I traded my older ‘59 LP for this one…the older one sounded great, but the neck profile was bothering me a bit too much. This C shaped one the newer version feels really like my cup of tea and than, for me, at the ‘end of the day’ It was totally worth it and hey; I do not mind the OB headstock on this and I sure do not mind the CustomBuckers. I also love the top and VOS finish….I do like plain tops a tiny bit better than really shiny grainy tops…so I am a happy camper with this new version. And besides the fret job (which I worked on myself a little bit to get them smooth) the construction and hardware is pretty decent. So not so much interested in the value over time…just wanted a pretty decent LP right now….and maybe when the time comes I’ll search and buy a nice Gibson…but that might as well be a 335 or something like that…For now: this is all the LP I need….I Think 😂
It’s a good choice as any at this price range for a solid Les Paul for sure. Fretwork is Epiphone’s primary weakness. If they just get that department together they would be unstoppable.
I will never forget, I was 15 years old when this album was released and I couldn't get over how amazing it was from start to finish. This is Aerosmith at its finest even if they were out of their minds. The production, lyrics and overall sound was just hard rock in its best form. I would still rank this in the top 5 of best hard rock albums ever.
I brought a vintage les paul junior for £119 when they first came out. It sounds amazing. P90 pickup/ double cut in cherry red. I think It sounds better than my cousin's gibson melody maker 2014 He paid just a bit less than £800 for that.
I've got a rare 2010 version (in ebony) with symmetrical horns and white binding around the fretboard and it is a surprisingly good guitar for the money. Wilkinson pickups are like somewhat hotter PAFs and it stays in tune remarkably well for a short scale guitar with 3/3 tuners, even when in dropped tunings. Surprisingly, since the models with binding were made only from 2010 to 2012, I've recently come across the exact same model, only in cherry. I considered buying that one as well, alas I didn't react fast enough.
Yes, the old Reissued (gloss finish) versions had a brief run with binding around the fretboards. They seem to be fairly rare. As far as I can tell the old Icon/Distressed version never had binding until the recent model change. Collect them all I say!
@@SayonaraSixString I've never seen the distressed version until I've come across your video. Now I want one of those as well! This is probably getting out of hand, but I love SGs with passion. And in particular, I've come to prefer Vintage ones to Epiphones.
Btw, if you like a hefty neck that isn’t a D profile, the new Epiphone Slash Les Pauls are awesome too. I have the Vermillion Burst model and it’s chunky, and a true C. Again, Epiphone is finally getting away from that awful D profile… about time as the majority love the C profile as it properly fits the hand
If you like hefty D 50s neck profiles, then go with the older version of the Epi ‘59. If you like the feel of '59 reissue neck (which Gibson's website calls "Authentic '59 Medium C-Shape") then the neck on the newer ‘59 version is for you. It is somewhere in between the larger Originals Collection '50s Les Paul neck and smaller Originals Collection '60s Les Paul neck. Plus, unlike the older Epi ‘59 neck: it’s a C, not a D. Epiphone is known for their crappy D shapes, and the new ‘59 has rectified that problem. I know… I’ve owned both.
どうもありがとう , thank you very much, grazie mille. Awesome cover, great tone. I' m a Simple minds fan since 1983. Ghostdancing is a beautiful underrated song. Did you use only one delay, quarter note? One of the best Simple minds song for me. If you want watch my short cover of Ghostdancing on my channel. 良い日曜日を
BRAVO!!! lol, well done! i couldn't stop smiling. i love how you clown around & have fun while you're doing each part so damn well. this cover sounds really great--each component! particularly a fan of the bass playing & the slide playing. but i'm sure the drummer wasn't a lil pixelated friend! 😝who did the drums? you get so creative with the video editing, like the overlays & filters & pop ups. i dig it! keep 'em coming! 🥳
OMG Azure thanks for the kind words and watching all the details! ❤️ The drums is programmed so I had to use pixel friend. 😄 The bass part was hard! Took a few takes!
Great review! FWIW, I have the Slash AFD yellow version. I love the guitar, but the veneer sucks!! It has very fine pin stripe flame with very little depth. Epiphone blew it on this veneer. But, they make up for it with the electronics!! I think the Probucker Customs have better definition than the pups that are in the Vintage. A totally subjective opinion..... The Vintage is not readily found in the Mid Atlantic region of the states. One shop has a "distressed" V-100 but I don't think it's the AFD version. I'll have to give it a play even tho I don't care for fake aging. Vintage blew it with their veneer as well. You're right, it's closer to a Joe Perry Boneyard Burst then a AFD LP. The best Epiphone AFD is the one that's hard to find and pricey when/if you find it. I'm talking about the 2010 Epiphone AFD with real Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Slash zebra pick ups!! It was limited to 3000 guitars world wide. THAT is the one to get. We gave one to our son as a High School graduation present.....It's a kick ass LP. Keep up the great video reviews!!
Thanks for watching, much appreciated! I agree the AFD they released some years back was the best one. They are tough to find and command a bit of cash when they pop up. I think they went a bit too mass production with recent AFDs. They should have kept them limited. I still think they are solid guitars though - they're built slightly better than the regular Standards I believe.
@@SayonaraSixString I agree for sure!! It's a solid guitar, well made and it plays nice and sounds good, if not great. The veneer is just so underwhelming. I bought mine used but in excellent shape for $600.00. No way was I going to pay retail for it. I'm happy for the money I spent.
