This is perfect for scary ambient sounds in a map that gives liminal space vibes, same for like a map set in an abandoned factory that’s all rusted. Happy to see you uploading more stuff man, hope you’re doing well!
Also both are smaller creators so I rather not compare their products directly. I think getting more people out there making fun experimental things like this helps promote creative experimentation.
Thanks for posting! How's the handeling noise on the newer model? I own the original one which I carry with me wherever I go, however, the handeling noise can really be an issue sometimes.
@jacobharley7117 it is useful. Especially when grabbing recordings of isolated sounds with people around. Or just paired with Mikro Usi’s for crowdsource stuff. It will probably be my Juliabrary cs rig just to make things easier and more about the sound.
Hi! There's a lot of inspirational ideas on your channel :) Could you share your thoughts on Zoom m4 internal mics? Is the self noise low enough for recording ambiences (nature). How would you compare them to D100? If 32bit recording is internally exported to, let's say, 24bit format is original timecode retained?
I’m looking to get into Field recording for video purposes, but I’m not 100% sure what I should start with. I’d like something with built mics to start, with 4 XLR inputs for other things down the road. My budget is $400 maybe a little more. Your help would be much appreciated!
Was doing some torch recording indoors not too long ago. I was pretty nervous the whole time that I would melt gear or catch a blanket on fire. 😅 Sounds great!
hi . this is my first field recorder do have any issues with noise in background? when i listen to the rec file the volume is toooo low . i must normalize it to ear something but get a lot of noise in background . pre- amp issues?? I also tried with different microphones but same result . the only solution is to remove the noise in post production and it's annoying
Fieldrecording is all about optimizing your signal to noise ratio. It is important to try and get as close as possible to the source you are trying to capture and get a healthy signal. A recorder like this is meant for spot sound effects not ambiences unless you possibly use it with a pair of LOM microphones. Also try to master your sounds in a 32 bit session and then export them to 24bit. this will allow you to take advantage of the additional dynamic range that this recorder offers.
How do you feel about the noise on this mic ? I've heard that 32bit float would add noise/hiss to the signal because of ADC switch Guess it's not much of a problem when doing field recording compared to more controled records where there is more variation in transients
