What’s funny: I’m Multi Generational Mixed race. My wife is Japanese. My kids look “Asian” to all of their teachers. The great irony is that I, someone whose ancestors went through slavery and Jim Crow, have to always be alert to defend my kids against anti Asian bias. Crazy how that works 😂😂

went to a dance/club during 12th grade where I was one of the few asians there. Definitely felt shorter than most people there. Asked a white or latina for a dance. She looked at me up and down and just pushed me away in rejection. Later that night, some crazy white guy just started randomly shoving me around. Tried getting away, but he kept following me. I eventually was able to discreetly notify security to get him kicked out but man that whole experience sucked

The street ball thing was interesting. I played a game of basketball with some guys and my homies and there was this one time I jumped to reach for a rebound another guy grabbed my wrist to keep me from jumping. F'ed my shoulder up. You better believe the next time he tried to screen me I knocked his ass over. And it never happened again.
I’ve had random people (including women) try to challenge me in one way or another for no good reason, even when I’m walking with my daughter. They don’t care if I’m a criminal or a graduate of Georgetown, if you’re a confident-looking Asian guy who puts himself out there, expect a lot of enemies amongst strangers.
