I think there’s more to Makoto’s weapons, her brass knuckles can easily be hidden, along with her revolver, reflecting her willingness to do espionage for the team. They also can be seen as weapons of strength, as the knuckles rely on focusing the strength of the user and a revolver is seen as strong and reliable. Her revolver could also represent her dream to join the police force and follow her father’s example, as the revolver was and is common police weapon. There are also parallels between her weapons and Joker’s, being they fill similar roles with different purpose in mind. They also fill similar roles like Ryuji in being weapons that are used by the “muscle” archetype. I think they more parallel joker in that regard however, they seem like similar people with different upbringings and goals.
I'm of the opinion that an all adult cast simply doesn't work that well, for the reasons you yourself explained. It's hard for adults to line up their schedules and all be ready for something on specific days, not to speak of unexpected things happening and getting in the way. However, one or two adults in specific situations can work. Zenkichi quickly became one of my favorite characters in all of Persona simply because of what he represents: a call to action to the older generations, that it's never too late to get up and get out there, fighting for what's right. I think I saw someone once propose the idea that, for a Persona game, it would be interesting for the social sim elements to happen as usual but the Tartarus/ TV World/ Metaverse of it to be an MMORPG. MMOs are one of those types of game that can appeal to everyone and anyone due to it's sheer size and content, making it possible for all kinds of people, from Ryujis and Junpeis who wanna play as a big badass warrior, to the Harus and Fuukas who simply want to see a beautiful world and explore (although I'm sure Haru would definitely enjoy grinding monsters for XP as well). In this specific manner, I could see more adult characters also becoming main party members, but again, Persona always felt like a "teens rebelling against something wrong in the world", even before P5 that was literally just that. Still, I'm no game designer, so I'll just keep waiting to see what Atlus comes up with for P6.
Simply put... examples relating to adult life day-to-day-life simulator and scheduling are too *_REAL_* and *_MONDANE,_* and those are literally the *_LAST_* thing im looking for when engaging with a persona game, to emulate my everyday adult life that I already have and am experiencing currently.....
I'm surprised that a good chunk of people are against having more adult characters in the franchise. Discovering new parts of yourself, going through hardships, meeting new people, and growing and pursuing happiness is something you do repeatedly for the rest of your life. Not just once, when you're 15-17.
A mixed age cast could work well, in a neighborhood watch story connecting to others that you usually wouldn’t to protect the community as a whole could be a theme. In persona 3 there’s Ken and multiple adult characters accompanied the thieves in the p5 spin offs, so it wouldn’t be to much of a stretch
People really think Persona 5 would be better with an adult cast? I'm sorry but I cannot agree. Part of what makes the Phantom Thieves so inspiring is that they're so young. Your child and teenage years are when you're normally considered the most helpless yet the Phantom Thieves leave more of an impact than most adults
Yeah. They are the hope people had in Gen Z after the generations before fumbled so badly. The fight between Maruki and Joker really hit it home between the mindset between the two. Hell,Yu Narukami and Adachi also reflect this to degrees.
Yes, they have no true responsibilities or life experiences. They lack true depth and emotional complexity. They are romcom jdrama level, not award winning jdrama.

Also what does responsibility or life experience have to do with anything (even though the Phantom Thieves have experienced things nobody ever should)? Maya and Katsuya from P2 don't have much life experience either and yet they're better than almost any JRPG cast I've ever seen. Tatsuya has the least life experience of his entire cast and he's the best character in the series
I gotta disagree, but I see your point. A story about the "young generation rising up to fix society cause the older ones failed and gave up" is told in every generation as a sort of power fantasy. In real life, societal reform happens when people of different ages and backgrounds participate. The only reason the Phantom Thieves could achieve what they did was cause they were the only ones "Igor" gave the Metaverse App to. He could have gave the metaverse nav app to the P1 cast (who would be almost 40 in 2016, if im not mistaken) and they probably would have done the same thing the Thieves did.
A common idea I hear about this a lot is making them college students. Wouldn’t be a bad idea, let’s the devs stick to the same schedule formula who’ll still allowing room for unique situations like a party member not being available because of scheduling
I mean I think a good starting point for a Persona game focused on adults would be the latest Yakuza games, since they're about adults who are outcasts learning to become better people while also taking place in a modern urban setting. Like it's actually amazing how much they share DNA wise, all you'd really need is to add a calendar system, Personas, and some otherworldly dimension and it's done!
while it still could apply to teens, i was thinking about a hikkikomori protag where you literaly start from nothing in the beginning. Focus on being a late bloomer and seeing everyone ahead of you(on the surface). You will have more freedom on your schedule by always having the choice not to attend to college classes but the resource gain or lack there of can be risky. For the setting and reason of the time limit i whould propose a forced exchange programm overseas . its kinda going into the cliche self descovery trip for people in their 20s. I am very biased on this. Let the shadowrealm be an MMORPG. Play into the liminal eeriness of abadoned zones and urban legens about ingame areas. Brows fake social media like in the .Hack series or hypno space outlaw. Expand thematic social links like Toriumi sensei. As for the theme i whould go with balance and stagnation. Do nothing, risk nothing gain nothing. Focus too much on self improvement and career and you will distance youself from your relationships. Find healthy goals even if your too old.
I feel like another good story for Persona would be adults discovering what makes them happy and trying to find happiness in this world. Like an office worker forced to work overtime for their family learning to balance his work life balance. Another adult who has a high paying job, but is crushed by loneliness. Another adult who comits to vices because those temporarily happiness are the only things keeping them alive. There are more examples I can list, but those are a few.
An inversion of Madarame, with someone vowing not to become someone jealous of, nor exploitative of, younger generations. (Not becoming Cronus, the Titan who sought to devour his own offspring until he was thwarted by Zeus being swapped with a rock)
I don't know if it matters or helps but I was curious there wasn't a mention to the Yakuza games as in 7 and 8 or well the Like a Dragon games as how they are very much RPGs with full adult casts and a lot of social elements.
I really really want to come up with a new glamour for Dawntrail, and I have created a kind of Puss in Boots in Ezio Colors glam for Viper. But I'm a Black Mage main at heart, and I've had a spectacular glam for it since Heavensward that I always keep going back to. Cool, breatheable, a lil foxy, with the Gubal hat to give bookish charm. My Raen looks like a sexy nerdy pirate wizard and its always looked decently in place. Like Indiana Jones, except she's a 4'11 goth lizard with an attitude problem.

I'd say the MegaMan StarForce series. Geo Stellar who had recently lost his father in an astronaut incident shells himself from the world. I don't relate to the loss of a loved one, but shelling myself off from everyone was very much similar. Through events of the game, he's forced out of his shell by everything including himself. Playing StarForce 1 helped me realize that taking the right chances will force you out of your shell for the better.
I'm surprised you haven't done an analysis on the personas from Persona 4. I saw someone about their shadows, but not about how Japanese mythology of their starting personas impacts their storylines
A recurring thing about the Lovers Arcana is that all three characters associated with it are the first female party members the protagonists (or at least, we, the players) see. Granted, Rise is a bit of a stretch because rather than seeing her "in person", she's shown in a commercial playing on Narukami's train to Inaba.
I believe that something worth looking into is that Shadow Teddie has the Moon Arcana, even though Teddie himself is the Star Arcana. Whether this is an allusion to ST's true nature, using the Arcana as symbolism again, or just a writing oversight, I don't know.

I've seen this video multiple times, and after beating both strikers and tactica I'm kind of disappointed that Haru didn't lean into aspect of her character that is high society. Wouldn't it have been so cool if she and Joker infiltrated a high society party in the real world, and she uses her elegance to acquire information? Unfortunately they leaned too hard into her to say psychotic things with a smile on her face
Loki once cut thor’s wife’s hair but hat means Thor will kill Loki so he goes to the dwarfs to get it fix and tries to manipulate to sides to get what he wants but one side wasn’t so gullible this could represent when he manipulated the phantom thieves and Shido but the phantom thieves caught up to them
