The toroidal transformer on this thing is huge ! The amplifier is not necessarily a looker but one of the best builds from Denon ever (with the 850 and 850 II). Do you still have it ?
Bought this in 1975 and it is still my only amp. Initially I paired it with Bose 901's and a Phillips 212 turntable. I want to replace the Bose 901's because my space doesn't work well for the reflective sound. Otherwise I have never felt a need to replace anything. I just love the sound of this thing and it has never needed servicing. I am following comments to see what speakers others have paired it with.
I love the Sansui sound. I recently got a au9500 from a collector and it sounds fantastic even though the main caps have been renewed. I came into the sound of Sansui through the more modest au101, and was so impressed by the amazing sound of this little amp that I just had to get me the mighty au9500. I was not disappointed. I hooked it up with hefty vintage speakers that seemed a good match. The A speakers are IMF TLS80 and the B speakers Magnat MSP200. They sound very different (IMF's are laid back and the Magnats are more forward) so I can choose what sound I like best for my current mood. I have kept the au101 for the bedroom.
This is an audio amplifier, allowing for a many inputs ( cd player , tuner , record player ) to be plugged in then amplifies the sound and sends it to your speakers.
I owned a Sansuo G-8000 sold it bought a Pioneer 1250 sold it to buy another Sansui G-8000 because i missed that Sansui sound but after all sales I made enough in profit to buy my G-8000 😆
I own 2 of the G-8000 one overseas model and one US model. Love them both to death. Have had the overseas model I picked up in Italy over 40 years. Wouldn’t give it up for anything.
My mom used to own this. Then I got it from her. This turntable played all 80s and 90s records I loved. But it was not such a good machine really, it seem like it was totally unisolited som every move you did wes heard thrue the speakers. The sound from it itself was ok, I once got an ortofone head for it, and that made the sound coming from the player a bit better. Whats YOUR story with this turntable?? =)
Are there any known problems with that model , i guess what im getting at is did you have to replace any parts to get it up to spec.? So you can crank it on up with no worries
I have not had any work done to this unit. And from what I have researched this unit does not have any production flaws that would be necessary to fix before using. That being said this unit is 40 years old and would most likely benefit from a full re-cap and cleaning. Even with no use, there are parts that should be checked and possibly replaced. Having parts out of spec from age or use may not result in a degradation of sound quality, but when pushed to the max or with prolonged use, these parts will eventually fail. It is in my plans to have this unit completely restored as this will not be leaving my collection any time soon.
This particular model does not have a removable headshell. to replace the cartridge the two screws on the headshell need to be removed allowing the old cartridge to be removed and a new one attached. alignment of a new cartridge can be made with screws snugged up and then tightened when aligned. to replace stylus only ,,do not remove the cartridge simply remove old stylus and replace with new.
Hi, unfortunately, I no longer have this turntable and am unable to supply you with the exact weight. a super cheap replacement is fishing line and a fishing weight, the consensus online is a weight of between 1.5 and 2 grams strung to approx the same length as in my video.
@@epska552 ok got you I read that on the internet So from your point of view would you recommend me too buy a turntable like this or pass it up . I can get one for 70 bucks from a pawn shop but the platter looks like there some warpage too it . Is this a common problem for these turntables
@@davidtillwach5542 at best this is low to mid level offering from Sony in good condition you could.overlook missing the weight . But any warpage of the platter is a definite non starter for me. If all is wel,l but the weight then may be an ok deal. Remember it's very difficult to fix cosmetic issues.
@@epska552 got you . I just may take a chance on it . I also seen a Sony PS 77 BSR changer on eBay . But BSR is not the best quality but on the plus side there is a mm cartridge on it .and I can update the cartridge on it too a good audio Technica AT95E .
I picked up a set of led bulbs off the bay no longer sold by the buyer I got them from but I would describe as a cool blue, the VU meters on this model really pop whatever color you put in more than some other models/brands. a side note is only the VU meters have colored bulbs the rest of the faceplate is stock lighting
@@epska552 did you only change the VU bulbs because they are the easiest to change sir? Because I'm wanting to change mine but do not want to get into any depth changing bulbs that are hard. Thank you beautiful receiver 👍👍💯

There are a couple of reasons for using two tonearms. First and foremost is the ability to run two different cartridges without having to swap. whether new or old every cartridge from every manufacturer sounds different depending on what parts are used and how the cartridge/stylus are set up. Two arms allows for an instant change to a slightly different sound. You could also use the second arm for say a 78 RPM arm setup which can be totally different than a 33 arm RPM setup. The second reason is there are differing opinions as to the perfect length of the arm. By doing two different lengths it allows me to experiment more. Thank you for looking
I have exactly the same bike and am in the process of restoring it. I've primed the paintwork and want to paint it the same original colour as yours but I cannot find the paint colour in Australia or a paint sample in the ppg paint catalogue. Would you have anything you've painted as a sample you could post to me so I can have it matched? Or can you advise which paint code you used from which manufacturer. I'm happy to pay for your costs.
