As a card carrying member of Gen Z, most of the criticism of Gen X comes from Millennials. The majority of Gen Z is cool with Gen X. The problem with Gen Z however, is that the annoying ones are REALLY loud and retarded while the normal ones have more important shit to worry about than complain about Generations
“The irony is it takes 2 generations to even come up with the idea they can come at us. But yet… they hide behind their keyboards and screen because well eff their $hit up. Everything they have is from agent. Everything they will lose, is because of GenX. Go ahead, make our day.” ~Said some GenX somewhere.
@@hyphenjeffwell ig ill just preface this by saying I don't really get the "fights" between generations. But my assumption is that Gen X is kinda seen as Boomer lite in that you carry a lot of trauma that boomers hold onto, i mean you literally say that no one eas there for your emotions and, as a result your not as emotionally stable. I'm also not saying that like gen z/alpha are the pinnacle of human existence but, and once again you kinda alluded to the point that older generations just are kind of harder to deal with in an ever changing world where vulnerability and emotions are being talked about in a more positive light. Also ik I wrote a whole ass essay but my last thing is there's plenty of ppl in my generation I can't stand because they perpetuate this fight between generations without trying to find a solution
@@communismenjoyer1858 This was all well said. The point, I think, with Gen Xers is we get everyone's trauma. I have a TON of empathy for millenials, as do most of my Gen X buddies. Boomers and Gen X have Massive differences in my mind because the selfishness. Gen X was RAISED by "The Silent Generation." We were taught to be silent and that we weren't important. We are SO different than boomers in that regard. We were taught to sit down, shut up, take care of yourself, no one cares. And we were also the first generation to say "Hey wait... that was a shitty way to be raised." I don't want that for my kid.
@@hyphenjeff that's awesome, and I genuinely mean that. However for me it feels like your video was kinda saying the opposite. Like "gen x/alpha are silly for coming at us because we're tough. We don't fuck around" kinda vibe. And I don't think I'm the only one reading it like that given some of the other replies. Idk tho, u seem like a good person and maybe im just misinterpreting
@@communismenjoyer1858 yeah, looking at it in a bubble I see how it's taken that way. In the video we talk about how we were angry because it wasn't socially acceptable to be sad. So I didn't mean we were "beat you up" tough I meant we just had to be tough and that we're still having issues with our emotional stability. So more like "don't come at us because we're not as emotionally regulated" was supposed to be the "Joke" there. I'm using the word joke loosely. But hey, thanks for the convo! This is exactly why we do this podcast. We want to shed a light on emotionally complex issues. We're not ALWAYS successful. :)
Without a doubt there have been serial killers throughout history that no one has heard of and went to their grave keeping their secrets to themselves. I wonder how many of them thrived during wartime when it was easier to hide their crimes.
Totally agree that Schitt's Creek is awesome, on my 5th re-watch. Everytime I watch I enjoy another aspect of a character. Tis the best of us humans. Peace.
Loved the video and writing advice! An experience that truly changed me is playing a team sport such as volleyball. It’s really overwhelming when you start to practice something you like, and then feel like everyone around you constantly gets better but you feel like you can’t keep up. Added to that, we have a pretty harsh coach, who permits the scene for harshness in general. So I’ve had a lot of experiencies with teammates where they have been rude and dismissive because I/ someone else makes a mistake(s). But it repeated, in several matches, with several teammates and I analyzed my thoughts and how it was a pattern. I was feeling stuck in my journey/ not self compassionate because others weren’t compassionate, and my teammates weren’t compassionate because they weren’t self-compassionate either (probably because some other teammate did the same they’re now doing, AND IT LOOPS. So when I realized that, I came to terms with my journey and started to notice that I actually was progressing, and when I focused on my progress I was able to enjoy my sport SO much more, and also appreciate all of my new abilities. It’s kinda hard not to compare one self with others in sports, but I’m glad that now I do it without a self-destructive aim. +and also these situations inspired me to always make my teammates feel appreciated and supported. I offer a helping hand instead of rolling my eyes, now I tell them that their efforts are valued. These experiences truly lead you to act as a catalyst for change.
This is SO good! I love the lesson of only comparing yourself to yourself. There's also something in here that we talk about in the Whiplash episode where the teacher affects the students in how they lead. Toxic teachers or coaches will create toxic captains or team leaders. Inspiring teachers or coaches will create inspiring captains, etc. Thank you SO much for sharing. This is exactly the type of story I'm talking about!
When i was 11 years old i had a dream that my step brothers urethra was literally big enough to walk inside of, while standing, and there was a sticker bush vine floating in the center and i walked deep inside his urethra and then he farted and the urethra began to shrink and push me into the sticker bush thorns and i woke up. Interpret that.
Six Feet Under. Most (every?) episodes start with the last minute(s) of the person destined to be a corpse for the family to preserve. Some corpse stories have a more profound effect on the episode plot than others. Exception is first episode, still a favorite: kitschy funeral advertisements, before they hit you with Nathaniel’s demise.
@@hyphenjeff yeah the plot would be introduced in the first couple of minutes...it basically had a cold open and then the title shows saying the plot "The Gang ______" which was part of what made it funny. But after it went onto streaming where you can see the title first, that part kind of lost the comedic effect it had. Kind of hard to explain until you see it.
