Nothing unique about the maroons and you don't own the land. Think about this: The British signed a document with the new Jamaica Gov in 1962 that allowed Jamaica to be independent. They did not signed a seperate Article of Independence with the maroons. Your passport says Property of the Janmaica Gov. You are not a seperate entity. The Brits gave the land to the maroons to live on after the marrons agreed to catch and return other escaped slaves to be punished by the Brits, at 2 pounds a head. That alone would prevent me from proudly proclaiming any maroon heritage. All lands in Jamaica belong to the Jamaica Gov. If not, produce the title or deed.
