Cool video, I am not sure when you were there but we tried to get to Black Lake on July 6 and did not make it much farther than you. There was still a bunch of snow (and a guy shoveling it) with six miles still to go.

I miss Lake Powell. I moved my boat back east in 2002 when the lake dried up. Loved your view from up there. I don’t have a vehicle that can or should get all the way back there but was wondering if there were decent campsites along the way that if you took it easy would be accessible to 2 wheel drive?

The view from where I camped was spectacular. Pictures and video just don't do it justice. Lake Powell is a very unique and beautiful lake. To answer your question, it would depend on the kind of 2 wheel drive vehicle you had. Technically, nothing I drove on to get close to Alstrom Point required 4WD. But it is very bumpy in spots! To get all the way to the end of the road to Alstrom Point there is a section of minor rock crawling required. But I ended up camping before that part. At the end there were 5 other vehicles camping and where I stopped, I was the only one. You could go by the canyon edge where I camped or stop just short of there for another camp spot. Those were the only two I saw prior to going to the end of the road. If you had a vehicle that could handle some bumps and go slow, you could make it. But if you had a regular passenger car, then I think you risk damaging your axles, undercarriage, or suspension if you tried it.

That was an amazing drive and a wonderful place to camp. Thanks for finding it and making it such a nice time! Let's do it again!
