Appreciate the watch and comment. East Valley is a good place to be... The SRP canals are full of bass, carp, and Tilapia (as well as other species), but those three are the most consistent with flies and are a blast. You can fish any canals that aren't fenced in and/or don't say "no trespassing". You often times will need to park on a side street or at a park close to the canals, and then just walk the canals and fish. The city ponds are also stocked with fish, though I generally like to fish the canals more (they are kind of like a river). Check out this video for some gear, line, flies, and technique for fly fishing for grass carp. 👉ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IMSOS_XYSiM.html
@@Peeze16 hey, welcome aboard! Thanks for watching, subbing, and commenting! I hope you like fly fishing content too, because I have a lot of it coming up haha! Tight lines! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Kevin, I saw you catch 2 sockeyes in the mouth without flossing them. Can you confirm that you can catch them with normal flyfishing methods without glorified snagging or what the locals call lining?
I've watched sockeye snap at Russian River flies & Egg Sucking Leech Patterns, and know of plenty of people that catch them with plugs (a type of lure that imitates bait fish, among other things). While a traditional fly style (like drifting under an indicator) likely won't catch them, swinging and popping streamers can certainly induce them to strike out of annoyance or in defense. They are not eating when moving up the rivers, but they definitely will strike a fly to get it out of their way. 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Hey brother! Thanks for watching and commenting, Tony! It was definitely an awesome and memorable place to explore and fish... Can't wait for your next video. Tight lines! 🤙✌️🎣
Kevin, great video buddy! You guys hiked 13 or 14 miles!? Wow! You guys sure worked hard for your fish, what a great adventure and some nice trout on this one, can't wait for day 2! Enjoy your weekend brother! 🤜🤛😎
Yo Brody!! Yeah man, we did a lot of exploring and hiking (beside the fishing). The knees were hurting after this one, haha! For next week's video... We get into some better fish! Have a great weekend, brother! 🤙✌️🎣
Totally agree... It was awesome being in that spot, felt like we were in a little valley in the middle of that huge mountain range. Beautiful place, for sure! 🤙✌️🎣
I just check Google Maps and drive to different areas to check out the canals. The canals will have signs saying if you can't fish them or "no trespassing"... If there are no signs, I fish away. 🤙✌️🎣
Haha, yeah.... It was pretty crazy while it was happening, but it was fun to watch afterwards 😂😂. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment... I hope your week is going really well! Looking forward to seeing you catch more smallies on the lake! 🤙✌️🎣
Yeah man, there are TONS of bass, carp, tilapia and catfish in the canals! It's really fun, especially when you only have a short window to fish! Tight lines! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
I’m recently learning to fly fish in AZ! so cool seeing you just go out and get it on whatever kind of water you can find, definitely gonna be exploring some more areas around Tempe and phx!
Excellent, man! The more diversity of species and waters you fish, the faster your skills will grow and the better you'll be at fly fishing. The bass and carp in the canals are a blast to get after with the fly rod. Thanks for watching and commenting... Tight lines! 🤙✌️🎣
Yet again awesome video & your overall attitude is rock'n,Alaska is on my bucket list, may never happen but 1 can dream, with 40 + years of flyfishing under my belt,I'm glad to see young bloods get'n into this sport, tight lines 🤙
Hey man, thank you! I have a blast anywhere I fish, but Alaska is definitely a special special place. I am very fortunate that my wife is from there and we visit family (and fish) every year. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment... Tight lines! 🤙✌️🎣
What a beautiful day to be out, fish and enjoy the day Kevin and landed a couple of beauties too, enjoyed the trip, tight lines, thumbs up and greetings from Kiwiland,, Tony.
Phew what a sigh of relief to see that first Carp go in your net! That was a good fight, great job dude! Sick eats on the fly! Another awesome Video Kev, and bro your almost at 4K!!! 😁😎🤜🤛
Yo Brody!! Thanks for tuning in and dropping a comment! Yeah man... I was shocked that I was able to ultimately net that first one. Hope your week is going well... Can't wait for your next epic vid! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Nice stuff for sure. I live in Phoenix, but have not had that kind of luck throwing flies for carp in the Canada. I have had luck at the research parks and the lower salt.
The carp in the Salt River can get massive, so that's awesome that you've caught them there. It takes some practice getting the carp down in the canals, but once you do, they are so plentiful that it can make for some super fun days of fishing. Tight lines and thanks for watching and dropping a comment! 🤙✌️🎣
@KevinRapkochFishing I have no issue with the carp and Sonoran sucker's but these canal carp have me frustrated lol. I have been using some flies I tied which mimic a piece of corn.
@@tandtoutdoors5154 very cool. I think you'll get it done with those flies. I've had success with fake bread flies for grass carp, but the fly I've caught the most on (20+ grass carp) is a foam black cicada dry fly 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Yo Kev! Yeah man, I've been trying to catch a common on top for about a year now... I've had some hits, but never could connect until this video! Thanks for watching and commenting, brother... Tight lines!! 🤙✌️🎣
Awesome & yet again you've shattered the mystique about fly fishing, not always pristine waters for trout,no so great fly fishing can be found in many different places & truly simplifies it,1 rod/reel,leader,tippet,net & box of simple flies & you have a fun day in store, tight lines 🤙
Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, nothing better than trout fishing in beautiful rivers & creeks ... But man, being able to catch cool and big fish on dry flies pretty much in my backyard is always fun! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! 🙂✌️🎣
Sick Kevin! The commons fight super hard haha just got my fly rod back ready to start throwin some flies again, you can here cicadas buzzin out there now
Nice man! I went out yesterday... Caught a BIG Common, pretty epic battle to the net! The bite was tough and it was hot as heck, but it felt good getting a big one to the net! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Hey thanks! Yeah, definitely... Was 50 yards away from a black bear that swiped a salmon from a dude's stringer once; came within 20 yards of a Grizzly Bear last year; and have had a few other close encounters, but nothing too crazy! 🤙✌️🎣
Oh I'm sure... Perfect 3wt creek. I only have suitcase room for my 8 (salmon) and 6wt (bigger trout) when I come to Alaska, but I would have loved to have my 3wt on me. Thanks for watching! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Buddy that was such an awesome session! I can feel your pain losing 2 big fish in that one area, I was rooting for you dude! Had to laugh at the singing part😂. Dude you make fly fishing look easy! I just caught 3 stripers 2 days ago on the fly for the first time. Definitely hooked now!
Yo Brody! Yeah man, really wish I could have seen that first fish, haha... It felt big!! Dude! Stripers on the fly sounds EPIC! I can't wait to see it 🤙🤙✌️🎣
