console, No pinched wires all connections are plugged in correctly, ground wires are grounded too. I am at a lose TY Melissa ProForm treadmill
Hi, if you are getting voltage up to the console but it is not powering up, that would indicate a bad console. The console for this unit has been discontinued, unfortunately. We do have a Treadmill Rescue Kit that would work to get you up and running again. Here's a video showing the kit - Rescue Kit Video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3c5XnTplPNQ.html Here is a link to the Rescue Kit and a discount code to use - www.treadmilldoctor.com/Treadmill-Doctor-Rescue-Kit DISCOUNT CODE - ME22
Hi. Do you have the full model number off the machine? The model number is located at the base of the machine, usually up front by the power switch or if it is a fold up unit underneath on the frame and will start with RBTL or 831
These look like numbers off the console, I need the full model number off the frame of the machine when you fold the machine up in the storage position underneath. It will start with RBTL or 831
Hi, I have a Life Fitness F1 threadmill that I have barely used. For some bizarre reason the speed and incline will allow and increase but no decrease. I've had the machine for over a year and bought brand new 😢 Any advice ? Thanks ❤
My treadmill is running fine without a load but as soon as I go on after about 3mph it resets back to 0 after about 60 seconds. Is this a motor related issue? The belt is quite worn out but I don't think this is the problem.
If the machine runs fine without a load but shuts down with a load, this would indicate a worn walking belt. See link - www.treadmilldoctor.com/shuts-down-during-a-workout How old is the walking belt and when was it last lubed? Do you have the full model and serial number off the machine?
Hot Dog!!! We have a ProForm Sport 7.0 Treadmill, Mod: PFTL50919 and one morning my wife wanted to use the treadmill and discovered it was stuck at the highest incline level (higher than 10). I punched a few buttons and was able to get it to zero incline. But then the incline buttons didn't work. THEN I came across this MAGICAL video. I followed the instructions and now the treadmill works like new. The video is 2 years old but worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. You performed a GREAT SERVICE for many. I was just about ready to call a repair company. Many dollars saved. 👍👍💥
my proform pro 2000 just quit. i replaced the motor before. just bought a new motor. there is a ground wire on the old motor under the fan going to the treadmill chassis. the new motor doesnt have the male space with wire connecting to it so nowhere to connect this. i'm assuming it will ground through the chassis? same motor model. this is in addition to the red/black and 2 blue wires. also, i saw you sell brushes. i plan to keep the old motor this time as that is what failed last time. the brushes you sell... what motors do they fit? i have motor model 116zy3-1
kind of looked like a ground for the cooling fan? small gauge. the lug, motor chassis and treadmill chassis are all continuous when mounted so i just went with it. seems to be working fine. this is my second motor. never replaced the belt. 10 years old. what's the life expectancy of the belt? and also interested in buying new brushes to re-use the old motor next time. first motor was replaced at 3 years under warranty. 2nd went 6 years until it quit. treadmills are only getting more expensive and no better. they add bells and whistles but take away quality and functionality.
Hi, the new motor shouldn't need that ground if I it is one of ours and I am understanding correctly. Motors and motor controllers typically fail due to excessive friction between the belt and deck. Have you been lubing the belt throughout the life of it periodically, every 6 months or so? If your belt is 10 years old, then it may need to be replaced. See link - www.treadmilldoctor.com/walking-belt-friction-problems-kf Thanks. You can email me at mike.easterling @ treadmilldoctor.com
@@treadmilldoctor I sold it. I am glad. too much space for the clothes hanger. but it was the marathon xl and sounded like noise from the motor. as in the current inducing the vibration. It didnt sound unnatural, just louder than other models I have. I sent your email to the buyer. maybe they will send you a recording.
This was super helpful for drive belt, thank you! My last problem is that I KNOW I counted turns for the belt but after replacing it I realized it would be much too tight. Is there a video on what to do in that situation?
Good morning, if it is too tight, loosen each rear roller bolt a half turn each until you can lift the center of the belt about 2 inches. Or, loosen both bolts a half turn each until you get it to slip then, tighten each bolt a quarter turn each until it stops slipping. @@treadmilldoctor Good morning and thank you! I know it sounds like common sense but it’s like half way through the turns it was too much. I wish I had found your channel before but I’ll try this!
Can you elaborate on the issue you are having with your machine? Maybe I can help figure out what the issue is. Also, do you have the full model and serial number off the machine? Thanks
@@treadmilldoctor Many thanks for your offer. Its a BTM, model 8030C. It was eventually tripping the circuit breaker as soon as it was turned on without hitting start. It initially tripped it during a run. I don't seem to have a serial number.
Thank you, this looks to be an international model so I don't have much information on the machine itself but, if it initially tripped the breaker then that was likely due to excessive friction between the belt and deck, see link - www.treadmilldoctor.com/shuts-down-during-a-workout This can overload the unit and damage the motor control board which is likely what happened here, a shorted out motor controller. How old is the walking belt on the machine and when was it last lubed?
Yes, it sounds like a board issue. You can test your motor to rule it out, here's how if that unit has a DC Drive motor - www.treadmilldoctor.com/motor-testing
Can you please help me my Horizon 7.0AT keeps shutting off whenever I go on a 10.5 incle with 3.5 speed it only last about a minute before it resets the incline to 0 and the speed to 0.5. I'm currently walking on it at 3.0 incline and 1.5 speed its been about 4:00 minutes and its fine I don't know what to do
so i have the proform sport 5.0,well I think my treadmill does the full expansion incline to 10 in the "cal" function but when i turn it on normally it goes to 5 and then skips straight to 10, as well stops moving up after like incline level 3. soo lost on what to do next.. ?? anything would help, got it as a gift used.
Hello, apologies for the delay. Do you have the full model number off the machine? If you fold the unit up in the storage position, it will be underneath down by your feet on the frame and will start with PFTL or 831

Here are some troubleshooting steps - www.treadmilldoctor.com/incline-motor-problems It could be an issue in the gearbox of the motor or an incline sensor issue. Treadmill Doctor reviews are garbage. They give write ups praising, for instance, the Sole F63, F65 and F80 treadmills and then give them a 3 out of 5 star rating (or less for the F63). The whole write ups were about how high a rating everyone in the industry gives to these Sole treadmills and then the TD gives it a 3/5 star rating. Talk about inconsistency - and worthless.
I would go ahead and lube it after installation and then every 6 months after. Some lubes are different, some require application every 3-6 months and our world famous lube only has to be applied once a year. Hello, I have a machine like that. I don't know if you can help me confirm if that is the controller card that the machine has. It arrived without that card.
Good morning! Run the machine at 2.5 MPH without a person on the belt. If the motor and drive system are healthy, you should have a reading in the 2-3 amp range. Then walk on the treadmill at the same speed. With a person of average size (around 200 lbs.) you should have a reading in the 6-8 amp range if the belt is good. The readings will fluctuate more with a load but you are looking for an average reading but you shouldn't see spikes above 10 amps. If the amp readings are high without a load, you could have a problem with high resistance in the motor, a bad bearing, or over-tightened belts. Regular readings without a load but high readings with a load indicate a worn belt and/or deck.

@@treadmilldoctor Hi the reasons should be same for all motors? My Motor says it has 5 Amp written on it. And if I use the clamp metre on 2,5mph it gives 1-2 Amps. When under load it goes to 6-8 Amps. Sometimes very briefly to 10 Amps. So that indicates the Motor and deck is fine? But still the treadmill has a problem that it shuts down after 20-30 minutes. And the motor gets hot. So there must be a friction problem anywhere? Or is it the circuit board?
What seems to be the issue with your machine? Is the belt bogging down? How old is the walking belt and when was it last lubed? How often is it lubed? Do you have the full model number off your machine?
Hi Mike. Thnanks for such a great video. Do you have any other videos on how to maintain these ellipticals (CLSX) models? I bought one and it seems to work great, but the resistance doesn't work (no change in resistance when I switch from level 1 to 16). Thoughts?
Hi, the resistance issue could be caused by a couple of things. Do you have the serial number off the machine? Here is a good article on elliptical maintenance - www.treadmilldoctor.com/blog/how-why-and-where-to-lubricate-an-elliptical
I have a Horizon T101 that I just bought and finished assembly yesterday. Everything works great except the incline, it is stuck at max after trying to set it to 3 to start a workout. Do you happen to know if this method works for this model?
Thank you, is the machine still powering up? What seems to be the issue with it? The console can be operated with batteries as well. Page 7 in your manual here - sfi.iconfitness.com/SalesForceInterface/download/file?fileName=GGEX61607.0-256480.pdf&directory=%2Fpdf%2F
Hello, do you know how to troubleshoot a fitness avenue treadmill SKU: FA-7966? The incline is not working. It will not go up, it only makes the sound as if it would
Do you have the full model number off the frame of the machine starting with NTL or 831? Can you send me a photo of the control board in your machine under the motor cover to my email mike.easterling @treadmilldoctor.com
What about adding a Bluetooth Transmitter / Receiver to a treadmill that doesn't have Bluetooth, so we can use an app that will show up on treadmill screen. Or can we fully replae a board with an updated board that has Bluetooth ? I have an old Spirit X 685 that works perfectly fine ,but can't run any apps on it { like ZWIF} and join group runs where my treadmill shows my data . Thanks.
Min works.. it's just very weak and stalls super easy.. Even if I have it turned all the way up. I put fancy silicone lube like you're supposed to.. Didn't help. Everything seems to work, just has weak torque
If the belt is too far gone, no amount of lube will help. How old is the belt? Here is a test you can run for the belt - www.treadmilldoctor.com/dc-amp-draw See link, there is a simple motor test in this link as well - www.treadmilldoctor.com/treadmill-belt-bogs-down
Does the machine power off or the belt just stops? Any error codes? Sounds like a possible bad motor controller. I would open the motor cover to check for an LED blink code on the control board down by the motor. See video - LED Blink Code (ICON) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QszHrCs72AM.html
@@treadmilldoctor thank you so much for the reply. The machine is on, just the belt runs for 2sec and stops, no errors or codes, the light in the control board is sold and the upfront harness is connected. Still have the same issue. Any further hep please and super thanks
Have you moved he machine lately or been under the motor cover? Sometimes the speed sensor can get bumped out of alignment. I would check the speed sensor down by the front roller pulley. It should be clean and facing directly at a small magnet on the pulley with a small air gap about 1/8 inch. Do you have the full model number off the machine? If you fold the unit up it will be underneath down by your feet on the frame. It can also be found under the motor cover on the voltage diagram or on the front of the user manual.
Hi I had a question for you. I have the Pro form Carbon T7 treadmill and my screen is now just blinking on and off with the IFIT symbol. I tried unplugging the screen from the motherboard like you have shown in your video and didn’t help. Also trying basic hard reset with pushing the button. Do you think it could be I need to replace the board like you did in this video ? Just curious thank you
This sounds more like a failing console. If the console was not powering on at all then it could be the lower board but since it is coming on but just blinking the symbol would indicate a failing console. Do you have the full model number off the machine? The model number is located at the base of the machine, usually up front by the power switch or if it is a fold up unit underneath on the frame and should start with PFTL or 831
So, just to clarify, you did try the pinhole reset with a paperclip found on page 30 in your manual here - sfi.iconfitness.com/SalesForceInterface/download/file?fileName=PFTL79720.0-416384.pdf&directory=%2Fpdf%2F The console is $449.99 plus $29.99 shipping. I feel slipping while i put silicone spray, i can't push the belt with pushing walking..... What's wrong? I feel it holding in when i step on it while on running
Hello, i have a Pro Form PF 3.6, never had problems, but about 6 months ago i thought i should take better care of it and bought silicone to lubricate the walking belt. Since then... the problem started and after 20 minutes of use it starts with that burning smell. I realized today that this model does not require lub and the brand does not recommend it. So my question is how can i clean this, hoping it will be ok again. Appreciate your help! thxs
All walking/running belts will have to be lubed at some point. There is simply no such thing as a "No Maintenance Belt". See Video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ltfmy6Q55Uc.html . Manufacturers use to use that as a selling point to sell more units. Lubing the belt wouldn't cause that issue unless you used the wrong type of lube. Walking belts are a wear item that need to be replaced every few years. If the belt is over 5 years old then it is likely just worn and needs to be replaced, especially if you haven't lubed it at all until 6 months ago.
I know this is an older how-to, but I'll still comment. Outstanding walk-through of the procedure. I was nervous about tackling this, but it was easy to follow. Highly recommend.
I took over someone else's treadmill and they said they never had any issues with it. I only used it once and after 20 minutes it started omitting a burning smell and some smoke, from the front of the treadmill. I used an extension cord because the treadmill's cord is way too short to plug into the wall, anywhere in my house. Could the electrical cord be the cause and if so, how do i solve this?
This is most likely due to excessive friction between the belt and deck from a worn walking belt. It is not recommended to use an extension cord, but I don't think that is what is causing this issue. Here is a test you can run - www.treadmilldoctor.com/dc-amp-draw Do you have the full model number off the machine?
@@treadmilldoctor thank you. I'll have to try that. I also suspected friction, but the previous owner said they never had an issue (they couldn't use it anymore due to a back injury). That's why I'm trying to figure out what else it could be. I can't look up the number at the moment, it's pretty late now, where I live. I'll unfold it in the morning to check. The model is an Easy Up treadmill with a Dunlop belt. I did buy a new, shorter and very powerful extension cord, one that can handle a treadmill, because there's nowhere in the house for me to plug it in otherwise and most people that I know that own a treadmill also use an extension cord without issues 🤷
@@treadmilldoctorI lubricated the belt, as per instructions. After 15-20 minutes it still produces a burning smell. It's just the belt that feels warm to the touch, not even hot. The motor doesn't get warm at all. I also realigned the belt, as it was too much to the right. Still no change. Could the smell just simply be residu? And if so, now long would that last?!
Were you able to run the DC amp Draw test? Do you happen to know how old the belt is? They typically need to be replaced every 5-7 years on average. It is one of the most common issues people have with their machines.
