Has anyone done a full series on building one of these kits? I see gilmaur kits floating around but my confidence in building one is low and I'd like to see the full process of building one before attempting one myself. I'm not sure they make these kits anymore so I'd hate to ruin one by accident.
Mike. I watched what you did with interest. I'm a Milwaukee modler in "O" scale so my parts and pieces are much larger. I've had success with paint stripper for metal on chassis components leaving just bare metal just needing a little tooth brush and dishwashing liquid soap scrub / rinse and drly with microfiber towel. Now ready for primer. By the way, have you posted the finished engine? I'd like to see it.
You said that you didn't like those bolts sticking out that held the fire extinguisher bracket...you could either re-use the bolts/braket mount and put grab irons or a lift ring on the out side. You can also make a housing to hold some outdoor cb audio equipment if you don't want it to fill the cab.
Facing the speeder from the outside. The wiper blade that came off the left side appears to look more like a style more common with older locomotives like SD38, SD40 etc. I wonder if the blade on the right was a replacement with whatever was available.
You need to have fuses as a safety feature. However since you have to redo it all anyway use an automotive style box with blade fuses or marine grade box with blade fuses
I suggest before you sandblast the head that you reinstall that or a sacrificial plug. It's probably not your first rodeo though. BTW it looks to be a 14mm x 1.25 pitch or slightly less than 9/16 in. If it was mfgrd. in Canada probably a metric.
Looks pretty cool Mike. My friend had an enclosed CN one and got to ride out and back into his garage and I was hooked. Lookin forward to watching the updates.
I got about 25 minutes of flight time per battery. It was a little windy that day so it was actually a pretty good workout for it. It says 31 minutes per battery but i think thats in calm conditions.
Amazing catches of the trains coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars, keep up the great work, I subscribed your channel, can you subscribe back, Greetings from Portugal.
Michael you've been quiet too long. I hope everything is well with you. Would you please share with us the source for the 3D printed single headlight that you had mentioned at the end of this segment? Looking forward to your next segment in this build.
Another couple of great tips learned, the louvers as decals is GREAT and kicker is a nice addition to any modelers glue supply. Subscribing to this channel has insured an entertaining video is sure to be found. Solid closing quote too, “Keep ‘er on the shiny side!”
Man, I can’t get over the amount to detail you S-Scalers dive into. I’d go cross eyed, but love to see the scratch building process. Another well done segment, this is a series I always enjoy tuning into. Who knows, one of these days I just might dabble in the S-Scale world! Keep up the great work Mike!
@@michaelostertag2839 Every year, around back to school time, they would tape one of those to the chip bags. Of course, most of them were used and are now gone, so that would be a collector's item!
You S-Scalers are the modeling worlds mad scientists 👨🏻🔬...the work and effort ya put forth would make many HO modelers cringe. One has gotta do, what ya gotta do. You’re making great progress and we’ll be looking forward to part 2.
