I love the remake so much more than the OG! Very grateful for updated writing, lesbian and feminist representation, and very talented BIPOC cast. The graphics rock. I do miss the theme song, but not the overwhelming straightness - witches are hella gay IRL y'all
Practical magical was one of my favorite movies and I still love it today and I still watch it every time I see it and I have the movie I watch it I have to tape I just love practical magic and I would love to live the way they do in that house and have your own shop with you know skin care so for whatever it was magical it was something really special about that movie it was so magical thank you for your reading ❤❤❤❤
I to got mad at Netflix when charmed got cancelled and bought the series, because the new series they are trying to pass off as charmed sucks, but then again, I have 34 complete TV series including supernatural munsters, Addams family, and the originals, and of course charmed✌️😎
Better stories, better characters, better spells, better demons, better CGI, better acting... No wokism, no neo-feminism. The OG show was simple yet efficient. They tried so hard to be " in the mood of time " with the new one that it actually is boring. The acting was bad as well. Pity, I was excited when they announced the reboot
I think I read somewhere that Faruza Balk was herself a Wiccan. I do believe they incorporated some intentional mistakes in the spell casting, to maybe put off some wannabe witches hoping to use this video as a lesson
The original charmed was the embodiment of women power. They were all beautiful, intelligent and enjoyed kicking ass occasionally. And men had staring roles in the show that were actually relevant to the plot.
For my Practical Magic loves, I have a surprise for you! 🧙♀🔮 My witchy fantasy film is now available to stream on RU-vid. I do agree that the original series is superior, it lasted longer and even evolved into a completely different version of itself after the introduction of Paige. However, the newest version of Charmed did things the original series only wished they had thought of. ❤
Thx for this! Have only seen clips of the reboot, and it doesn’t look awful, but the original is absolutely magic. I always wondered if the resentment between Prue and Phoebe actually seeped into the actors and that’s why Alyssa and Shannen couldn’t get along. It’s 2024 and I still want the original back! ❤❤
As a gay man I adored the family dynamic of the 90s charmed. It very much felt like a family navigating the choppy waters of normality crashing against a secret you had to keep (a personally relatable touch stone, i suppose) but my goodness the reboot is like sandpaper compared. Particularly in the first season but certainly seeded through the rest of them, i found the female chauvinism guising as feminism to be quite off-putting. It felt preachy and forced. Like, i really don't believe any woman so militantly hateful of an entire gender (within which there is a huge amount of diverse beliefs and alignments) could be portrayed as a protagonist. Were the shoe on the other foot, it absolutely wouldn't fly either. I hated that they insisted on a diverse cast but one, didn't fully commit to a latin cast, and two, then did absolutely nothing with the that rich heritage they cast such an intense spotlight on. Even the gay representation in the show reeks of "gay is my label, gay is my personality". The original is vastly superior. My two cents. Why, you might even say, EXCEEDINGLY superior :D
I just went to have a complete meltdown on the chipmunk bit. Shame, split second later I realized it's gone 10pm here and it shut it down, moment ruined :/. Been a long time since I had a meltdown like that. Damn time.
This is by far the best depiction of witches in media, the humanity and downplay of sensationalizing the magic is (as much as possible for a movie) I have to admit a love for any witch representation, tho I do get tired of the "pew pew im shooting lightning". I'm also a huge fan of the Craft and Bell, Book and Candle and even I Married a Witch. I am disappointed tho with the obvious lack of male witch representation. We exist. Don't have to be tecnter for the film, but a presence would be welcome.
I often quote about practicing the Craft to the Noma ji that they believe that we can fly on broomsticks preposterous...getting around a cauldron and casting curses absurd... dancin naked under the full mon.... well we do do that but the nakedness is completely optional.....and of course by now you guess where I stole that
I smile everytime you show the Og charmed on screen. Ngl I don't mind the reboot but it's just not the same. It's just doesn't seem right. The Og brought something original but then reboot just tries to Copy what we already loved from OG.
Just found your channel through the Charmed reboot video. Only my second video here. I have one concern with this video, however. The subconscious does recognize negatives, all too much in fact. That is actually one of the greatest downfalls of the human race, how much the subconscious latches onto negatives. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely better for your mind, both conscious and subconscious, to try to think and work using positives and affirmations when possible, especially when needed such as with light work, but there is also such a thing as too much of a good thing. To try to deny that the subconscious understands negatives like that is to deny the balance, the cycles of nature. There is no day without night, no up without down, no positive without negative. Just as winter has too much night, summer has too much day, balancing each other out. The wheel of the year is but one dimension, one iteration, of the cycles of the universe.
I completely agree with your take on the show vs. the book. I read the first book and really disliked it! I am very confused by all the positive reviews on good reads. I thought I was getting a fantasy novel about witches and it turned out to be a romance novel where the relationship between Diana and Matthew is both boring and toxic at the same time. However my need to consume all things witchcraft made me give the show a chance. I am really glad I did! I found the show very entertaining. The show runners made the magic and lore front and center which I found very interesting and exciting. I am really bummed it got cancelled.
While I agree that the OG is better you guys didn’t mention anything about the diversity. The main cast of the original was all white unless you counted Darrell which he was a minor character anyway. This newer version has POC and LGBT+ representation which in opinion is wonderful. I think you should watch more recent episodes. One thing I will say is the beginning of the 2018 version is the first season was a bit hard to watch but they have come into their own. ❤❤❤
I barely made it twenty minutes into the first episode of the new charmed before my eyes rolled out of my head and I groaned out loud. Too much woke trash references.
So, I finally decided to give the reboot a try since it made it past two seasons. I could not make it past the first few episodes of season 2. I will say I loved the OG series; it's one of my favorite shows. I tried to give the reboot an honest try, but man, I just couldn't stick with it. The acting was bad, the plot seemed to skip necessary dialogue or scenes; the plot didn't seem linear and I did not know what was happening by season 2. I don't know who was in the writing room, but it really seems they half-assed the reboot.
Cassie is very much like Nanny in Nanny & the Professor imo

Hey guys, I have to admit, I think your assessment is really good. I don't agree that Diana is the "brainless and pining fool" like Bella. She informs herself about Matthew and doesn't follow him blindly. She trusts him more than the other witches because she finds his intellect attractive herself. You seem to have read over that ;). I agree with you that the series is rushed and many important aspects are not shown, which Deborah takes a lot of time for in the books. Diana's strong magical potential when she unknowingly uses magic as a teenager, even at college - I would have loved to see in flashbacks. Book 2 in particular, set in Victorian England and France and Bohemia, is a treasure. We learn so much about this magical world, how the relationship between Diana and Matthew develops, how Diana learns to accept and finally embrace her being a witch. I look forward to your assessment of season two and three. Best wishes from Germany, from a German witch.
I don't think you read the same book I did. Nowhere does Diana met Mathew by falling down a staircase. Additionally, one of Diana's biggest convictions is NOT using her powers to aid her work as an historian. Equally so, she would not have asked Matthew for his memories to advance her career. How did you miss that about her? It's like a big security blanket for the young academician.
I think the throne thing was more meant to be symbolism. Though the writing was so bad it didn’t hit at all. The white walkers should’ve been the final antagonist. They spent 10 years building them up for them to last 1 episode where the characters use the worst battle strategies ever. Cersei should’ve been killed by a wight Edit: Really didn’t mind ayra killing the night king but the night king in general should’ve been more of a threat in the final season he should’ve been “the threat”…
I know this video is old but I’ll add that since the original charmed and the reboot is over I enjoyed both of them I can’t choose between each one because as a black man I can’t relate to the original cast which by no surprise was played by white women i can’t relate to the new one still being a black man but I can tell you there was a lot more black representation, then there were in the original so because of that the reboot has me as a fan
Okay, if skin color and gender are why you can't relate to a character, you have issues. Unless it's the opposite gender talking about opposite gender problems, it's easy to relate. I relate to several black/native/Asian/Latino characters. I don't only relate to white women. That's kind of ridiculous.
Example: if a black man is talking about his prostate problems or erectile dysfunction, I cannot relate to that. But if he's talking about his asshole father who wouldn't call when he found out his daughter was diagnosed with a life altering auto immune disorder, I can absolutely relate to it.
This review feels very biased and Judgy in a 'i don't wanna like it so I won't' kinda way. Not saying they can't have this opinion or base their review off of this opinion. I really got no issue with them voicing what they feel. Just doesn't feel very objective (if one can be with any form of creative media) I liked the style of the book of shadows. It looks like any other modern book and honestly the original didn't look very period accurate or old either so the comparison just feels like comparing one new thing pretending to be old to another new thing pretending to be old lol
The acting and writing horrible. I would have given this show the same honest review even if it wasn't a reboot. Also neither my wife or I are a fan of the original Charmed. It was way to predictable and repetitive to hold our attention.
The Craft is pretty unique in that it is one of the very few films about the occult that does not portray Christian dualism. I especially loved how Manon was described, as beyond the opposites we all learn from an early age.
