A people so attached to their identity and history can never be permanently suppressed. A lesson Russia needs to finally learn. Putin needs to see this and learn something.
The fact that i didn't recognize her in this interview, even though she's my favorite Carmen, speaks a lot about her acting talent. She's the best Carmen i've ever seen (from a2009/2010 performance. If you've seen better, please send me a message or a URL link).
she is an outstanding person-voice(good technic, wonderful color and sound, outlook:beautiful woman!! clever, disziplin,a wonderful mother to 2 girls god save her
Thanks to the Latvian Riflemen the Bolsheviks came to power, the first head of the Gulag was Latvian, etc. Latvians should blame only themself for establishing of the Soviet Union. Then they should repent of what they have done to the Jewish people during WW2.
Love her performances but as I lived in Latvia once, I know exactly what she means about rye bread, cheese and winter in Latvia and that magical Christmas feeling......yes, I miss that too. But I can still watch the magical Elina on the Internet.......
Elina is a class act through and through. Her autobiography is very personal and beautiful and talks a lot about Latvia. She grew up dirt poor living off the food her grandparents farmed. If you're a fan you should read the book. It's in German but you can use Google image reader to translate it into whatever language.
The wise small nation with a great soul. Festival is a strong message for those seeking ways to preserve peace in their countries and indirectly condemns those who provoke disagreements and hostility between nations. A link worthy of following.
I am a big fan of her too - From Korea. I wish Elena would have concert in Korea too someday. I am going to jurmala dzintari concert Latvia 10th July. Hopefully I can make it.
I really wish this year, 2022, were a festival year and that it were possible to bring the festival forward to, say, the early summer (when I expect Ukraine to win Eurovision) if not sooner. The symbolic potential would be enormous. Long live the Baltic states and slava Ukraini.
