As someone with a very Fender clean type amp rig, I've been on the hunt for a pedal that can get me fairly close to Petrucci's sound with the ease of a single foot stomp. This is SO helpful, thank you!
The problem with all these videos as these guys just go straight into the dirty channel and then they want a noodle which gives you such a one-dimensional sounded get you no idea of harmonics or how chords ring out they just play like 5 seconds of chords and then they just noodle the rest of the time.
I am trying to decide whether I should get the v130 super jack or the super kraken, from what I have seen so far the v130 is more versatile ,what's your opinion?
@techingo666 not sure if you’re still trying to decide between these two amps, but I’ve had a lot of experience with both the Victory Countess/Jack and the Super Kraken amps. They’re both great amps, but in my opinion the Super Kraken is the most versatile amp Victory makes, and one of the most versatile amps out there. The VX100 is my main amp, both for recording and gigging. When recording my own music, I’m using it for progressive rock and metal, which I need a large palette of sounds for. Live, I use it in a cover band where we play songs ranging from 2000s pop/punk to indie to alt rock. It performs excellently in all of those uses. Most of the advertising for the two amps bills the VX100 as the amp for metal and the V130 as the “do it all” amp. I’d say both are do it all amps, but they go about it in different ways. Here are some things to consider when choosing between them. 1. The V130 has a “cleaner” clean channel. Both amps do clean, but the V130 has more sparkle, while the VX100 will break up sooner, particularly with humbuckers 2. The VX100 is more balanced in volume across the sounds. On the V130, unless you have the clean gain right around noon, there can be either a drop or bump in volume when you switch from clean to crunch because of how much headroom the clean channel has. 3. While both amps are dark compared with something like a Marshall, the V130 is darker, while the VX100 has more presence. Lastly, here are some features the VX100 has that the V130 does not: 1. Built-in mid boost 2. 2 switchable master volumes (V130’s are assigned by channel) 3. MIDI switching Sorry if that was too long. If you can’t tell, I’m a huge advocate of the VX100. Hopefully this helps!
Great playing… I just got one and this baby holds its own with everyone of Gibson’s…the build quality is fantastic…it feels great in the hand I’m glad shredded on this because I do and it sounds great through my Marshall JCM 800 thanks
Some nice tones.looking for a Marshall in a box as my Marshall origin plexi doesn’t have lots of drive. Looking at this and love pedal purple plexi. Don’t know if you tried that. Any suggestions on which better or what to go for in general if you can think of something else. I only use humbuckers if that helps
Hi, thank you. I would actually check out the Victory V1 Sheriff which just came out. That pedal sounds awesome and it goes from plexi sounds up to hot rod jcm800.
@@SteveKay77 thanks that wasn’t even on my radar. I’ll check it out. Would that be the best available for classic rock to say jcm800 tones. So many pedals out there it’s very confusing. I was set on the purple plexi. Then saw the mesa dynaplex.
Sounds and looks pretty good to me! Congrats on the guitar and great playing! Do you have any other JB Signature models, or how would you rate this guitar? I know that the price was raised on this one compared to previous models, which were a pretty good deal. At this price, it should be a very good guitar.
Thank you! Its the only Bonamassa guitar I own but I have Gibson guitars and this definitely gives them a run for their money. I think the reason the price is higher is because it uses all the USA electronics, pickups, pots, wiring , switch etc.
@@SteveKay77 got one coming today. Played my buddy's and it was killer even through his Monoprice amp. Like yourself, I have a few Gibson's including an ES-335, and I'm hoping this gives me a different voice in the semi-hollow realm. Otherwise, I'll stick it back in the packaging and sell it in a year for double what I paid. :D
£1000 worth of overdrive pedals. I saved myself £900 by buying a Demonfx Dual Gun and King Of Drive. I had the A-man KOT and the King of Tone is almost identical down to the components so I assume the Dual Gun is as good as the Kingtone.
@@SteveKay77 One more question. What speakers are in your cabs? I'm seriously close to pulling the trigger on an SLO-30. I'm going for EC 24 nights type tones with my EC strat. Also use a regular strat and a LP for other tones. Thanks for your input. Really good tones on your vids, and about the only live gig stuff I can find posted anywhere.
I’m confused as to why you would compare two 30/35 watt amps with a VHX100? Of course the 100 amp is going to have more headroom. I don’t think it should have Been with the SLO & the Bogner. It also sounds as if the Victory is louder on the recording
I explain in the video that the victory has a 30 watt mode and that is what its set to. So it is around the same as the SLO and the Bogner in that mode.
