Yes a night fighter, HJ711 had served with 141 and 169 squadrons. 141 Squadron fly intruder missions over German night fighter airfields in support of Bomber Command. dedicated support group. 169 Squadron joined No. 100 Group at Little Snoring. The squadron re-equipped with Mosquito II night fighters in January 1944 and commenced night intruder operations against German night fighters
I don’t have the 110 anymore but as far as I remember I just made sure there were no drain holes in the seat box and that the factory seals for the wiring loom were in good condition plus sprayed everything with electrical waterproofing stuff and didn’t have any issues with water getting in. Did the same for the battery box and again no water got in. Hope this helps
@@polochop13 Looked like you got pretty deep in the Krossá (the really big one) and Holmsá (the really wide, sandy one). Have forded both in old purely mechanical Russian trucks - currently totting up pros and cons of a refurbished Td5, and encouraged to hear you managed obstacles like these without major rearrangement
Hi mate, I am a Land Rover RU-vidr from the UK, I am in the middle of a project for a video where I’m asking a few Land Rover enthusiasts a few questions (such as what got them into land rovers, what was there first Land Rover, what’s there best Land Rover story etc.) I was just wondering if you would be willing to partake in this project by any chance. If not then that’s fine and if you would be interested then please let me know and I will share a private video with you explaining everything. Cheers, Rhys
Hi They we’re BFG AT old version. AT would be recommended only did 1 muddy section 1km that was it. The AT’s were perfect on all the river crossings, sand and gravel tracks.
Hi Zak, we went on a guided tour for a week, west to east and they wouldn’t allow sat navs or any other navigation devices . I can’t remember the name of the company but Wayne is the owner and they are based just across the border in France.
I’m currently in progress with organising a Iceland road trip with 110, can you advise me on what paperwork we might need for the arrival and travelling around Iceland. Couple of friends are driving the 110 to the ferry port and I will meet them once they arrive We’re just tying to arrange a smooth hassle free road trip Your advise will be much appreciated
Paul Seager hi, I am from uk and my 110 is uk registered (we went via ferry from Denmark) my normal uk insurance was fine as they cover Iceland as being in Europe, I emailed them to double check. Breakdown cover, from bitter past experience i would go for the best & likely most expensive, check they include Iceland as Europe. Also if modified tell them. My uk driving licence was fine. We got a sticker to put on the windscreen saying from when entering to leaving Iceland which I think they border guards at the ferry port gave us when getting off the ferry. Can’t think of anything else, we went in a group so could always get towed out of the interior if there was no phone signal if we broke down, as off roading is illegal all the 4x4 tracks in the interior are actual roads so should be covered by breakdown service but may be worth checking. Hope this helps.
Hi - I have watched your Iceland trip with great interest. Am I right in thinking you are based in Devon? We are in Devon and have already booked the sea passages to take our Defender 90 to Iceland next year for a month. We will be trekking as well as driving. We wondered if you could pass on any additional advice perhaps by meeting up?
all i want to say is great choice of music.. complements the bitter feeling that results from the envious feelings i am harbouring for you :D greetings from little Malta :)
Hi Jesse There are not many lanes on Dartmoor but they are very scenic and not too challenging. E of Postbridge - Pizwell to Ephraim Pinch (Small ford) SW of Widecombe in the Moor - East Shallowford to Broadaford NE of Widecombe in the Moor - Bonehill Down to Isaford E of Houndtor - Leighton to Blackhill E of Blackhill - Holne Brake to Water through Hound Tor Wood N of Water - Barncourt to North Bovey (inc ford) N of North Bovey further N past Moretonhampstead - Cranbrook to Fingle Bridge (nice pub at Fingle Bridge then can do same lane in reverse up hill) A few minor small ones that I have not tried because they were too narrow Worth going down to Haytor/Ilsington/Liverton area as there are quite a few in a small area including Simms Hill (famous hill climb) Loads also all around Totnes, too many to list but are on the OS Map I do not know the area West of Princetown but there are lots of lanes down the Tamar Valley, have seen on You Tube and a lot look narrow, rocky, washed out and challenging There is also a famous ford at Lopwell Dam on River Tavy, need to check tide times as it is too deep at high tide Hope this helps Regards Mark
Thanks very much. If you have any postcodes or anything that would be great. Narrow doesn't bother me. Land rover already scratched to bits. In a discovery 300 tdi. Fairly kitted out. Just won't go through anything too deep or muddy on our own. As nobody to pull us out.
Hi, Widecombe/Bovey/Liverton area post code is TQ12 area, if you get the Ordnance Survey OL28 Map it will cover all the lanes on Dartmoor on the North Sheet. You will see them marked around the place names, just start from Postbridge and work East
Hi guys trip looks amazing. We were hoping to do something similar with a uk company who do guided tours. May I ask what was the estimated total cost of your trip ?
Defender Dave , hi the total cost was £4500 inc tour/ferry/food drink & fuel for 2 weeks in Iceland + 4 days total on ferry + 2 days in Denmark + 2 days driving to Denmark & back. Would highly recommend Venture 4x4, great value, great organisation & very friendly. Things to bear in mind, all food & drink is extortionate even in larger supermarkets, ironically eating out (just the once) pizza was same price as U.K. We took most of our own dehydrated food, cereal bars, oak cakes etc, just thought we would get small tub of tomatoes (£5) & cheese (£5) for lunch each day as it would be cheap! On the ferry we went for buffet breakfast (expensive) but great & cheaper dinner for eve rather than buffet which was awful. Also take your own drinks for ferry (pint of coke £8). Also take more warm clothes than you think you will need. All in all was a trip of a lifetime, an amazing country & again can't recommend venture 4x4 enough.
Gail Holyoake Hi Gail, this is lane is West of Totnes just past Foliation House & Foliation Farm of the left. It will take you South towards Peak Cross. Regards Mark
Nathan Worth Hi Nathan, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, i was on holiday. I can't be 100% sure as it was on a guided trip by Lanes Tracks & Trails but I think it was north of Totnes & Littlehempston between Tally Ho Bridge & Uphempston. Regards Mark
Hi this one is just outside the village of North Bovey, there are a few around this area mainly outside the National Park boundary, mainly around Fingle Bridge, Chagford, North Bovey, Manatan, Water, Bovey Tracey, Ilsington & Old Liverton
