Not much that grandparents and non coaster enthusiasts can do or enjoy at Carowinds anymore. The Carolina Sternwheeler was one of those things that they could do.
Oh the memories, I went in this ride when it was at Great Adventure and if memory serves me correctly the lift hill was different. It was well over 30 years ago but I’m fairly sure the lift hill was vertical. Either way it was still a great ride for 13year old me.

Cool! This video is in HD. This looks very crystal-clear for a 2002 video from Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa, and it looks like it's only on its one-train operations. Other than the one-train ops in this video, thank you SO much for uploading! This is perfect! Keep up the good work.
This was one of the better rapids rides. It had a good variety of rapids and the waterfalls section at the end guaranteed you didn't leave dry. So many if these rides lack actual rapids. This one had it all. Every element got you wet. Most seem to be about waterfalls or drops and not the rapids. I was so bummed when they removed it. Big loss.
Are used to love this ride, especially at night when there wasn’t a line. You would just get on and get right back off and get back on again and you were soaking wet and freezing.
