This is a great song on so many levels, Joel is a master songwriter. As good as this rendition is though, the 98 version he did with Bekka Bramlett in his touring band and singing with him was jaw droppingly great. There's a version in Philly getting around on YT. Go check it out. Either way this is a are live gem and we should appreciate Billy while he is still doing it

Born and raised on the island, I only saw him once at the coliseum back in ‘89. Phenomenal show. Moved away 24 years ago but go home several times a year. Billy Joel always gets me homesick. I’ve gotta go see him at this “stable”.
I played High School basketball and was able to enjoy sizable crowds, sometimes 2,500 cheering me on for a basket, which was TRULY exhilarating to experience the cheers from a crowd reacting to you. This here, is borderline heavenly for Billy Joel to be able to experience 20,000 + every night like this, has to be just mindboggling euphoric 🤯 You don't need to drink or do drugs when you have this kind of love and support from your fans throughout the entire country.
Its insane how well his voice has aged. As with any vocalist in their 70s or 80s, his lung capacity/note duration is much shorter than when he was in his 30s or 40s or 50s. That’s normal. But he can still hit the notes. Go listen to people like Elton John or even someone significantly younger like Bono. Their voices are shot. This is remarkable

I was so disappointed with his performance. In my opinion, he relied on the audience to sing the chorus. It seemed as though he was experiencing some vocal issues or something… When he finally sang the band cranked up the volume to tune him out. I felt like he was desperately trying to deflect by doing some lame dance moves. Yes I know he’s not a young man anymore. Wouldn’t you want to trail off into the sunset on a good note. It was difficult to watch and even harder to listen to.
We definitely took a while to warm up because I didn't know he wrote so many bangers back in his day lol. I'm 23 and he was my favorite act of the night. I'd already seen Culture Club at the Paramount and thought that was a better show music wise 🤷 I was out of my seat for the whole Howard set and sat for most of the other two so... Yeah 🤷😂
Honestly if you know anything about Howard he has always put crowd interaction at the top of his shows , i mean heck just check out Japan aid back in the 80's the gig he did there, here he performed in almost the exact way as he did over 30 years ago, sure he can't quite hit those high's like he used to but the dudes in his 60's or something by now he sounds still better than half the crap around these days...
