Hey boss, really like what you got going on in your curriculum. Can I ask what kind of Kenpo this is? In other words what's the lineage? It looks like a mix between kali and maybe Mitose Kenpo or Chow Kenpo. Is this your particular system that you developed?
Better to know something than nothing at all. Sure we'd all loved to have seen Jeff in the octagon in the UFC. How would he do? They would make the excuse American Kenpo is a "street fighting art...not a sport". Then, I'd say...lets see how he'd do in a street fight...in the end "traditional MA" is for fitness/sport. Not for "combat/real life...where the other guy might be faster, stronger and bigger..nor do you know how many you're up against, where they are from the start, who's armed...etc. Best one on one...western boxing + roman grecco ...
@Just J Anything you train begins with a bit of choreographing. Its called drilling. You do it in boxing, judo, karate, gun use, etc etc. There are not guarantees in a situation. You train using the best information from real life situations to determine possible outcomes. Some of the best trained are the Navy Seals, and even death occurs in a mission. No one can predict the future.
Kenpo works in the street! I have used it! Kenpo is a lethal art of killing. Its not meant for the boxing ring or the UFC. Someone once asked one of Bruce Lee students how would he box Mike Tyson he said that he wouldn't and if Lee had to face Tyson in the street then Lee would throw a finger jab to the guys eyes.
