This is the video that got me researching Jesmonite. Wow, I wish I knew where to go to learn how to do what you do. It is magical.

Awesome project! Any reason you left it to cure for 6 days? Does it need that long? I find that when I polish the flex metal I get pitting on the surface the more I scrub it with wire wool. Do you think maybe I didn't leave it long enough? I usually polish after 24 hours

Wonder if the legs will split or the top will crack as the wood expands and contracts? It's been a year, how did the table hold up?

How many grams powder do you use with how many grams of liquid?

What compound did you use on the wheel at the end?
@razvanmoldovan7226
@razvanmoldovan7226 2 года назад
I used a fine White Polishing Compound. You can find it online, there's different colours which represent different grits, depends on what your application is.

What is the last product applied on it ?
@razvanmoldovan7226
@razvanmoldovan7226 2 года назад
We applied a mixed of oils, Tung Oil, Danish Oil and Osmo wax I believe. It is a mix I made because I liked the viscosity, also the finish is perfect for Jesmonite. It gets absorbed nicely into the material and for a black mix pops up the colour nicely, plus you have a nice shine

For the outline of the mould I used a Beeswax from Rustins, and the silicone mold products are from Notcutt, rtv silicone moulding rubber

@@razvanmoldovan7226 hi, I’m curious as to why you would give the tabletop that texture? Because it looks like any other wood ply material. No one would understand that it’s gypsum composite like that.

WOW! How much of Jesmonite did you use? Why did you paint black with a brush instead of pouring pigment into mix and then cast? Was it o purpose for some reason?
@mattisland
@mattisland 3 года назад
It wasn't straight pigment, it was the jesomite with the pigment. Its best to brush the first layer a of a mould to ensure a nice even finish with no bubbles or missing detail :)
